When we began the process of trying to find someone, we met with 10 other businesses that refinished hardwood floors but when we met Matt, we instantly knew our search was over. He provided an extremely thorough estimate, examining every inch of floor space, and took the time to explain in great detail the process of refinishing our floors, potential challenges and solutions/remedies to fix problem areas. From start to finish, Matt was super friendly, honest, and it was clear he had expertise in flooring and working with wood. We also needed repairs done on our floors, especially around our vents (some vent openings were too large), large gaps between the floor and walls, and other areas that had severe cracks in the original wood floors. Matt was able to repair all areas, perfectly matching new wood to our old hardwood floors by staggering the wood planks and using similar grain wood. We have been very happy with the team from New Ridge Refinishing team. They were flexible and understanding when our dates changed at least three times. (Sorry!) Most importantly they were so responsive with communication. Within hours of submitting a request on their website, Scott called me to fully understand our challenges. This was followed with a video clip of Scott suggesting the work that would be required, and an approximate estimate. Brian then showed up on site to finalise the estimate and he chatted back and forth with me whenever I needed, he always responded quickly even when I said "don't reply, wait until Monday". The only thing I wished is that I had more time to choose the stain colour, but that wasn't their fault - we had a really fast turn around in the end. And ultimately, even though we didn't have as much time to ponder as we would have liked, their suggestion was perfect and we are more than happy. (I will share photos next week after the painting is complete around the stairs) We worked with Brian, Colton, and Paul. I dealt primarily with Brian, although the initial communication was with Scott. Brian orchestrated the plan and did the flooring repairs we needed after we removed a door and wall around the stairs. Colton and Paul did the finishing work for the stairs/handrail/posts. They were all diligent workers and stopped only for lunch, or my interruptions. In complete honesty, I will say one thing to prospective clients... don't be put off by their initial marketing tactics. You're going to get emails and follow-up texts through an automated system and it is annoying and for me, off-putting. I'm not a fan of those approaches, but I'm so glad that I chose to take the perspective that the approaches were just a demonstration of someone's deep passion for their work, and I trusted the reviews. I am a very happy customer and I know that if there were any issues (which I highly doubt) they would show up at my door looking to make it right. These are great guys, who do great work. To Scott: we were told that the only solution that may be offered is another coat of gloss, the colour will not be the one we picked because the wood was saturated, also, we asked for the additional coat of finish offered to be done earlier, and we were told "I dont think i can make it earlier. " Based on the job done and the emails exchanged, we are not confident that the solution will be satisfactory, I believe our initial emails were polite and a fair depiction of what happened, with photos to prove that there is debris under the varnish, but we were also told "We will try our best to take them out before applying the new coat of finish. Im not sure where these hairs are coming from because we vaccuumed before every coat of finish" I can upload the photos to this review, but i don't think you guys want that. Less

I should also mention it was 4 half flights(2 floor) and we have open riser stairs meaning, he had to do the bottom as well. On the positive side: very responsive, persistent and interested even in a small job (which mine ended up being - laying one layer of hardwood floor on top of existing subfloor in a room of about 144 sqf). Helped to source the flooring during the lockdown, when it was next to impossible to find a supplier. Reliable, turned up on time, did a clean job and cleaned up afterwards. The whole job only took a few hours. On the not so positive side: The end result. The floor was laid starting from the sides of the room, towards the middle, which resulted in a gap in the most visible spot right in front (which has been filled with wood filler when we pointed it out). When they arrived, the crew asked where the cabinets would go (the room was a kitchen), as we assumed, for some purpose (such as, to put the more knotty boards where they would not be visible). As it turned out, we have wonderfully smooth and near to perfect flooring under the cabinets, and all the large dark knots (some of which do look like splashes of ink) bang in the middle, on display. The worst of these (one floorboard) has been replaced upon our request before the crew left (there was still one whole pack of flooring left, so it was not for lack of material). Overall opinion: would employ them again, just bear in mind you have to stand over them and oversee the work in minor detail (which we failed to do). Less

Sebastian came to the house two times prior to the job start and most importantly provided us with samples of various finishes close to our expectations and recommended the right finish based on his extensive experience. The job was done while we were away with no security concerns and he provided video during the job showing his progress. The job was done within the time frame given and he provided numerous implemented suggestions to improve the overall results. Cost of the project was reasonable based on comparison with other contractors. Overall we were extremely pleased with the end result, receiving many positive comments from our neighbors. We had our whole first floor refinished with Matt from NewRidge. It was badly damaged in some areas and two rooms needed to have new floor put in to match the old floors. After having them sanded down and stained they came out looking beautiful and really create an impact now. The workmanship and attention to detail is why I would choose NewRidge again.

Sebastian and his crew refinished the second floor of our house from May 17-19. We are very happy with the finished product. Sebastian and his crew were exceptionally clean and tidy and, while there was a little dust for us to clean up it was way, way less than we expected. Sebastian advised us against removing the existing quarter-round because he said he could sand up to the quarter-round without leaving a line of old finish and without damaging the quarter-round. This was excellent advice that we followed (we did touch up a couple of spots of the quarter-round but it was insignificant) and we saved a fair bit of money by following his advice. Very happy with Newridge/Sebastian and his crew. Also, very easy to deal with Scott in the front office for quotes, etc. Less
