One suggested we buy a brace, which we did, and it turned out to be a waste of almost a grand. Basically, our Frisbee chasing rocket was going to be crippled for the rest of his life. We had been scheduled for a trip to Key West and while approaching Silver Springs FL, mechanical issues with our motor home forced us to cancel the Key West trip in route. While we were waiting on repairs, we happened to hear about Dr. Rullan at the Equine Performance Innovative Center, and that his patients (mostly horses) were showing great results from his treatments. With nothing to lose, we visited his facility and both he and his operation were impressive to say the least. What a wonderful, down to earth, caring man and what a wonderful staff. Ryker began treatment a short time later, which consisted of timely Adequan injections, Stem Cell injections, Shockwave and Magna wave treatments, and Aqua pacer therapy. Yeah, that’s a bunch of stuff! But the result is Ryker is now walking normally, and there is very little sign of him ever being hurt. As the Stem Cell injections require months to fully repair the damage, Ryker will need to be confined to walking on a leash for another 3-4 months. A lot of care will need to be taken that he doesn’t re-injure his new growing tendons. But we can do that! We arrived at Equine Center with a crippled dog and very little hope for changing his future. We are leaving with a dog well on his way to recovery, and lots of hope that he will reengage with his Frisbee in the near future. We can’t thank Dr. Rullan and his staff enough for the wonderful treatment they have provided and the incredible medical achievements they are bringing to their animal patients. I took a chance and quietly asked Bentley if she would be able to let Carter see the pony when the other kids were done. Like many other people with Autism, Carter can easily become overwhelmed with sensory stimulation and it takes him time to warm up to things. Sadly I often watch Carter miss out on things because the world moves too fast and sadly people just don't have the time to wait for him. Bentley immediately knelt down and talked to Carter...just talked to him. There were other people waiting and I am certain Bentley had alot to do, but she made Carter a priority. She told Carter what the pony felt like and asked him if he wanted to pet him. Carter initially said no and actually started to get nervous but Bentley was just so sweet to him and reassured him it was alright. Carter actually came back and pet the pony!!!!!! I am sure that to most people this is a small thing but to me and Carter it was EVERYTHING! Carter's sister and dad came by a few minutes later and Carter was so proud that he ran back to Bentley and the pony to show them what he did. It's now Sunday night and Carter is STILL talking about that experience. Thank you so much for taking the time to let Carter shine. You gave him (and his family) a memory that will last a lifetime. 2017 - Samantha has been at Performance Equine Veterinary Services since Saturday. She has been lame for quite some time. I felt like although my farrier was doing all he could we were just working blind. After going for a set of xrays Saturday. I decided go take her back for a venograph and insulin blood work on Monday. Let me start by saying how amazing this place and every person there is. I was a wreck the whole drive - not knowing, thinking the worse, leaving my heart horse over an hour from home with STRANGERS. We arrived, unloaded Sam and William the technician came to ask if it was ok for Ogden to give Sam a bath. Ogden doesn't speak English so couldn't ask me himself. Uhh ok - sure. Then this complete stranger spent an hour washing every inch of my horse. Talking to her, scrubbing, telling her it was gonna be ok... I helped but kept splashing water in my face because I was crying from relief that These folks really cared about Sam. Next Dr. Rulan came early to do the venograph because I wanted to be there to watch.. it was super cool (I've included pictures). Amazing to watch 5 people, each with a specific job, all working in sync. It was like watching some intricate dance. More than once someone would apologize for speaking Spanish (to a groom or a technician) in front me but even not understanding what was being said I was certain that the best care was being taken of Sam. Dr. Rulan explained in detail what they were doing and then what the result were. I left Monday realizing that every single person on there staff are true horsemen and that Sam was in the best possible hands. I went back Tuesday to visit and realized wow this is one of those fancy sport performance horse vet places... all the best technology, horsey pools, vibrating plates, layover barns, talented educated vets and million dollar horse clients... the thing is everyone treated my little trail horse like she was one of those fancy pants expensive horses... same care, same treatment. Wednesday was farrier day. Dr. Rulan took the time to come back and meet with the farrier, study xrays and develop a plan. Then xrayed her after shoeing was done. It was also really cool that the farrier used to work where Sam was born and has other mares from Cross Creek that I got to see. Today is Thursday and blood results came back. She is Insulin Reistant but it can be controlled with medication. Her feet still have good blood circulation so with corrective shoeing for a while, she should make a full recovery. I have to travel next week and have made the decision to leave her in their care another week rather than bring her home. I know they will doctor her sores and give her meds. I know that she is safe and cared for. This has been a rollercoaster week but let me say a giant Thank You to God! Sam and I not only found out how to fix her problems but we now have extended family at Performance Equine Veterinary Services! 2019 - Sam is sound and still. being shod by Edwin the amazing farrier. On several occasions I needed to call and each time the person answering the phone calmed me down, answered my questions or got someone who could. I've also recommended 4 people over the past 2 years and they have all had amazing experiences. Less

