CrossFit Kaiju is the best! Such a cool inviting place for me to work out with my Dad! So thankful we found it! The coaches are extremely intentional about pushing you past where you think you can go whilst keeping you safe! I love it!

I love coach Brian’s coaching! He programs my weaknesses and makes me a better athlete. And he’s always ready to adapt to any injury/setback I have. Highly recommend!!🤩
I was pretty intimidated by going to a Cross Fit gym but everyone has been so kind and welcoming. As a beginner, anything can be scaled down to fit my needs and the coaches show me how to do that safely. Would wholeheartedly recommend this gym!!

Gym is ok
Great coaches, solid class offerings, classes are easy to sign up for and use a convenient app. The instruction on exercise form is very helpful and the workouts are built to accommodate all levels.
We are in the Reboot Class. Coach Brian is excellent and patiently explains the work outs. The gym is so friendly and convenient!
Outstanding coaching, facility, and community. Highly recommend. Will be back when visiting Charlotte
I don't attend classes regularly, but when I do I find it to be a very friendly and inclusive box for all fitness levels, they ensure the participants can perform the movements in a safe manor and scaled to the right level.
This is my first time doing CrossFit, my buddy has been going here for years and I finally signed up. At first, I was nervous wasn’t sure what to expect but I’m glad I signed up. Im 8 weeks in and the atmosphere has been extremely supportive, encouraging and a lot of fun. It doesn’t matter what level you’re at, there’s something for everyone here. I Highly recommended CrossFit Kaiju.

As a complete beginner to CrossFit, the challenging workouts have been intimidating. However, the positive, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere makes me excited to continue pushing myself and keeps me coming back for more!

I love this place. It is a supportive community and the workouts are hard but fun.
Dropped into a class over the holidays (which was easy to do online) and the class was great. Very friendly staff and community.
Oh my goodness I LOVED this CrossFit gym!! The coach was awesome and helped me so much! All the members were super friendly!! I’ll definitely go back!! Plus it’s in a great location! Super close to a great coffee shop downtown Matthews!!
The CrossFit Kaiju atmosphere and family is where it’s at. I’ve been a member for just over a month and I’m hooked. I’m new to the CrossFit world specifically because I’ve been super intimidated by videos I’ve seen of people doing crazy powerlifting things and copious amounts of pull-ups and box jumps, all of which I am far from where I am at physically. I’m new to the CrossFit world specifically because I’ve been super intimidated by videos I’ve seen of people doing crazy powerlifting things and copious amounts of pull-ups and box jumps, all of which I am far from where I am at physically. So when I learned that Kaiju has a “reboot” class, that peaked my interest. The reboot class lends itself to people who want to get a solid workout in without the use of super heavy weights, but use more dumbbells, kettlebells, resistant bands and natural body weight. They also incorporate rowing, bicycle and ski machines for some good cardio. The instructors are fantastic! They are all super knowledgeable, encouraging and kind, but they won’t let you slack. lol The members are all super great folks and are very welcoming. Ages range from 20s-70s! Don’t let your age intimidate or limit you! Less

I’ve been a member with Kaiju for the past 6 months so want to share a review of the gym and why it gets 5 stars from me. I’ve trained in a lot of different gyms and clubs around the world, first time training crossfit and really want to share my experience with Kaiju in a few different categories: - The space: Great workout space with a central rig/rack and lots of surrounding floor space, olympic rings and climbing ropes. Establishing your own workspace for a workout has never been an issue regardless of class size. The central floor space is surrounded by workout equipment against the walls of the gym that can be moved into position easily if they need to be moved. Olympic barbells of different weight and size, dumbells, kettlebells, olympic plates, assault bikes/runners and ski erg’s, rowing machines, rogue echo benches, medicine balls, skipping ropes, work benches, chalk buckets. There are drum blower fans in position around the floor and shower/toilet facilities with cubby holes for your equipment/shoes etc. There is also a body composition analyser should you wish to assess weight/body fat percentage. And pre/post workout drinks that you can buy on-site via an honesty system (log what you take). The space is great, everything you need is close by and there’s lots of it and arranged in a layout that really supports a good and efficient workout. Establishing your own workspace for each workout is really easy. The gym is located on a country road where the team have marked out different running distances, the road is safe with little traffic, generally in single vehicles and driving very slowly. - Workouts/Training: The workouts follow an annual training plan and by its nature focuses on cross-functional fitness. As a newcomer to Crossfit I was a little slow to join as I wasn’t sure how fit and how much technical weightlifting experience I needed to be to be able to slot into a class. There are a number of different categories of classes, Crossfit ‘Reboot’ is a back-to-fitness/intro class that focuses on stretching and intro to strength/cardio. The ‘endurance’ class focuses more on endurance/sustained training exercises. The ‘strongman’ classes focus on olympic/power lifting and the ‘standard’ classes are the standard crossfit workout of the day. Classes are generally scheduled from 5.30am – 7.00pm so are easy to work around your schedule. - The people: From a coaching and members perspective, the gym really is quite unique in my experience. Kaiju really is a community as much as a gym. The members are friendly and quick to chat before and after workouts, clear the gym together and motivate each other. You can see that there is a group of core members that have been members for years, but are quick to welcome new members to the community, which can be really motivating in terms of attending classes as you’ll invariably end up working with good folks who you’ve met before. There is always a really positive vibe around the workouts with a focus on work and performance once a session begins. The coaches are brilliant, I was surprised in particular how willing they were to adjust exercises/workouts where I didn’t have proper technique etc. in a way that supports technique development but also ensures you have a good workout. They detail out each workout and proper technique for every workout in advance and are very active in walking the floor and managing sessions. This is a really important factor for me as you can be confident that you are getting the maximum from each session, work and technique. All in all, Kaiju is a really brilliant community and training establishment, I would highly recommend to all levels, if you’re just starting or restarting your journey back to fitness or trying to really accelerate your training, there is a space and a community that are ready to support your goals. I tried the free class to start and signed up straight away, now I'm really looking forward to the months ahead ! 5 starts without a doubt from me. Less
CF Kaiju has fantastic coaches, challenging workouts, and an amazing community!
Great gym with great people. The coaches do an excellent job with instruction, motivation, and scaling (when needed). They always make sure you’re using proper form and if you have to make changes they will help structure something different which I’ve had to do a couple of times because they want you to keep coming instead of thinking “I can’t do this today so I’ll skip” - personally I like that... Great programming and great people - doesn’t get better than that!
A terrific CrossFit gym! I have had the opportunity to drop in when I’m in town visiting my kids. Welcoming atmosphere, great coaching, and challenging well thought out workouts. Thank you for a consistently positive experience! Patty
A great environment for working out. Positive and uplifting community makes all the difference.
Had a chance to drop-in to a class and had a great experience. Friendly and knowledgeable coaches (Alex was awesome!) as well as an easy to navigate gym for an out of towner. If you are in the area and need a good workout, drop in!
Great place to drop in! Coaches were very welcoming and knowledgable. The members were very friendly and encouraging. Thanks for having me!!!
Awesome environment to be in and the coaches push you hard to reach goals!!

