Dr. Electric and technician Zack spent a lot of time at my place and with me as part of the annual safety inspection process --he was very thorough and helpful and patient, I learned a lot and became a more informed homeowner regarding my electric service and safety. The annual membership that includes this annual inspection and discounts on service is well worth the money and appreciated!

Colten, my electrician, was on time, very professional, very thorough, and explained everything to me up front. He did an excellent job with some of the work that I needed to get done. This review may be lengthy but hopefully worth reading if you are considering this company for electrical work! We recently had an electrical meter box on one of the 50+ homes in our tract explode and cause a fire due to a short caused by an improperly installed electrical service line to that house. Apparently the incoming line lacked the in ground "expansion loop" that is required at time of service installation when the home is being built. Dr Electric provided the damaged home with a new service line (including the loop) as well as a new meter box and associated require accessories. They also noted the problem in a few other homes and as a service to the 50+ homeowners they provided each with a letter explaining that many additional homes in our neighborhood may also have the issue. As part of the letter, they offered a free inspection of each meter box, along with an assessment of each home's status and options to correct the problem. We decided to have them do such an assessment of our service line. We were given a very detailed / thorough explanation of our situation by Joe and Matt (owner) and decided to proceed with them and signed a contract proposal. On the day of the dig, even Matt the owner attended supervised and participated in the dig and the assessment / rectification of our incoming line problem. The dig reveled that we in fact did have the loop but was positionally installed improperly. He and crew rectified that condition and installed a new meter base, meter box, and expansion style incoming pipe. He also checked our grounding situation per code and found it met code. Initially thought we needed additional grounding, and reduced the price for that feature as well as for the ground loop which he did not have to splice. Obviously a very honest contractor. He even waited around for 2 hours after the completion of the job waiting for RG&E to show to turn on the power again (RG&E misplaced the order to start service again). They not only do quality work but obviously have integrity and honesty incorporated into their approach to business! Very satisfied with Matt and DR Electic! Thank you guys! Less

We had someone come out and they told us it would be $550 to repair the 3 outlets. They left, charged us $420 and said it’s going to be a lot more work and didn’t fix a single outlet. So in total they came out fixed nothing and charged us $420.

We have an old home with a complex broken circuit. Tricky problem but they stuck around til it was fixed and then came back for a free checkup when we caused an issue with too many space heaters shortly thereafter! We're lucky to have found reliable and available electricians in Rochester.

My tenant called me to let me know that the lights were going out when appliances came on. I was concerned that there was a real danger and called to see if someone could come out right away. An electrician was there in a couple hours. Coordinated with my tenant and diagnosed a bad main breaker. Took photos of the damage and made the repair. Very professional.

We had flickering lights - all through our home. Did not know why. Doctor Electric came out and spent a few hours, checking everything and fixing problems that were found. We had Doctor Electric install a heating lamp in the master bath. Dan came out and did a thorough assessment, worked up a quote, and then came back to do the install after sourcing the lamp. Doctor Electric worked with RG&E to find a good time to shut off the power for some repairs. They came back the next week and fixed the dangerous wiring, installed a ground wire, and repaired our meter outside. When RG&E sent an inspector to come and sign off on the work, they had nothing but high praise for the work there + Doctor Electric in general. We ended up having some other smaller issues, like an outlet not working properly in our garage and called again. They came by right on time and were able to fix the issue within a couple of hours (installed 2 GFI + 1 normal outlet in the garage). I will say that the price is a bit high, but I don't mind paying it when I know that things are getting done correctly. Less

Be aware that they charge a $54 fee just for giving you a price quote, whether they get the job or not. And it is not deducted from the bill if they do get the work.

Technician showed up and did not want to do the work. He expected the whole ceiling to be gutted when it didn't need to be. He was rude and talked down to my husband. We ended up having another electrician come in and that electrician did the work in 15minutes with no problems and the ceiling did not have to be gutted. Also the owner of Doctor Electric made excuses for his technician.
