CrossFit Reality

I've been CrossFitting since 2012 and have trained at several different boxes over the years, so I know what makes a gym stand out. I landed at CrossFit Reality after my previous gym closed, and it's been a great find. What I love most is the community. Honestly, I haven't been to a gym with a community this diverse and open in a long time. A lot of CrossFit gyms can develop a cliquey vibe without even realizing it, and that can be a real turnoff for new members or people who are just a little different from the "regulars." CrossFit Reality is the opposite of that — it's genuinely welcoming, no cliques, and no one is ever left out. People go out of their way to include newcomers and make sure everyone feels like they belong, regardless of fitness level, background, or how long they've been coming. It's a rare thing to find, and it says a lot about the culture the owners have built. That community spirit extends beyond the gym walls too — they even put together a float for the Long Beach Pride Parade, which speaks to how inclusive and involved they are in the broader community. The coaches are knowledgeable and really focus on form, which makes a huge difference in how much you improve over time. The owners, who also coach, are approachable and down-to-earth — they often bring their two dogs to the gym, which adds a great vibe. They also run tons of events and challenges that keep the community engaged. For parents, there's a room where kids can hang out if you need to bring them (I have two kids myself, and while I usually don't bring them since it's easy for them to get underfoot, the option is there). They even run a CrossFit Kids program over the summer. The programming follows Mayhem Affiliate programming and is well-rounded too — beach WODs in the summer, Hyrox training, and Olympic lifting. One thing that really sets CrossFit Reality apart: there are a lot of CrossFit and CrossFit-style gyms in the Long Beach area, and not all of them are well kept. This facility is a standout — it's spacious and immaculately clean. The bars, bumper plates, rig, tower, and bikes are all in great shape, and there are three bathrooms plus a shower, all spotless. If you've been to gyms that feel cramped or a little run-down, the difference here is noticeable right away.Highly recommend CrossFit Reality if you're looking for a gym with real community, solid coaching, and a facility that's actually taken care of.
