We are new to the area & decided to eat at El Jinete because we're vegan/vegetarian & the menu offered more options than most restaurants. We ordered the veggie chimi & the veg bowl & I had a house margarita. We were very disappointed at the lack of flavor/seasoning. My veg bowl consisted mainly of large slices of peppers & onion & the contents were very oily.The $7.99 margarita just tasted fruity.The service was good.We will not return.

If you're in Athens and looking for a great restaurant, this is the place! The food is excellent the portions are large, the staff is excellent, and the prices are decent...( as much as they can be these days)

Pretty good fajitas here. Love chorizo but never had it this way. Tortillas and salsa were also good. Wife really liked her beef burrito.

Why are they charging a fee to use a debit card to pay for a meal? It’s my understanding that that is illegal. Debit cards are treated as cash unlike a credit card.

It was pretty good everything was good. We got our food really quick in like 3 minutes.The only complaint I have is the salt it didn’t come out because it was damp.But other than that great restaurant I do recommend it.

We have visited this establishment many times. The wait staff used to all be friendly, some still are, several are smartelics. Hit or miss. Tonight 7/27/26 was the worst and last experience we will be going here. Reason is: i got through my Fajitas, which were not that good only to get to the last bite to find a 10-11" long light brown hair in my food. Waitress apologized once. Management nevet addressed issue at all. Very disappointing that he didnt even acknowledge the issue. It was taken off our bill but still🙄idk what has happened to this restaurant over the last yr or so but there are alot of Mexicans restaurants nowadays and we wont be going back.
