Dr. Zimmerman care was night and day from care received from every other neurologist I visited, and I that was quite a few. He ran tests that gave concrete data on my condition, helped me really understand what was going on with my concussion, and provided treatments and medications with life changing results. The staff at Idaho Brain and Body Institute are all very pleasant to interact with. I am so glad I was referred to them. At fist visit I had trouble putting complete understandable sentences together due to the concussion. After their excellent treatments I am back to pre car crash status. No one knows how it truly feels to have a brain injury unless you’ve been through it firsthand. My journey was the most difficult journey I’ve been through. When I came into Dr Zimmermans office (after hearing countless phenomenal reviews about him from friends and family as well as other doctors in the valley), I was a hot mess. My brain injury had completely taken over my life to the point where I couldn’t drive, couldn’t hold a job, couldn’t even do basic tasks (such as grocery shopping or even finishing a movie I had started watching) because of how much pain I was in. I came into Dr Zimmermans office (my husband and I gave him the funny nickname of “D-Zimmy”, because he really is that awesome), and D-Zimmy tested me and said I had a severe concussion. While sitting in his office he asked me one question. “How badly do you want your life back?” I began treatment with him extensively for two weeks, and by the end of those two weeks I was able to drive and work part time. He helped me go on a diet, restore my balance, fix my light sensitivity, rebuild my memory, alleviate my nausea, and get rid of my mood swings. He helped me get off of medication that i didn’t even know was damaging my brain and body, and put me on natural supplements that gave me all the benefits of prescription medication without the side effects and harm that it can do to your brain. In January I found out I have Lyme disease and along with that discovery, I found out that most traditional Doctors won’t/can’t help treat Lyme disease patients due to FDA restrictions. My only option appeared to be a Lyme specialist, which was going to cost enormous amounts of money because insurance doesn’t cover Lyme specialists. So an appointment and whatever treatment they were going to put me on was going to be well over $1,000. Just for that one appointment. I felt hopeless. And that’s when I had the amazing fortune to come across Dr. Zimmerman. He gave me the hope I so desperately needed. He is very knowledgeable in regards to traditional medicine, but also homeopathic care as well. He helped me to come up with a realistic nutrition plan and put me on a rigorous supplement plan. He also stressed the importance of lifestyle- getting ample sleep, low impact exercise (I tend to try and push too hard in this aspect and he helped to teach me why this is actually a disservice to my recovery), water consumption, etc. and most importantly, he was with me every step of the way.
