I recently moved to Ladue, I'm a professional lead vocalist, singing all genres in a few bands, and have been taught by teachers in Nashville, LA, and Atlanta. I'm taking lessons to keep my voice in check and continue to improve stylistically, so clearly I needed a vocal coach that could not only truly teach all genres but also SING all genres. I spent a lot of time calling, meeting and vetting vocal coaches (8 to be exact) in not only STL county but also neighboring counties. I respected the teachers that admitted they could not teach all genres because they had never really performed anything other than classical, adult contemporary or musical theater. But then there were ones that CLAIMED to teach all genres when they themselves had never really performed anything other than classical, wedding songs, musical theater, had never been the lead vocalist in a band or had just recently opened a studio. Unfortunately, claiming to teach all genres is all they can do. All genres is not something you just decide to teach - it takes years of experience actually singing the styles to perfect the inflections and even more years to have the skill, know how and body voice connection to teach it. I vetted a few teachers that, in hindsight, seem to be desperately trying to copy Deanna's business model - which I'm sure Deanna gets a lot - but bottom line.....don't settle for second best. Deanna is a seasoned pro and the knowledge that she has about genres, styling, and technique is some of the most innovative and original I've ever experienced. She can teach country, jazz, blues, rock, pop, musical theater, indie.....because she can sing it all. I truly did not think I could find a vocal coach in the STL area that could teach me something I didn't already know, but Deanna does every single lesson. Deanna is in high demand (I was on a waiting list for a bit) and there's a reason for that. She's just the best. Do not settle. Less

Deanna was my piano teacher throughout elementary and middle school. She not only taught me how to be a great pianist, but also how to be confident in my work. I could not recommend Ms. Deanna more! I have been taking lessons with her for almost four years now and every minute has been amazing. I look forward to seeing her every week. She makes lessons so fun. There's truly never a dull lesson. We'll laugh and talk while also singing and playing piano. She makes me feel so comfortable and has helped me become a million times more confident in not only my singing abilities, but also in my personality. She always lets me know mistakes are OKAY, which I used to always forget. Ms. Deanna is also extraordinarily talented on the piano and can pick up any song right away. She just has to glance at it once or twice and then she's ready to practice it with me. She also puts focus on what her students would enjoy singing, so she stays up to date with new music. I also absolutely love the showcases we do about three times a year where we get to perform on a real stage with a professional band. It has helped me grow as a performer so much. Piano is a different story though.... My daughter is a hands-on, visual learner and has never been one to crack the books. Instead of forcing a stringent curriculum on her, Deanna adapted her teaching method so that my child stays engaged. She truly has a unique way of connecting with her students so they don't get discouraged. The lessons are fun and that makes all the difference. We are truly blessed to have found Deanna!
