While there, we were able to see their many outdoor exhibits and view their picture portfolios and well as speak with some of their current and past customers.Late last summer we had Steven, the owner and designer over to discuss the entire project; both pond remediation and backyard creation. To begin, we wanted a pool, gas fire pit and an outdoor bar.The process was quite impressive as we gave them a list of must haves and a budget for the project. We did have change orders for things we elected to add but once we signed, it couldn't have gone smoother. The project turned out amazingly like the electronic design plan they initially presented us with no unwanted surprises. They worked through the winter, around the early spring rains and we are now enjoying our backyard immensely.With our property, there was so much more complexity than what I'm able to describe here and we knew we couldn't turn this over to just any company based solely on price or promise. When the work began, which included installation of stone stairs, putting pavers around all the beds, installing gravel and plants as well as installing erosion prevention at the end of the property. It looks GREAT! We are so pleased. Now that we've done this much, when we go back next spring for some updates that we just thought of, we will definitely go back to Envisioning Green, Charles, Salvador and Frank! We just had two old retaining walls and landscaping torn out and leveled. They put in sod, a rock play area for our son, and a new fence. The guys were very professional and helpful. All my questions were answered quickly and efficiently. They did a great job, and were so patient with my 4 year old who got to watch everything happen every step of the way. My yard looks beautiful. We first learned of this talented company after just moving to the area from out of state in mid- June 2019 and received a mailer/ invitation to a September Patio BBQ open house to showcase their work. Their marketing flyer caught our attention so we went and were impressed with the quality and array of patio features they utilized to host their "Backyard BBQ" event. We were not completely sure what we wanted, but the down to earth people we spoke to like Pete Stewart spent a great deal of time with us showing us around and ultimately - worked with us to design our patio/ fire pit and swing project. We ended up booking an appointment to meet with Pete a week later and were impressed with his designs incorporating some of our ideas and thus broke ground approximately a month or so later in order to complete the project in time for our extended family Thanksgiving gathering at our new home.Our work crew of Jordan and Cole were fantastic and not only provided quality work daily, but were courteous and pleasant to work with. Jordan briefed us daily during the duration of the project and managed our expectations so we knew what would happen each day. He was receptive to our feedback and ensued the site was tidy each night before departing. They made it fun to watch and see the daily progress - even during the frigid temperature days this past November provided. We were tickled with the final result. Of note: When a feature of our swing needed to be adjusted after project completion, Jordan's supervisor and his team were back as soon as weather permitted and fixed the issue to our satisfaction.This company provides talented professionals that understand that customer satisfaction is their center of gravity! We will call Envisioning Green again this Spring and ask for Jordan and Cole to return to plant the shrubbery Pete recommended in his design plans to finish our phased project. I Don’t Want To Write This Review … Seriously. Having read the title, it would be understandable if your mind jumped to the assumption that I am preparing to present a plethora of faults with the company, the crew, the work … whatever. But nothing could be further from my thoughts. The reason for my not wanting to write this review is because reviews mark the end of something and I find it hard to meet this particular end; the people involved here, the ones leaving because their work is finished, are people I’ve come to so admire and care about. I’m 63 years old. I’ve hired contractors throughout my life for big jobs, small jobs and all of those in between. Too often I’ve been profoundly amazed at the level of incompetence displayed by self-proclaimed professionals; their work so shoddy that one simply had to accept the entirety of their training must have come from watching YouTube videos. After experiencing so many contractor related disappointments through the years, I finally came to often expect the worst as the new normal. At 62, I bought my retirement home and soon decided it needed some updates that were far beyond my own ability to complete. I began with a clear vision of what I wanted and began seeking out a company, a partner, that could bring my ideas to life. I called or visited companies large and not-so-large and even approached recommended individuals. Most all of these I asked said they couldn’t do what I wanted and those few that said they could really didn’t have the quality materials, proper experience or share vision that I was looking for. In that I would be spending my retirement money on one-time projects, I could no longer afford to have contractors that were only going to provide me with “good-enough” or less. Then I began searching the internet with key terms like outdoor fireplace, stone staircase, outdoor kitchen, etc.; began searching images of such projects that closely matched what I had imagined. Clicking on an image would sometimes provide a link to the company that had built the project. And that’s how it was I came to find an image, clicked on it and discovered a link to Envisioning Green. Lindsey Bigham answered the phone. I was in a mood and immediately launched into a rather loud and semi-accusatory rant the second she finished saying hello. ”Look”, I nearly shouted at her, “I have some projects in mind and I’ve been looking everywhere for someone to put it all together and I know exactly what I want but no one out there seems willing or able to do it and I found you by searching images on the internet but I’ve never heard of you and I just need some decent people who can be on the same page with me and …” Lindsey, taking advantage of my having to take a breath before