In 2022 I was completing Ultra Spartans, Triathalons, and just generally feeling awesome about life.January 2023 I had my shoulder rebuilt. Going in the conversation was 90 day recovery. Easy peasy. The actual recovery took a year and still to this day I’m not 100%.The problem was during those initial winter days of healing I didn’t surround myself with the right people. I started feeling sorry for myself and ultimately wound up taking a bath in the tears of my own self pity. By the time I snapped out of it I had convinced myself this was it. Dad life as social media presents it.I wound up sleeping poorly, gaining weight, loosing my strength and conditioning and generally feeling like garbage. Some days better than others, but never like I used to be.This last 2 years! In November of 24 I weighed myself and my heart sank. More importantly the image I saw in the mirror wasn’t the person I wanted to see. Sure physically, but more importantly the stature. I had reached my lifetime high weight and felt the worst I’ve felt in half a decade.I reached out to Strong Together Byram and Coach Alyssa helped me figure out if CrossFit was the right thing for me.Today I am officially down 12lbs, half way to my racing weight and more importantly feel clear, sharp and ready for action. We are meant to move, and today’s world seems to fight that a lot. I encourage anyone who isn’t feeling like their best version to raise their hand. We owe it to ourselves, our teams, and our families. Don’t let the narrative win. Take a walk, join a gym, find a group of people who have similar goals, and rule your own world!Have a great day!
