Having been in-and-out of the workout scene for a while now, I can definitely say with confidence that Flambeaux Fit has revived my interest in strength-training and the like. I've been going for close to a month now, and I am so, so happy I did the damn thing and joined! One of my favorite things about this gym and the people is that they make it a point to be inclusive. You won't ever feel like you have to tip-toe your way around anyone at the gym which was a major factor in my decision on signing up. Going to the gym is supposed to excite you (even if the workout sounds dreadful) instead of having you doubling over with anxiety because you might find yourself overly self-conscious. Before even entering the building I received a FaceTime from Dylan who gave me background on the gym, their mission and walked me through how their classes work. I decided to go on a Saturday , I was planning on going with a friend because trying new gyms is scary. When my friend couldn’t make it I decided not to bail and still attend. When I walked in I was greeted immediately by their wife and then given a tour of their gym. They have a space for open gym, and a child care area, then I sat and waited for class to start. Fully expecting to be left alone while everyone else comes in and chit chats because they’ve known each other for a while, that was not the case. Flambeaux fit community were quick to notice me and ask what time I normally attend classes because they hadnt seen me before, when I said I was trying the gym out everyone introduced themselves and encouraged me throughout the workout. Now, to the workout.. it consisted of stretch, warm up, and workout displayed on a whiteboard ( in the app - workouts for the whole week are displayed so you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into). They communicated several modifications and there was always a coach by me watching my form, and giving me feedback which is so important to me. The team encourages each other throughout the workout. I’ve had a hard time finding a spot that made me feel like I was home. I resulted to joining a gym where I could be invisible and dread the class. This gym made me so excited to talk about it at my hair salon, I called my sister, I’m posting this review. He listens to my needs, accommodates my workout for all of my old sports ailments, and is encouraging yet patient. I've also participated in the nutrition course, which taught me that I CAN eat some of my favorite foods, but in moderation if it works for my daily goals. As someone who is very gym shy, Flambeaux makes me feel right at ease and super comfortable with what I’m doing. I’m just a few months I’ve already seen more progress from my one on ones with Dillon than I have with previous PTs for much longer. I can’t recommend it enough!

I have been doing 1-1 sessions with Dillon for about 4 months now. He always is taking my specific needs (replaced acl) into consideration when designing work outs for me. In just this short amount of time, I can feel my balance getting better and my strength building with each session. I wish I could give more than 5 stars with what Flambeaux Fit has given me.

