My appointment was for a second opinion on a couple of back crowned teeth that I was hoping could be re-crowned. The dentist was, at least, professional and told me that these teeth were not good candidates for re-crowning. I accepted his explanation. However, I was told before the appointment that I had to send them x-rays of the two questionable teeth and also full mouth x-rays or I could not be seen by the dentist. I had my current dentist send all of this in advance. I’m not sure why they needed the full mouth x-rays since they were never used or discussed them during my visit. So I get there, and the Dentist wanted to take brand new x-rays of the two questionable teeth, even though he was looking at them on his screen. Next, I inquired about the possibility of full mouth dentures with implants. He said that in order for him to give me an estimate on how much this would cost, I would first need special full mouth/panoramic type of x-rays which would cost me $850, and would not be covered by insurance. At least the policy should be if a patient pays that money just to get an estimate, then that amount would be credited toward the work if done. This was not the case.It appears that this Dentist has the best possible equipment and does every type of dental procedure that you can possibly think of. He even makes the crowns and full mouth dentures at his office as he has a full lab.He may be a good qualified Dentist, but I would be cautious. Find a dentist will work with you and not be looking to do the highest level work only.