His thorough evaluation revealed the culprit and his treatment plan, which included laser, shock wave, and swimming (Galway LOVED the swimming!) and then a gradual return to activity has Team Galway back competing and he looks more comfortable than he has in years. I can't say enough good things about the communication we received from the staff and from Dr. Rullan as they kept us abreast of his progress during the 2 months he spent there. And I was always comfortable having him at their beautiful facility with their attentive staff. Likewise, the contact and follow-up once we had him home was great. As was the coordination of care between Dr. Rullan and our barn vet. He and his entire team were definitely invested in us, our horse, and his recovery -- both professionally and emotionally. I would not wish a soft-tissue injury on any horse, but this one put us in contact with some great people who feel like friends now as much as they do care-givers. Dr. Cardona was great in diagnosing our lameness issues with a 19 yr OTTB who now after injections to the stifle and hip can be ridden again and is sound. One of our donkeys had a front leg lameness issue and was treated also and is sound. Very pleased. Good communication and follow up

Dr Alberto Rullan was recommended to me by another horse farm. Dr Alberto Rullan is wonderful. Had many vet’s come out and couldn’t figure out one of our lameness issues. After a set of x-ray’s and his examination he knew exactly what was wrong and corrected the problem and had a solution. These guys really know there stuff! And are top notch and are up to date with the newest equipment.

My horse sustained a serious wound to his leg. In true PEVS fashion, Dr. Traywick has checked in with me daily to monitor healing. Ever since becoming a client of Dr. Rullan and PEVS, I have always maintained that he and his staff treat their clients like family. Went to this place for a P Squared Field Trip. They gave us a tour of the place and were very kind. The equipment they use is amazing. It is pretty neat how they take care of horses and give them therapy. I recommend taking your horse there if you ever need a service that they provide.

Ok all with IRMA behind us all, and most of the mess that IRMA left for all of us to clean up, I finally had the time to sit down a post a review. I don’t normally provide reviews, comments, or opinions on Web or Facebook pages, but this time I thought it important. I live in South Central of Marion County Florida and have for years. We have this very old mini horse (Sunny Boy) 28 inches tall and 23 years old that was having breathing problems last Friday evening. It came out of nowhere so we were really caught off guard. He was gasping for air and honking like a goose. You could tell he was struggling for every breath, seems his trachea had collapsed. We have used Performance Equine Veterinary Services in Summerfield Florida in the past, with great results, so we knew whom to call right away. Within 30 minutes, Dr. Ellis Traywick rolled on to our property and immediately started treating old Sunny Boy. She asked questions, dug for information, examined, and performed the necessary x-rays on Sunny and took quick deliberate action. Through the medications she administered and the procedures she did to Sunny boy, he was breathing easy and normal within 40 minutes after she arrived. Dr. Traywicks ability to quickly assess the situation, provide clear solutions, explaining her every move along the way, made the wife and I feel extremely at ease. The doctor has a way of making you feel like you are her only concern, that you and your animal are part of the Performance Equine family, and that she cares about her customers and the animals equally. Another time, Dr. Guillermo has come to our rescue when our mare Colicked. Again, the Vet arrived quickly and stormed in was his team, performed several procedures, and had our girl up and walking within 2 hours. I can not say enough good things about these folks. They have saved our animals and provided so much comfort to the wife and I. They really do make you feel like you are part of their family, and make sure they provide the best care possible for your animal. It’s common for the treating Veterinarian to call several times after treatment just to check the status of your animal and make sure they are OK. I really cant complain about their prices either, they are very competitive and reasonable. I mean owning a bunch of big critters is expensive, but they do make it a little less painful on the wallet. In fact for the level of care, attention to detail, and rapid response…….I’d pay a bit more. But…shhhhhhhhh…….don’t tell them that!!!! Less

