Cannot recommend this highly enough. It has everything you need for a quiet relaxing holiday. We have been coming here for over 13years with our dogs and it never disappoints. James and his staff are always very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Lots of lovely walks and the local pub serves great food and is dog friendly too. We will be returning again next year without doubt.

We absolutely love this place, we have been 5 times now and loved it every time. The cabins are beautifully clean and well catered for with utensils etc. The hot tubs are well maintained and looked after, they come around twice a day to check them. The place is so peaceful with wonderful walks on your doorstep and not far from the local public house although we have not tried that yet, that’s on the list for next time. This time we brought our 2 year old Granddaughter with us as we were celebrating my birthday and found it was also a safe and wonderful environment for her. Can’t wait to be back 😀

Not our first visit to Mackinder and certainly not our last. If you want peace and tranquility this is the place to be. We stayed in one of the lodges. Home from home. Well equipped kitchen lovey clean towels and bedding. Lovely walks along the canal towpath. Have a walk to Selby see all the wildlife along the way. Then enjoy a relaxing time in the hot tub which is checked on twice a day by either James or one of his team. James is a great host ready to chat or just to be left alone. Also a pub about a 25 minute walk away great food and dog friendly. All in all we had a lovely relaxing and peaceful four days away. Thank you JamesFollowing on from my last review l have to let people know what a lovely relaxing place this is and how absolutely brilliant James and his team areAfter a stressful few months and things coming to ahead on Friday 17th April l looked online to see if there was an availability for the weekend was delighted that our favourite lodge was available. So l rang James and no hesitation from James saying get yourselves here and relax. So within a few hours we packed the car and drove for two hours to our bit of paradise. What else can l say arrived back today fully chilled and able to take on whatever is thrown at meOnce again James thank you so much. What a wonderful hideaway you have there. I will miss watching the sparrows flying around whilst having my coffee and laughing at the rabbits hopping around and being chased by baby rabbitsTake careOnce again thank you so so much James.

We have stayed at Mackinder Farms 4 times now and absolutely love it. It is such a lovely setting and all the lodges and pods are all private, with nobody looking onto your decking area which is good.The hot tub is a lovely extra and is such a nice way to relax after a day exploring or even just to chill if you're having a more relaxed day.The lodges are immaculate and have everything you need from cooking equipment to towels and even some slippers!The location is perfect if you want to explore the area. We have done the park and ride into York which is a20 minute drive away which is perfect. There is a lovely walk along the canal to, which we've done a few times.This place is like home to us as we can truly relax and enjoy the peaceful area but then also have the options for the city and the surrounding areas. Best of both worlds.Highly recommend a stay here!!

We are a large family group and have been coming to Mackinder Farms for Easter week for the past four years.It’s a fantastic location for us, as we come from all over the country and Selby is central and easy to reach. The site is spacious, with plenty of room between lodges, giving it a peaceful, wildlife-rich atmosphere—completely different from the huge, busy parks run by big companies. It’s convenient for shopping in Selby and also for exploring much of Yorkshire, thanks to its central location.The lodges, cottages, and surrounding green spaces are all well maintained. The children love having acres of grass to run and play on. Each unit is private, but it’s easy to book multiple units close together, so groups can stay near to each other without feeling crowded or impinging upon other guests.James the owner and manager, is always friendly, enthusiastic, and clearly dedicated to the place. He and his team work hard to maintain everything and respond quickly to suggestions or any issues that arise. He has also been flexible and considerate with bookings and pricing, which makes the whole experience feel very relaxed and accommodating.The whole site is dog friendly. You can bring a dog and stay in any if the units. You can walk them all around the site and down the adjacent canalside path.The hot tubs are excellent—clean, warm, and meticulously maintained. All the cottages and lodges are comfortably furnished and well cared for. The site is very energy efficient, so it takes a little time to get used to the underfloor heating, but staff are always happy to explain how it works.The pods are small and secluded, making them ideal for couples. Even the two-bedroom lodges and cottages have generous living spaces, so it’s easy to relax and spend time together in each other's houses. . The whole site feels safe and private, especially for children.While not every lodge or cottage has its own washing machine, there is a communal wash house at the top of the site with both a washing machine and a dryer.The site works well for adults whether for small conferences or retreats, but the children love it just as much. With so many activities and busy schedules in their everyday lives, coming here gives them the chance to run and play with their cousins and the dogs and enjoy a sense of freedom—just pure holiday fun.

We have just returned from our second visit here this year and can't wait to book again. Our first stay was in the forge which Is fantastic, it's light and spacious with some of the old charm still on view, the hot tub was ready on arrival and was checked twice daily every day by James the owner who is extremely friendly and helpful, he gave us lots of information about the properties history as well as the local area and where to visit. Our second visit has been to the woodcock which was surprisingly spacious and the photos online do not do it justice. It's very private and perfect for a couples break, the views from the terrace of the sunsets were amazing and again james was on hand to help and there testing the hot tub twice daily. He gave us tips for nice walks in the local area and even sent a further text later with more options, he goes over and beyond and you can see the love he has for what he does. If we were to stay as a couple again we would definitely choose the woodcock but the forge is excellent for a family. There are larger pods too but we loved the "hobbit house"feel of the rounded pod. Thank you James we can't wait to stay with you again. X

Fantastic place loads of places to go walking we walked for 3.4 miles with 2 kids down the canal and round in to burn and back didn’t see anyone if you want piece and quite this is the place to go it was a last minute holiday for us and we will definitely be returning soon

Beautiful peaceful tranquil what a lush place to stay. Very relaxing. The pod we stayed in was cosy and clean with a modern feel had everything u needed. The porch area was lovely too looking out into nature. Fab hot tub to relax in. The area is surrounded with great walks along the canal. Would defo recommend staying here.

We booked the lapwing lodge for a few nights after our wedding and it was perfect ..really tranquil and relaxing a real hidden gem. It was close by to everything we needed but once back on site it was like you were miles away from anything. We will be definitely booking again. The communication from start to finish was excellent and we would highly recommend 👌 💯

Hi, I have been going to Mackinder farms every summer since 2017, but missed 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I also have a TBI(traumatic brain injury) which means @ the start of going i was under a 24 hour care package. This meant i have always had x2 support workers with me. Happily this has now reduced down to having support for just part of the day and no staffing team with me over night @my home now. James the owner has always accommodated myself and my staffing team with the upmost respect, gratitude and dignity. There is no staff of his team that gets in the way of your time@mackinder nor James himself. If there is any issue that arises it gets dealt with immediately. Thus making for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. He also provides a hot tub spa which gets checked x2 daily for chlorine and maintenance making for such a pleasurable break away :-).

It was our first time staying at Mackinder and we will definitely be returning! We got married at Berts Barrow which is nearby so the bridal party, groom&groomsmen and family all stayed in 3 of Mackinders accommodations.All the lodges were spotless upon arrival, and had such a homely feel. There was plenty of room for us all, and the fresh milk in the fridge was a lovely touch. We all enjoyed our stay, the outdoor area and hot tubs are so well maintained too!After our wedding, myself and my husband stayed in Woodcock which was stunning! Highly recommend😍We all have some fantastic memories made at Mackinder, thank you so much for everything James. We will see you again soon!Kira & Reece x