going on with the rant, broke in. “OK, OK, calm down. It’ll be fine ...” She then went on to describe the company, the services, the personnel and then added that they were hosting a get-together for past, present and possibly future customers at their Caseyville facility later that evening; something they do several times a year; and that I was welcome to join them. Upon parking and exiting the car, I was blown away; could immediately see this was not your typical landscaping facility as full scale examples of their work were everywhere; an outdoor fireplace, one story pizza oven, outdoor kitchen and bar, various stone pathways and boulders, firepits, even a putting green; all of it functional and now being used to entertain their arriving guests outdoors. Keep in mind the old adage that reads “You get what you pay for”. Almost any project I can think of that you would ask Envisioning Green to build for you is likely to be a one-time thing and will likely outlive you; could easily be something that several generations might get to enjoy. I promise you won’t get that by trying to save a few dollars and submitting your dream to the lowest bidder. Less

Over time, the wall began to tilt outwards from the patio and towards the sloping terrain, and patio pavers on the patio s... More

Impressive ability to repair existing patio and wall! Envisioning Green installed a patio, fire place and wall about 2 years ago. The edge of patio, where the wall is, gives way to downward sloping terrain. There is an established flower bed on the outer portion of this wall. Over time, the wall began to tilt outwards from the patio and towards the sloping terrain, and patio pavers on the patio side of the wall began to settle. This was brought to Envisioning Green's attention and they set up a schedule to have their team look at it. Scheduling conflicts aside, the team showed up ready to analyze the situation and remedy it. Their plan consisted of digging under the wall to stabilize the sub soil, as well as putting in three concrete pillars, so that when done, the pillars would better support the weight of the wall. In addition, they planned to remove the pavers that settled, stabilize the soil under the affected part of the patio, and replace the pavers. Remember, this is an established patio and flower bed. The 3 team members managed to complete their plan in about 5 hours. They were so meticulous and careful that not a single plant/bush was destroyed. They dug around root balls to get under the wall and further dug 3-foot deep holes into which concrete was poured in order to establish the supporting pillars for the wall, all the while protecting the existing landscaping. With similar care and concern, they removed the pavers that had settled, re-stabilized the soil under them, and replaced the pavers in their original position. Once the subsoil under the wall was stabilized and the concrete for the pillars poured, Juan and his team put the dirt back in place and cleaned up the work area. They did such a great job, it was as if the area was never disturbed! The only thing that was different was the wall no longer leaned outward from the patio, and the pavers were level again. "Our $32,000" Landscaping Experience" Would like to start by saying I've never felt such a strong social responsibility to post a review for any professional services in which I've procured until having experienced the ultimate disappointment by Envisioning Green - except in our case - Envisioning Brown. I don't even know where to start but will try in the most succinct way. First the "crews" never arrived on the day / time stated - in fact the project started 4 weeks after the scheduled date and was not due to any sort of rain or weather event. I'm ok with delays - but the customer shouldn't be the one reaching out for updates repeatedly. Once work did begin - all was on track - removing old foliage / shrubs / etc... We were excited. This feeling didn't last long and soon turned to what I referenced above as ultimate disappointment. In order of events: Incorrect plants (per the agreed upon contract) were planted and had to be swapped out to the proper item once brought to their attention. The front beds that showed many Liriope in the fancy 3D rendering turned out to not be "included" and cost another $2,200 out of pocket on top of the $30k bid - majority of which all are now dead after the second season?? These knuckle heads decided drive a skid steer in the grass the day of a heavy down pour getting the rig stuck in HUGE - I'm not kidding - HUGE ruts around the entire property and covered their tracks with straw - 2 seasons later - we still have ruts and the grass never came back. At least this wasn't on the day of our daughters 4th birthday - Oh wait - it sure was. They cut our in ground sprinkler lines in two separate locations They cut through a sump drain pipe and had to come fix and relocate Probably the most shocking of the events is when these fellas literally tried to bait and switch us - the contract called for Pennsylvania Blue Stone pavers and showed us a piece of the natural stone when in their offices, but when came time to install - they brought MAN MADE CONCRETE FORMS - to which the lead on the project said we thought we'd like them better!!! Are you kidding me - they had to load them back up and then we had to wait to have the Blue Stone ORDERED - they never had intention of using the proper product per the contract. Once the Blue Stone did come in - they had a farmer - literally a farmer install the blue stone walk way and he couldn't figure it out - he stood there puzzled trying to lay combinations on how it should be configured and at one point told us it couldn't be done. At this point nothing that occurred shocked us because we felt like we had entered some sort of - is this even real life - scenario with this group of "professionals" Please let the pictures below serve as visual confirmation of our experience and as an update on the current state of our landscape to which all of the pencil holly has died - the large conifer tree has died and was replaced with different non-matching species - which is also now dying. All of the azaleas have died - the edging is sinking in many areas - the real PA Blue Stone pavers are sinking - and our pocket book sank by $32,000. Would RUN away from this company in the strongest sense of the word. Less