1. The correct use of a line on a horse's tail while swimming is not to hold the horse back but to hold up (providing upward support to) the horse's rear end to prevent the horse from sinking and thereby drowning. When instructed to use a line on my horse's tail this instruction was ignored with the red-herring argument that holding him back would cause chiropractic problems. Again, the goal is to hold UP his rear end (up is not back, 'up' being a more upward support while 'back' being force only in a rearward direction) to prevent his rear end from sinking which prevents the horse from sinking & drowning. UP is not BACK. UP and BACK are two separate words with two separate meanings. With no tail line my horse sank and almost died. This would have been prevented with a tail line. This was blamed on a chiropractic problem and epm. The chiropractor visited and said he had no chiropractic problem. The epm test was negative. There will NEVER be any end in any way whatsoever in the literally endless stream of variety of reasons given in Ocala for ignoring an owner's instructions. 1000 years from now, an owners instructions in Ocala will still be ignored. Perhaps rubbing the skin off behind his chin with the specific headgear equipment used while swimming also decreased my horse's desire to move forward. 2. Hitting is contact that causes pain. It was agreed that there would be no hitting of my horse. My young horse has loaded on a trailer many times with a lead line snapped to the bottom ring of the halter with no chain. I never use a chain and have never used a chain on him. He always quietly walked onto the trailer and had lately not even paused while walking onto the trailer. The handler (Mike) saw fit to use loading as a moment for a HARD jerk on the chain that the handler had wrapped around my horses head from top right down to right nose then over the nose to the left. This obviously produced pain. My horse flipped over backwards and fell on the ground. Horses often die from this. 3. So, lets recap: My instruction to use a tail line to hold UP (not back) my horse's rear end was ignored and my horse almost died. My instruction to not utilize pain was ignored and my horse almost died. Thats two incidents of my instructions being ignored which resulted in two near-death incidents. Who is the expert here? It's not the individuals who's actions resulted in near death incidents. Perhaps it is the individual who's instructions if followed would have avoided the near death incidents which happened within two short weeks. I ask who is the expert here because one of the infinite variety of 'reasons' given in Ocala for always ignoring the Owners instructions is that the owner is not an expert. All evidence considered and relatively speaking, I Am The Expert. It is true, there are many owners that avoid the effort involved in understanding the consequences of actions taken with horses and those owners will have to explain that to God who is not taking flimsy answers. But it is not every owner, and in this case ignoring my instructions was disaster in rapid fire succession. Perhaps I should apologize for apparently being about 1000 times more wise than I must look. This may be a consequence of manners combined with 5 decades studying horses, manners being sadly so rare in the overall horse world that management mis-identified it as idiocy, the difference of course being that my horse will never return to 'The Sanctuary'. Management (the decision makers) should have acted as instructed per the Expert Owner. On the upside, the non-decision-maker Ladies assisting horses in the horses' daily lives (mucking, feeding, holding and leading) are true Ladies in the very best sense of the word, are rare experts, well-mannered, and when I am taking on a crew I would love to hire them for my own stable. The non-decison-maker Ladies are literally worth far more than their weight in gold considering the millions of dollars in purses and stud fees obtainable by the top equine stars of racing. Less

My horse was at the Sanctuary facility this year, and most people would agree that it is a beautiful center with great options to help your horse. With any business, the people that you employ can make or break your success. I did not have a good experience with the managers of the facility. When I specifically asked that my horse NOT be handled in a specific manner, IT FELL ON DEAF EARS. It was requested upon drop off and while I was there. For the safety of the staff and my horse, an incident occurred that surprisingly did not kill my horse or the manager of the facility. It would be helpful if the past and current managers would hear the concerns of the client and respect them. Not returning phone calls and leaving a client to feel "less than" is not a way to managing someone else's business. I hope the owners of this wonderful facility can find the appropriate staff who are mature, business savvy, and respectful to the client and their animals. I give the facility 5 stars, but was pressed to even give the managers two. Less
