I underwent liposuction of my abdomen with Dr. Diamantis in the summer of 2023 after being referred by another patient. While my initial consultation was positive—he was friendly, approachable, and answered my questions—the experience after surgery was extremely disappointing.The procedure itself went smoothly, but once I returned home, I began experiencing lightheadedness and heart palpitations. When I contacted the office, I was told repeatedly that I was not drinking enough fluids. I explained that I was hydrating adequately (to the point of very frequent urination), but my concerns were dismissed. I later determined that the issue was likely related to electrolyte drinks I had been advised to consume, which contained high levels of vitamin B12. While this may not have been foreseeable, my symptoms were not taken seriously nor investigated.More concerning was the complete lack of physician follow-up. I had three postoperative visits and did not see Dr. Diamantis at any of them—only nursing staff. For a surgical procedure, I expected at least one follow-up with the surgeon.During these visits, I also experienced repeated and unsolicited comments from staff about my weight and the need to lose weight, despite being physically active and not overweight. At one visit, I was given a lengthy lecture about weight management, only for them to later confirm that my weight had not increased. This felt inappropriate and unprofessional.As for my results, they are uneven. I understand that minor asymmetry can happen with liposuction, but I also noticed fat removal in areas (my flanks) that were not part of the agreed-upon treatment. Additionally, I experienced numbness in my upper right thigh. When I brought this up, Dr. Diamantis denied operating near that area. However, the sensation loss persisted for nearly a year, and another physician later confirmed it was likely related to the procedure.Overall, I cannot recommend this practice—not necessarily due to surgical skill, but because of the lack of postoperative care, poor communication, and dismissal of patient concerns.Note: I later came across public information indicating prior disciplinary action involving this physician.
