I have been going to CFJB for a few months now and I am very happy with EVERYTHING about it; more particularly I am happy with EVERYONE! Justin the owner, all the wonderful coaches, and the members are all super friendly and laid back. They also have all the equipment a crossfit gym could hope for, a good amount of space as well as a nice air-conditioned waiting/office area. I like the software for reserving spots that ensure that classes don’t get too full. All of the coaches are well-trained and really CARE about all of their members, especially those who are new to the gym, or who need scaling options specific to them. They have members of all ages and genders such that i can’t imagine that anyone could show up and feel out of place here. Drop-ins are welcomed too. I totally recommend CrossFit Jacksonville Beach to anyone and everyone regardless of whether they have done CrossFit before or whether they have even stepped in any gym before. Even without much experience you will be taken care of and guided appropriately. The coaches do not push you to do more than you can safely manage; they don’t let you off the hook though: they do push you just enough to help ensure that you get a workout that is good for you. This is not a super-competitive CrossFit gym; there is no pressure to record all your reps or times to complete workouts though you can if you want to. Although not competitive in workouts, they do have some very impressive athletes who compete and do well in competitions so there is truly a wide range of abilities. I had been floundering for some time without exercising much; I struggle to motivate myself to exercise on my own. The great thing about CFJB is that all you have to do is show up and then from there on you are good; no more decisions to make; just show up and you get a great workout, interact with lovely people, and feel mentally stronger and happier afterwards. It is rare that I don't put in 5 days a week, doing a combination of the SHY workout (for the 50+) and the normal workouts where I scale to my own abilities. 15 pounds and 4 belt sizes later, I'm proud to be associated with CrossFit Jax Beach Members and enjoy every minute I spend there. I've done crossfit for years and tried to convince my husband to try it. He came with me a few times (to a different gym) and hated it, mostly because of the clicky attitudes and poor coaching. Now, four years later, we try cfjb, and he's obsessed. Within two weeks he bought "crossfit" shoes and is constantly bragging about his snatch or toes to bar, and how sore he is, in a good way!
