Steel Mill

I have been doing CrossFit for 3 years now, with the last 2.5 years at Steel Mill. As an introvert, it’s very difficult to walk into a new gym (I moved frequently thanks to the US Navy). When I walked into this gym, I immediately knew it was the place for me and signed up on the spot. The classes are small, which allows one on one coaching, plus I paid for some extra personal coaching to work on some personal goals. As a 40+ year old, it’s nice to walk into a gym full of hard working adults with full time jobs and families that are closer to my age, which is somewhat unusual in most gyms. Our coaches do all of their own programming, which is awesome because they focus on skills for everyone and also hold special classes or seminars to work on more difficult skills like dubs and handstand work. And we are always given lots of options to scale as needed. Since I started training there, I finally achieved my first strict pull up, which I could never do despite 20+ years of military service. And once I finally started paying attention to my nutrition thanks to great nutrition counseling, I have dropped several percent in body fat while gaining muscle. I recently moved over 50 miles away but continue to train at Steel Mill because I love it so much and refuse to change gyms.