Looking to get into a fitness routine but don't know where to start !? Flambeaux will help you get into that routine . If you feel intimidated like me by going to the gym and working out in general well this place makes you feel like family the second you walk through the door. Everyone from the owners, to the coaches to the members are so supportive. I came in from doing zero workouts and I am not in the best shape. I didn't even know what half of the workouts were and am still learning. Each class the coaches and members will take the time to make sure you know what you're doing and how to do it safely. They can also make modifications to workouts for things you may not be able to do whether it be from an injury or a health reason they make sure that you are doing what is safest and best for you ! They root for you the entire time even if you're a little slower than the rest of the class (AKA me) . The support level from everyone is unreal and the motivation is constant. It is only my first month at Flambeaux but I can tell a difference in my mood and my activity level already ! Flambeaux makes me look forward to working out (yes I know that sounds crazy LOL but it's true). I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. The owners are very methodical about class content both on a given day, and how it fits into a 6-week strength cycle or aesthetic cycle. Furthermore, Dillon King’s nutritional programming and coaching has been extremely helpful to me losing fat and retaining muscle — and still getting stronger. The gym has for years offered a weekly endurance class & weekly Olympic lifting class, and has now added a weekly yoga class and weekly powerlifting class. Coach Missy’s O lifting is always wonderful. I appreciate how i can get all of this at one gym and not have to have multiple gym memberships. The location is perfect. I live on the Westbank, and work downtown and while Metairie may seem like a hike, it’s actually a quick drive down Airline to Flambeaux. I’m there faster than to many gyms within New Orleans! I would consider myself an athletic person, but was coming into those workouts at the heaviest I've ever been and never having had any weight lifting/training experience. Missy took the time to get to know me and my goals, then plan workouts that would address that and provide me with the general knowledge to be able to engage in class confidently, when I was ready. After two months of 1-1, I gained muscle and confidence, as well as lost weight since I was also doing owner Dillon's nutrition challenge at the same time. I'm now four total months in and I can say it's one of the best decisions I've ever made for my mental and physical health. Overall, I've developed better eating habits (thx Dillon!) and am excited to go to the gym each day simply to be in community. What I love most about Flambeaux is the community and the support, regardless of when you enter ability wise. When you're in class, you will see all different types of bodies and the coach catering to each person's individual needs while still holding high standards. So for me, home is the best way to describe Flambeaux Crossfit. I'm an OIF(Operation Iraqi Freedom) vet. When I came back to the states, it didn't feel like home. I felt alone and some of my non-military friends and family had trouble understanding what my experience was like. I kept myself busy with standard military workouts(calisthenics and running) and eventually worked my way into power lifting, traditional bodybuilding, triathlon, and marathon running. Whatever I did, I knew that the secret to sticking with it was competing, so I did. Before I knew it I was knocking on Crossfit's door looking for my next challenge. I started training in Crossfit about a year ago at regular gyms and joined Flambeaux back in August. Finally, I found a gym that's lets me train as hard as I want and how I want. YES!!! But it didn't stop there. The workouts are intense, but so is the support I got from my classmates. And the coaches!!! They are outstanding! While working with them I have broken almost every personal record I have in fitness. It didn't take long before I started staying for extra classes just to cheer on my friends I met there or get more time observing and learning. I was finally home. Yes, this is an openly LGBTQ+ gym. While it may be a big deal to some, it doesn't make a difference to me. Gay, straight, bi, trans, queer, etc. we're there for the same purpose. At 4 months postpartum, I was feeling pretty bad about my post baby body. I was starting to have joint and back pain after sitting for too long and I was getting out of breath just lugging the car seat to and from the car. The harsh reality that my now 35 year old metabolism would not allow me to snap back as easily as I had for the previous two kids was staring me in the face. I knew I needed to get back into the gym to feel better about myself but kept putting it off out of sheer laziness, constantly saying I would do it but never following through. However, when my 8 year old told me that I looked like I was going to have another baby (gotta love the brutal honesty of children), it was the wake up call that I needed to get off my butt and into a gym. I had heard of the CrossFit craze and how much people enjoyed it, so I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. My 17 year old son was also very interested in trying CrossFit, hoping that it would help him improve his stunting for cheerleading. So we joined together. It was one of the best decisions we have made! For the first time in my life, I actually find myself WANTING to go to the gym, WANTING to push myself harder than I have before and set new goals to reach. Everyone there is so welcoming! We receive constant encouragement from both the coaches and fellow CrossFitters and never feel judged, especially since I’m usually the slowest to finish a workout. Dillon and Missy are so patient and take their time to teach us proper technique while also giving us the push we need. Great place for people to train! Dillion is the man! I needed scaled workouts for me since I was injured and in a sling and they had everything set up for me! I never thought cross-fit was for me as I didn’t think I was athletic enough but the coaches and members at Flambeaux are very supportive no matter what physical level you are at. What I love most is I have someone there to watch my form and make sure I am safely performing these exercises, something I feel you can’t get at a regular gym. They offer multiple class times throughout the day to accommodate any busy schedule and mix it up with yoga and Monday night endurance classes (a personal favorite of mine). Classes are great. I'm trying to lose wait and Dillon modifies the work out for my strength and pace and motivates me to keep going it's been 2 weeks and I already lost 15 lbs!!!!!!

Dillon King rocks. He does a wonderful job showing a newbie like me how to do the movements the correct way. Easy gym to join and would highly recommend it.

My first time trying crossfit was eventful to say the least. I only threw up twice! Ha! Dillon was super patient and helpful with this non-athlete. For someone who absolutely loathes a gym environment, I felt super comfortable here, and actually enjoyed it! Flambeaux rocks �

This CrossFit Gym is in a great location. The gym itself has a great look and is very well put together. The atmosphere is very positive and welcoming to all skill levels. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely be back!

So many great things to say about Dash, I don't even know where to start! First off, this training WORKS. I've been training with Dash for two months now and I am extremely happy with the results. His training style is one that keeps you coming back because it's extremely challenging, but he doesn't give you anything you can't handle. I was afraid to start Cross Fit because I have a bad shoulder from a car accident, but Dash makes the necessary modifications and my shoulder is getting stronger every day. I was nervous at first, haven't exercised in years. Dillon took his time and has showed me how I can incorporate fitness into my schedule and showing me ways to exercise even with the past injuries that I have.
