I’ve been coming to Laura and Sean for the past year and I couldn’t say enough amazing things about them. I came to Sean because after a series of injuries (breaking several bones in my body and tearing my hamstring). I not only couldn’t work out anymore but the compensations I developed throughout recovery had taken away the ability to even walk without severe pain in my lower back,hip,knee and ankle. During the process of rehabilitating my body I realized the weight I had gained wasn’t coming off like it used to when I was younger so Sean recommended me to see Laura for nutrition and that’s when the game really changed. I never realized the importance of nutrition timing to keep my body fueled through out the day while still being able to cut the fat off without starving myself. While the process is slow in both aspects of the restorative training and nutrition if you’re able to stay accountable they truly give you the ability to be able to take the tools/information and turn it into lifestyle habits. Laura can’t help you. Just Google the macros formula, calculate your own macros, get the free 3rd party app she has you use anyway and save yourself the money. She won’t meal plan with you, doesn’t provide any recipes, won’t review your recipes with you, and is pretty judge-y tbh (which is obviously not great for a weight loss program). She simply wants you to log all of your food through MyFitnessPal and then talk about your progress with her each week and “ask questions”. Well, don’t ask “what food should I eat? Do you have any recipes? Can you look over these recipes with me to tell me if they’re good or ideas on how to replace ingredients? What do I do if I mess up and don’t meal plan for a day?” Cause she can’t (won’t?) answer those questions or help give you ideas. Also, communication isn’t great. Over the 2 month period I was working with her, we spoke once and emailed a handful of times. I will admit I’m not great at reaching out, but I wasn’t exactly ignoring her. It seemed like the onus was completely on me. I also found out *accidentally* WEEKS after we started working together that the whole time she didn’t have access to the food I was logging in MyFitnessPal. She never even reached out to be like, “hey are you logging? Cause I can’t see it!” Then one week I was going to be on vacation and I didn’t have the time to talk with her on the phone for an hour, so I asked if we could email and that was clearly an annoyance for her. I also told her that it I actually liked emailing a little bit better because it was easier for me to reference her information; go back and reread it have it in writing instead of having to feverishly take notes while I was having a conversation with her about a bunch of stuff I don’t understand (eat this when you’re eating this because it counteracts this, etc.). I’m also a mom with a family and a full time job, so while I had no problem talking to her on the phone, I thought if we could email all of the big important stuff throughout the week, then our phone calls wouldn’t have to be an hour and a half long each time. She wasn’t about it. Finally, I said “whatever” and just stopped emailing back and cut my losses, and she was fine with just taking my money and not reaching out (they have you pay up front). About a month later she had her husband Sean reach out instead, who I also trained with and was great, until he involved himself in the situation and “took her side” instead of being a neutral arbiter and/or “manager”, which was weird and unprofessional. I have tried all other conventional methods of pain management (chiro, acupuncture, injections, etc) and several rounds of physical therapy to simply be stuck in this pain cycle. I work with Sean both remotely as well as in person and he’s able to seamlessly combine the two. While working remote Sean is extremely quick to answer any questions I have, does an incredible job explaining each exercise, has a weekly call to check in on how things are going, and really puts in the energy and effort to adapt the program based off the equipment I have. While working in person Sean is attentive, he goes above and beyond to get me in with my busy and unpredictable schedule, has a contagious energy, and provides a level of comfortability I’ve never experienced before. Whether working remote or in person the Sean Jacobs app he uses is super easy to navigate, provides both individualized as well as more generic mobility routines, tracks previous workouts effortlessly, has an abundant library of exercises with videos explaining each one, and allows users to track nutrition metrics as well as other various wellness metrics like sleep and water intake. Sean’s actual programming is unique and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. His holistic approach to fitness benefits me not only athletically but on a general health level too. His focus on breath work, posture, biomechanics, and recovery benefit me athletically but even more so in my every day life. Being an exercise science major in college and an athlete my whole life, knowing the “why” behind my programming is crucial for me. I’ve strength trained most of my adult life, but I have been doing CrossFit for the past year which consists of lots of complex movements and high intensity workouts. At 35 this transition has not been the easiest, and even though I really enjoy CrossFit, and I’ve become somewhat good at it, I started experiencing shoulder pain. This pain was preventing me from giving it my all during my workouts, and progressing with my fitness journey, which is frustrating, and of course, it was damn uncomfortable. I did six sessions with Sean to try to nip my shoulder pain in the bud. Not only was I able to get rid of my shoulder pain, but I have gained so much overall knowledge that I’m able to apply daily to increase my efficiency and strength! Sean is extremely knowledgeable about the way the body is engineered and has extensive experience in the field. He knew just by looking at my posture and my lifts that some of my muscles were overcompensating for others. I’m assuming this happened because of my previous workout regimen wasn’t comprehensive enough to prepare me for CrossFit. Sean also knew that my diaphragm lacked mobility just by watching me breathe which he mentioned also limits mobility in other areas of your body like your shoulders, and hips, along with limiting my endurance. Sean’s approach has been completely different from any