After the adjustment, the pain finally went away and I realized I forgot how "normal" felt like. The pain was gone and I was even able to breathe better. I've also had acupuncture done in sync with my menstrual cycles as well, and it completely got rid of any cramps and pms symptoms over the course of three sessions. On occasions when my body needs a little more care, I get adjusted by Dr. Kim, acupuncture/cupping and massage. Heidi is amazing at targeting key areas and really works on those knots. If you can handle a really deep tissue like the ones you can only get in Asia, she's the only person I found in the U.S who can give you that pressure. I also had a great session with Gio - he's a great balance between firm and gentle, his massage feels like a vinyasa flow in the best way possible, if that makes sense. I tore ligaments in my shoulder and he provided me with acupuncture, cupping and stretching that relieved so much pain and promoted healing. He suggested PRP treatments which I looked into with my Ortho, and he agreed it was a good alternative to surgery. With those injections and the rehabilitation I received from Dr Kim I made a full recovery and my shoulder feels 100%. I’m not writing this to suggest that my road to recovery is what everyone should do for a shoulder injury, but rather to show how Dr Kim treats every patient individually and maps out with you a road to heal. So after more than 20 years of my body being wrecked and major life changes and stress, I decided it was time to do some serious self-care and put my self first. I knew I could not go to any old place being recently postop with medical problems. I decided to look on Yelp and picked Back on Point Wellness because of the credentials and medical knowledge as well as the diverse modes of treatment. My first appointment was with Dr. Bernard he called me prior to our first visit, which I appreciated myself as a nurse. He took time understanding my history as well as what I wanted to achieve. My first appointment with him was great! He talked me through everything, and I left feeling like a rubber band. He even worked out some scar tissue under and near my incision. The next day I was sore, but good sore and had more mobility in my body. Today I went back per his plan to have a massage. I've had plenty of massages before, as well as acupuncture, Reiki, etc. Gayle was my masseuse. She is a nurse so I knew medically I was in good hands. I have no words at all for how beyond amazing and unique my time with her was! She really listened to me and more importantly to my body, I felt like I was floating on water and I mean literally. I felt heat through the core of my body and actually got emotional a couple of times because of the release from my core into my head. She used typical massage strokes but where it usually hurts she did not. She also utilized very light but strategic touch and I felt deep abdominal and chest muscles relax and open up. I felt muscles that are usually very tight and spasm relax for the first time in I don't know how long. My hands and toes actually had pins and needles, but in a good way and I'm surprised I was able to make it home because I felt like I was floating on air and in a dream! If anybody has medical issues or is weary about seeking treatment outside of the typical doctor and medication, I would highly and without a doubt recommend this place. All out of breath I FINALLY was able to start walking around again--still in a lot of pain. So I went into Back on Point Wellness (BOP) for a massage therapy session. I scheduled it with whoever had an opening--turned out it was Cindy. Many thanks to BOP (Angie and her wonderful staff) for getting me in. And the thing of it is I wasn't even really going in for my hip. WELL....LET ME TELL YOU.... ONE MASSAGE THEREAPY SESSION--THAT'S IT--ONE THERAPY SESSION with Cindy at BOP and I was immediately putting weight on my right hip with only nominal pain--certainly tolerable. Here's the kicker. At the beginning of the session with Cindy, when she asked if I had any particular issues going on today--and not coming in because of my right hip, I told Cindy my right hip was really bothering me. She said, Humm, I would have guessed it was your left hip because I can tell just by the way you lying down, whatever is going on is on the left side. And then Cindy said she could see that after she had worked on the left hip, the right hip mellowed out. (Cindy used much more medical technical terminology but I don't remember it all). Now, I'm getting up from a sound night sleep and able to put weight on my right side, and hardly feel anything. I can't believe one massage therapy session from Cindy at Back on Point Wellness, and I'm totally functional. I'm even considering cancelling my appointment with UCLA orthopedics I have scheduled for next week. Thank you so very very much, Cindy and BOP. After some scanning, he customized a pair of orthotic shoe inserts for me. I was a bit skeptical to say the least. I waited a few days and the orthotics arrived for me to pick up. They provided immediate relief but the pain was still there. BUT, after consistently wearing them for 3 weeks (I’ve missed some days), my pain was completely gone! It’s hard to explain but I’ve been pain 100% pain free for over 8 months now! I no longer wear my inserts but I use them occasionally for my dress shoes and days I wanna feel taller :) So yes, I am so happy with Dr Ernest and I highly recommend him wholeheartedly! He made me feel comfortable and safe as he talked me through it but also performed his work swiftly without much time to have any anxiety. I left loose as a goose and truly felt like my body had reset. I swam 1600m no issues and had a light run in the evening after my treatment and felt good as new afterwards. No tightness or aching. BONUS: at the end of the session, Dr Kim adjusted my ankle joints and I now have the ability to apply pressure on my right ball of my foot. I havent been able to do this in 10 years. I have an osteochondrial lesion from an old fracture (basketball injury) that was pressing on a tendon making it very painful to apply pressure or explode of my right foot. Ortho told me I had to live with it or get surgery to shave off the abnormal bone lesion plus 6 week recovery. My husband‘s back felt 100% better after just going one time to Dr. Kim. He is now a regular client and goes weekly. When we were in the appointment for my husband I had mentioned to Dr. Kim that I had anxiety. He suggested that I try acupuncture, which again I had never done before. I made an appointment with Abby. Let me tell you she was so professional and so thorough. She asked me all sorts of questions about what I was looking to get out of the appointment what other things behind besides anxiety, did I have? She just cared about knowing my backstory and why I thought I had anxiety and what was causing it. She was very gentle and just put my nerves it is. I now go once a week. He walks you through the entire procedure which is both intense and gentle. I could literally feel my muscles relax as he engaged in the exercises. I definitely felt the stretch with ART. The next day, the pain in my neck down to my spine was completely gone. I went back for a third time in a few days for a follow-up and the pinched nerve was completely gone. WHAT A RELIEF it was!!
