I got headaches frequently that clearly stemmed from tension in my neck and shoulders. Around that time, my back even went out from carrying my kids on one hip and sneezing at the same time. I had been to other chiropractors here and there but none that cared enough to really fix me. I would go one month here or there and hope for some relief but gave up. Then Revolution Chiropractic explained to me that if I am adjusted 2-3 times a week for months, there is a good chance I will open up and straighten up and regain a healthy spine. Well, that happened and much more. I committed to coming all the time for a year. It took 3 months to start to see that it was working. Not only did my headaches stop but my whole body and feeling changed completely. I honestly can say that now at 46, I feel better and younger than I did at 36. Where do I begin to tell of my wonderful experience at Revolution Chiropractic with Dr. Jason Hanba in Raleigh, NC? I highly recommend him!The year I became his patient I was in so much pain. I could hardly walk, and it was exhausting. I had recently been diagnosed with a herniated lumbar disk and was experiencing painful sciatic nerve involvement. Days prior, when I asked the hospital physician who looked at my MRI what my options were, he immediately started talking about steroid injections as early as that weekend and over the upcoming months to relieve symptoms with a plan for surgery after that if there was no relief. The hospital physician made no attempt to discuss any other options to actually address the need to realign my spine, and appeared irritated when I kept insisting that there had to be another way.I am a registered nurse, so I understand anatomy and physiology. I sure did ask Dr. Hanba a lot of questions! And he answered them all. His consultation did not feel rushed, and he completed a comprehensive assessment. He is really interested in the other aspects of his patient’s life as each affects the other. He challenged me to improve my self-care in other areas of my life and he follows up. He also took the time to discuss my concerns about how I might hurt myself further, and what his customized treatment plan for me would be. He explained that the steroids only mask symptoms and do not address the root of the problem. He could not hide his enthusiasm about the body’s ability to heal itself. He used a life-sized spine model to show me exactly what was going on. He taught me about proper spine curvature and showed me the problem areas of my spine. I was also impressed that he took x-rays of my entire spine, as it is all one structure, whereas the hospital only took x-rays of my lower back where the pain was at that time. No matter how much I reasoned with the hospital providers and told them that I often experienced neck pain too, the hospital team would not do an x-ray of my entire spine, or an MRI of my entire spine.Long story short, my pain has significantly decreased and I am pain-free most days. Dr. Hanba took x-rays before we started treatment, approximately 6 months later, and yearly after that. And I can literally see that due to his spinal adjustment therapies in tandem with the other therapies he offers, my spine is regaining the normal curvature that it should have. I can see it when the x-rays are placed side by side, and when they are stacked one on top the other. Praise God! I am so excited about it! I now have so many pain-free days, with only occasional flares. I am a 100% satisfied customer.One more important thing: as a Black woman I have _never_ experienced discrimination and never was made to feel uncomfortable at Revolution Chiropractic. As a Black woman, I often experience discrimination when I enter spaces where medical care is provided. These discriminations manifest from the staff as rudeness, hostility, dismissal, minimal courtesy, restrained irritation, and sometimes outright verbal drivel. Based on my experience and what I have observed with the culturally and racially diverse patients of Dr. Hanba’s practice, everybody is welcome and the utmost is done by Dr. Hanba and his staff to make patients feel acknowledged, seen, and heard. I love it!Dr. Jason Hanba and his wonderful team have helped me recover from painful health problems and have a more informed and better quality of life. He examined my back, made X-rays and prepared a 3 months visit plan for me. What I appreciate specially is that he explained everything very professionally what happened to my spine and nerves. I have PHD myself (in Chemistry) so all these explanations made a lot of sense to me. I was seeing him for adjustment 3 times per week for 2.5-3 months. I went there with full back pain and sciatica and after 3 weeks I WAS OUT OF ANY PAIN. It is a process. It needs time. Now after all 3 months I DO NOT FEEL ANY PAIN CAUSED BY MY SPINE. no painkillers, no drugs, no surgery. I really RECOMMEND him as chiropractor. I didn't think at first that I needed any kind of adjustments, not like my husband who injured his back a few years back or my son who has had sports-related injuries that cause him pain and discomfort; however, I must have been wrong because since I have started coming, I feel such a positive difference with my overall health and well-being. I didn't realize how much this program was helping and making a difference to me until I did without if for a week when I went on vacation recently. I felt so stiff and just didn't feel like myself until I came in for my first adjustment upon my return. I could feel the difference and relief instantly! Other differences I've experienced since coming to Revolution