practiced at more than a few martial arts schools since early seventies, some great and others kinda fly-by-knight. a couple bruce lee wannabe's[yes, that far back] or "five swords against gang attack" kinda place.after quite a hiatus from a class i started at estacada athletic arts,[and a daughter teaches yoga] in large part for the exercise versus self defense. i have been very, very glad i did as first off the whole body conditioning is outstanding aside from the usual creaky bones typical of starting jui-jitu at 65 years of age. they also have the yoga, kick-boxing cardio, trx classes and some weight equipment.and certainly not least is the people. turns out after a few decades the owners,Bryan and Paris, are son and daughter in law of a comrade in arms when we were firefighers, small town. Bryan is a great instructor and the other "jitters' have been welcoming and extremely helpful during class.i would rate estacada athletic arts as top-notch and [lot's of kid classes too] a great place for everyone looking for a great martial arts/gym Less

Fantastic BJJ gym that also has kids boxing, yoga and various fitness programs. Great coaching staff that also has support from a larger affiliate of gyms ( American Top Team in Portland plus around a dozen other BJJ gyms in the Pacific NW) that gives you access to a wide network. For a new gym in a small town there is a wealth of experienced members of blue belts through black belts with a emphasis of training new members without prior experience. Highly recommend you check it out! Less

A friend of mine invited me to a class here and I was so impressed. Everyone is friendly, the workout kicked my butt and I was so sore the next day(in a good way!) I usually don’t like classes or gyms because it can feel cliquey or intimidating but I didn’t get that vibe here at all. Given it’s a small community, they welcome you like family! Less

My kids have been in multiple forms of martial arts for the greater portion of their life. We were eager to find a gym closer to home to better fit our schedule. Nervous for change, we took the plunge and did a trial here. I can say the atmosphere here is different. A completely judgement free, inviting and friendly space, it truly feels like home. We love it here! Coaches are great- patient, kind, and eager to share their knowledge and skills. There is something here for the whole family. Less

Besides the great training and fitness classes, what I find unique about this place is how Brian and Paris, the owners, run it. With most gyms and fitness centers, their goal is to lock you into a contract after charging a dozen different sign up fees, yearly dues, maintenance fees, administration fees, credit card fees, fee fees, fee fo fi fum fees... and it's so frustrating! Not this place! You can get your ENTIRE FAMILY mom, dad and kids a membership and there's something for everyone. Kids need a healthy outlet? They got that. Mom or Dad wants to do adult BJJ, plenty of time slot options. Mom or dad not into the "hardcore" stuff? No problem! They also have fitness classes, Pilates and even candlelit yoga. So whether you get a whole unlimited membership or a punch card, the whole family has affordable options. ARE YOUR LITTLES TOO LITTLE? If there are kiddos that are too young to join in with their siblings for class, there's a really great kids play room they can hang out in while their brothers and sisters participate in class. Less
