Where to begin? My family and I have always preferred chiropractic/holistic medicine over traditional medicine, but Dr. Troyer takes chiropractic care to another level. I was suffering from an extremely stiff upper neck that was accompanied by tension headaches, frequent clicking/cracking, and other maladies that initially seemed unrelated to my neck pain. On the way to work one day, I happened to notice the 'Upper Cervical' sign from University and decided to give them a try. And boy, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The front desk staff is incredibly warm and inviting and made me feel comfortable from the minute I walked in. Dr. Troyer and Dr. Enga even took a brief moment to introduce themselves before my consultation. Today will be my fourth visit to Dr. Troyer and I have been thoroughly impressed by his knowledge, experience, and ability to leverage technology. My digital x-ray and neurocalograph revealed a subluxation in my C1 (atlas). Since my adjustment, my tension headaches and most of the stiffness have disappeared. Even my digestive system is back on track. It amazes me that he was able to do that without drugs and surgery like traditional medicine is known for. Rather than treating the effects or symptoms, Dr. Troyer adjusted the cause which is allowing my body to heal itself from the inside out, now that communication from my brain and to my body is unrestricted. Instead of sending me on my way without guidance, he took the time to explain what I need to do at home and in the workplace so that my adjustment holds. He also closely monitors my progress several times per week to ensure that my adjustment is holding. I LOVE the resting room! And the celebratory bell! What I love most about Dr. Troyer and the Upper Cervical philosophy is that he is an educator. From the get-go, he explained how the C1 (atlas) and C2 (axis) work and how subluxations can affect the body. He explained what I was looking at on the x-rays and neurocalographs. He used a physical model of the C1 and C2 to show me how my C1 subluxation was creating brain stem/nerve pressure. He used engaging videos, easy-to-read books, and other materials to educate because my health is a journey that doesn't end after one visit. I am so thankful for Dr. Troyer and his staff. They are all such wholesome people who truly care about you and your health. Chiropractic care like this is a necessary staple in every community. I have been a patient at the Cedar Falls Upper Cervical location for almost four years. Before receiving care, I woke up every morning with neck pain. I love these guys. They are friendly and professional. Since going my A1C has gone down and I don’t have ringing in my ears. Getting your spine aligned is very beneficial to your overall health. My neurologist refers to Dr. Troyer as a miracle worker. I had horrible symptoms (balance, dizziness, headaches) & through an MRI of my brain, a 2 cm pineal cyst was found. He mentioned that Upper Cervical was different than what I was used to but he assured me he could help me feel better. Dr. Troyer made it very clear from the moment I stepped into his clinic that Upper Cervical Health is about educating the patient on their body, how to listen to it, what’s happening and so on.