have been a more positive mood (of course, it helps that all of the staff are so encouraging and such a joy to be around), not waking up with a stiff neck and headaches, and more energy. I also feel stronger in the way I carry myself. For example, I've noticed such an improvement with my posture, and I just feel stronger in my core. Due to a lower back injury I had when I was in Vietnam, 40+ years ago, I've been taking pain medications ever since - that was until I started going to Dr. Baron about 1 1/2 months ago. My medications varied throughout the years from EC coated aspirin - 6-8 per day, to naproxen (Aleve), to most recently ibuprofem 800mg 2-3 times per day. I also did physical exercises for the lower back and walking -- which I still do. But, over the past 40+ years there have been occasions where I missed several days of work due to severe lower back pain and the inability to walk naturally or even to sit down without a lift chair. After my first adjustment with Dr Baron, I noticed my lower back pain had lessened, so I decided to stop taking my ibuprofen and see how long it would last. That was over 1 1/2 months ago and I haven't had to take pain medications for my lower back since then and my pain level is lower than it has ever been compared to when I was taking the pain medications. This alone has truly surpassed any expectations I thought I could possibly receive from his treatment and exercise plan. Also, their office is run very professionally and their staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. My experience has been great! I like the whole approach - not just treating symptoms. I learn about nutrition, exercise, as well as chiropractic care. Of course this may not work for all, but for those who are used to trying other than traditional medicine, it seems to work. I have been in Marching Band for the past 8 years, and since going to the chiropractors office I have more mobility in my lower back, and I can sleep easily without it becoming sore. I have also suffered from knee problems since middle school and was told that I would have to get surgery on my knee if they didn't see improvements. The chiropractors office indicated that my pelvis was rotated and after about a year of adjustments, the doctor told me that the cartilage around my joints looked better and I can now run without my knee brace. I also no longer suffer from multiple headaches a day. The staff at the office is wonderful! They know everyone by name and you are always welcomed with a smile. i was going to post this later this weekend, but driving past my old neurologist got me a little sentimental....this time last year i was walking around the international festival (which is next weekend this year btw) with what i had unfortunately grown accustom too....a migraine. the music was beautiful and the people fantastic, yet every decibel of sound sent sharp stabbing pains into my temples and thru my body. I had to wear sunglasses inside just to dull the lights.... I had been seeing a neurologist since 12 years old; had multiple CTs, MRIs, XRAYs, put on every medication available, even ones still in 'trial'. After many years, I was told this was my life....that nothing showed up in the scans and none of the medications worked. I stopped going at age 18. As I got older, the migraines got worse. By the time I went to the festival, I was experiencing migraines almost everyday. I was taking sleep medication just to get away from the pain. I couldn't listen to music, go to concerts, hold conversations or watch movies for any length of time. I cancelled on friends all the time, called out of work, and felt i was living in a nightmare that had no solution. I was getting ready to leave, when I saw a big sign stating "Do you suffer from : Migraines, etc" The ironic thing is...I had told Josh a week before that I could not continue to live this way....I was done....I needed a sign...So how much more literal can you get than an actual sign. The booth was for Maximized Living where they were using a scanner developed my NASA to determine nerve damage, etc. I will admit, I was skeptical....i just wanted to leave, but thought 'what the hell? what do i have to loose at this point'. To say the least, my scan was not good. lol. I went home to contemplate....and ended up being put on on-call the next day....another sign so i called and made an appointment with Dr Baron G Holt at Revolution Chiropractic... and needless to say...my x-rays were not very good either. To be honest, I was still skeptical, but willing to try anything at this point. I was informed that it may take multiple adjustments and time to see results, yet after my first adjustment, I could tell a difference, and by my second and third adjustment...my migraines were gone....I continued to wait for their return the first few weeks...thinking this was too good to be true, but they never returned. I have been migraine free for ONE YEAR!!! I can't even believe it! I am so grateful! For those of you that experience the torture, you know what i mean...my only regret is that i didn't see a chiropractor sooner...but i was naive. My life has done a complete 180, sometimes having so much energy my husband and friends don't know what to do with me, lol. But I'll take that any day over a dark, quiet room. No more artificial estrogen, thyroid medication. I have since stopped taking one depression medication and am down to half a dose every other day on my last medication. He also pushes his religious beliefs quite a bit for a medical professional. I guess it works for some, but she has had no improvement.
