I can't say enough good things about the crew at Valley Apex and the quality of training they have provided to our developing hockey players. Our kids have had the privilege of learning through their camps as well as private sessions and the improvement that this team is able to deliver is always amazing! This season was our introduction to the goalie side of Valley Apex and as expected it did not disappoint! The organization, attentiveness, and ability to connect with the kids from James is second to none! The low number of goalies in his camps allows him to really ensure they are perfecting their skills and his attention to ensure that they have similar skill levels allows him to maximize the amount of time they are working together as well as ensuring that they learn the skills properly with necessary corrections to ensure they don't develop bad habits or break those they have. In addition, just like the rest of the Valley Apex team, James has such an impressive ability to connect and initiate the internal drive to improve from the kids which I truly believe is such a huge factor in the rapid progression with our goalie! Her attentiveness and desire to perfect everything he teaches her even outside their sessions is really what sets him apart. The excitement she has to learn from him has been so amazing to watch! She is constantly asking when then next time she gets to work with coach James is. In addition to his camps, the private session she had was so well organized and engaging offering a truly unmatched experience for her to learn and improve! Lastly, as new goalie parents the dedication and support that he provides has been more than we could ever ask for! He truly goes above and beyond to ensure his goalies have the best possibility for success we couldn't be more thankful for the foundation he has built and the progress he continues to provide! For the skaters, the skills, repetitions, and proper corrections really help the kids progress but their stand out quality is their ability to engage, adapt, and encourage the internal drive of the kids motivating them to want to learn and improve their skills. Our skater has improved leaps and bounds since his first learn to train camp over a year ago but there were certain skills he just would not improve because he had a sneaky way of avoiding trying in group settings so we opted for a private session with Kevin and to say it was the best idea ever is an understatement! The biggest takeaway from that session was not the skill itself (although the breakdown and coaching was also not surprisingly amazing) but the drive an initiative to continue to work on it after the session to continue to improve it. In one session Kevin was able to accomplish what we've tried for years to do! All in all, whether you have a skater or goalie, the dedication, development and entire experience provided by the Valley Apex team never disappoints! Less

Fun most intense group to work out with! As a beginner they are very inclusive and quick to show you how to do something new. Our youngest loved his time with James and Valley Aprex! The goalie program is wonderful, his eye hand coordination has improved with the many drills on ice and off! As we were leaving our little guy asked when he could go back! 3 hours of training for 5 days straight and he wanted to keep working, that should speak for itself! We will be back!

Our son had an amazing experience with Goalie Coach James at Valley Apex. The low coach to goalie ratio was exactly what he needed. It was amazing to watch his improvement in just one week. Coach James knew exactly how to motivate the kids and keep them engaged. We look forward to our next camp.

I’ve been dropping into Valley Apex on my holiday and they’ve bent over backwards to make me feel Welcome, and allowed me to join classes and open gym. The classes have been fantastic, with great coaching from Laura. I recommend them whether dropping in or joining a CrossFit gym.

Before I started working with Kevin I knew there were things I wanted to improve on. Kevin and his team have taken me beyond where I expected to be. Kevin's training is player specific so there is no way you can't get better then you were and still have fun!

My children have done off ice with training with Valley Apex and always had the best time! My daughter also does the Train 2.0 with Coach Kevin on ice and I cannot say enough about her improvements over the course of the season. Kevin works so intently with each individual skater and you can see his work ethic and pride as each skater improves.

The training provided by Laura Gonu and her highly qualified and competent staff is second to none in the Ottawa Valley! I would recommend this gym for anyone interested in beginning thier fitness journey.

Valley Apex and Coach James have developed a wonderful program for athletes for all ages. Their aid of development has improved my daughter immensely and their trainings offer game like scenarios and works on techniques that are important to the game of hockey.

Amazing cannot say enough good things about this place- the coaches and owners are amazing. This is by far my favorite gym.

My son really enjoyed the learn to train 2.0 program and made so much progress by the end of the week. The ratio of people helping to skaters was so great for correcting skills and proper development of new skills. The kids seemed engaged the entire time and were excited to go back each day.

I’ve been working out at Valley Apex for the past 2 hockey off seasons and the programs that they have put me through are the best in the business. Based on our prior experiences with Kevin, we had high expectations going in, however he has by far exceeded them all during this program. For starters, we are seeing immediate improvements in our son’s game, his confidence has increased exponentially as a result of the one-on-one support and strength-based approach taken in the 2.0 program. Our son loves watching himself on the videos, and hearing the analysis of his skills, we review all the content as a family and feel it keeps us as parents very involved in his development. Kevin is amazing at explaining concepts to the kids, and why they are important in language they understand and respond to. His energy and passion for working with them is instantly apparent as is the level of respect and appreciation the players have for him. Kevin is excellent with children. My son has ADHD and gets quite anxious with adults that are hard on him or are too aggressive. But, when he’s on the ice with Kevin, he doesn’t want the session to end! That speaks volumes to me about the way that Kevin speaks to and interacts with the children! Keep up the positive and fun atmosphere Kevin! We are definitely coming back for more!

Laura and Kevin are both so friendly, professional and knowledgeable in what they do and always make you feel welcome. My 11 year old started working with Kevin attending off ice conditioning, various hockey camps and most recently a private defensive skating session. I must say I was blown away. We walked away from that session with side by side comparisons of our sons technique to NHL stars with step by step video analysis, making it extremely easy for us to focus in on my sons weaker points. Gets the job done

I learnt a lot about CrossFit from Laura. I knew nothing and she made the workouts challenging but fun. The people were great. What a workout and you feel very good after finishing. Strongly recommend it to anyone

Coach James provides excellent feedback after every practice. He takes time and comes to the games to determine every weak point for the next practice and focus on those. I strongly recommend Valley Apex Training sessions to every goalie. Many more practices to come.