fitness/mobility class I’ve ever attended. We focused on breathing techniques, body awareness, mobility, and strength. He also taught me about the importance of nose breathing. I am now more mindful of my body positioning and breathing during my lifts and I have incorporated a few specialized mobility and breathing exercises that Sean created just for me! My PRs have gone up and so has my endurance and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my results. Like I mentioned before, I went to Sean to fix my shoulder pain, but I left with so much more! Having had many trainers over twenty years, I understand how the relationship evolves - Jacobs Fitness is essential for learning the core essentials for YOUR BODY. I have been 100% satisfied that Sean has my wellness top of mind. He offers a wealth of knowledge and skill needed to create a solid foundation based on my body and make modifications on the spot. Sean is absolutely incredible. I have worked with high-level trainers since I was 16 playing sports my whole life, Sean is top tier. With three knee surgeries and several lingering injuries I never felt fully healthy for a long time. After going to Sean he put me on a program where we worked on flexibility , pliability, and overall bodyweight strength before we even touched weights. A lot of warming up and stretching.. which was tedious but it was a mr Miyagi moment once we started lifting and increasing the intensity of the workouts… no pain, stronger, faster, more durable. I learned things about form & technique that I was never taught in for the first time in years I’d leave the work out and wake up the next day with only muscle soreness no aches no pains. His wife Laura was amazing to work with when it came to diet, and counting my macros etc. I learned a ton about nutrition through her. Sean is the GOAT and they are a power couple .. When I suffered an injury over two years ago I explored every avenue, in not only relieving my pain, but also in getting my quality of life back. Chiropractor, orthopedist, massage therapy, kryo-therapy, acupuncture, MRIs and physical therapy. I resorted to a standing desk at work, CBD oil and a tens unit when I slept. At 50 years old I thought this was my new normal. I was introduced to Sean and I was intrigued by the depth of our discussion and the digging he did into all of my symptoms. I went into a program with him cautiously, but in a matter of 3-4 weeks there was a significant change not only in my pain but also in what my body was tolerating. I was back on the treadmill and the day I cleaned house (mopping/vacuuming)with no pain afterwards I knew something was changing. I’m slowly getting stronger and my body is tolerating more physical movement and daily activities with little to no pain. Sean is the one who consistently reaches out to me and builds my program from the feedback he gets from me. It’s been about 8 weeks and although I am not back in the gym yet lifting weights. I can not express how vital this is to have Sean train you. he has fixed my hips and now my shoulders are next. I was plateauing in athletics and then doing these exercises through the app took me to the next level. he even has knowledge outside of muscles such as breathing. make sure to ask him to teach you how to breath! best in the business

Jacobs Fitness was exactly what I was looking for in terms of improving my mobility and getting a solid foundation for my workouts and nutrition plan. After 2 rounds of physical therapy and a vascular surgeon telling me I could not lift weights if I wanted to treat my thoracic outlet syndrome, Sean helped me reached the finish line with clearing my symptoms pretty much completely. Sean is a down to earth guy and helps you in a very detailed manner with the in person training. If you go the route of online training, their personal built app is very detailed and you can tell Sean puts amount of effort into recording his demonstrations. In regards to nutrition planning, Laura was extremely detailed in her plan. I wasn't new to counting macros so I didn't need too much help but she helped with switching up my meals and grocery list. I tore my Achilles in fall of 2020 and after major surgery and quite a bit of tedious physical therapy that left a lot to be desired, according to my insurance company I was “recovered.” The truth is that I was nowhere near fully rehabbed—just well enough to hurt myself again and file another claim. This is when I came to Sean and JF, who set me up on an ambitious plan to not just get my Achilles back to performance standards, but also address some deeper imbalances that have left me so injury proned for years. Sean had a balanced approach and personalized my program to meet my specific needs. The videos are super digestible and make it easy to follow the movements. And the training is top notch. I’ve gotten rid of both hip and ankle pain in a few shorts. I’ve also improved my squat form and am getting stronger because I’m moving more naturally again. I can’t recommend this app and the content enough! Sean is phenomenal. My previous trainer did not care about my progression or take the time to put together detailed video as you do. I paid her 100$ per month to ultimately send me pre-made workouts not designed to help me. You are worth MUCH more than you charge and I appreciate the value you bring with training and nutrition. Sean is an amazing trainer, but more than that he is an amazing person. He has a great deal of patience while training and his instruction is spot on. My suggestion is to train at least 3 times a week for best results. Go Jacob Fitness

She was incredibly supportive day in and day out. She didn’t just listen to our feedback, she truly heard us and adjusted our macros and training according to how our bodies reacted. She was extremely proactive throughout the process. She taught us how to have a good relationship with food and enjoy the process of competing, which I think can be difficult to do. Also, because she has competed in bikini for many years, she has a solid balance of the science behind what she is suggesting, as well as the practical application. If you are trying to get pronounced results, this is an incredible investment. Especially, if you’re trying to shred, it’s 100% necessary because when you start to get hungry, you need to know that someone is looking out for you. And these two have put themselves through it all, so you can relax, stick to the plan, and see results.