The community at this gym is truly one of a kind! There is a rich diversity in backgrounds and skill levels, and everyone has a positive, inclusive attitude. I’ve enjoyed training next to elite CrossFit athletes, as well as people just getting started back on their fitness journey, and I’ve been inspired by both. This gym is not overly flashy, but they’ve invested in quality equipment, and everything is well maintained. Everyone is welcome here, all ages and skill levels, just bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn! Less
Great facilities, equipment, and staff . A competitive yet encouraging environment.
CrossFit Kaiju is one of the best gyms in the Charlotte area. The coaches at Kaiju are knowledgeable, supportive and goal -oriented. If you want to accomplish your fitness goals this is the gym for you! The atmosphere and the people at Kaiju are one of a kind !
The coaches and members could not be any nicer. You are always welcomed with lots of smiles. They do a great job making sure everyone understands the movements and workouts. The workout space is amazing-plenty of room and equipment-especially during this wacky Covid time.
Visiting from out of town and a great drop in experience! Very friendly staff and atmosphere, nice facility, and great workouts. Liked it so much we went back again!
Most supportive and encouraging environment that you could ever hope to be a part of. Coaches are super knowledgeable and friendly.
Coaches are knowledgeable, supportive and patient. Highly recommend taking a free class to try it out!

My time spent at Kaiju has made a profound positive impact on my life both physically and emotionally! Brian Yeung and the entire coaching staff are top notch in every way. Not only are they incredible athletes, but are personable and know how to uniquely coach every member and help them break through limits! The culture at Kaiju is awesome: inclusive, friendly, supportive, competitive, and much more. The gym itself is always clean and the barbells, weights, machines, and other equipment is the highest of quality. Kaiju will always receive my highest of recommendations to ANYONE even remotely curious about starting Crossfit - go for it and you'll never look back! Less
Great atmosphere and the trainers are helpful. Good group of people that motivate and encourage you to reach your fitness goals.
Had my first work out this morning with BY and absolutely enjoyed every second. I felt welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. If I performed a movement wrong I was corrected without judgment. Pricing is competitive and the atmosphere is great. I'd definitely recommend.
I was nervous at first to start training at a new box, especially being surrounded by adults, but everyone immediately made me feel welcome and soon enough they became like my second family. Kaiju is my home & overall a great facility. At Kaiju you aren’t just another member, you’re truly known. :)
Awesome gym! The coaches and people are great here! Everyone is a beast and if you want to be a beast then you gotta surround yourself among the beast! Ya feel me
Super helpful and supportive staff and members that make workouts fun no matter what shape you are in!!
Fantastic place for people at all levels. I walked in with no Cross-fit experience and was welcomed with excellent coaching, orientation, and no pressure or judgment (from coaches or members!). The people are great and BY, the gym owner, has been excellent at communicating during the health crisis. Highly recommend!

Great Crossfit class! I started in 2016, that is, after visiting and trying out other classes in the area. I felt KAIJU was a better fit for me being I was a newcomer to Crossfit. My reasoning centered around the ongoing guidance given by the instructor(s) AFTER the whiteboard session and the instructions given are aptly demonstrated by the instructor(s). This ongoing guidance is not in the form of handholding or annoying hovering by the instructor(s) but rather 'pro tips' throughout the movements, as needed, in order to tweak your form to prevent misuse or overuse injury. To me, that, in and of itself is worth its weight in gold! As I said earlier, I was a newcomer to Crossfit. So early on, I routinely finished dead last in the "workout of the day" (WOD). To which, was to be expected, due to life's happenstance of intermittent periods of plain old inactivity. But nowadays, I feel pretty good about how I've since progressed. I am now counted as one of the strongest in the KAIJU class…Ok!...ok! Maybe on certain movements and lIfts but nonetheless good...solid...quantifiable progress! We regularly encourage and push each other to "get to done", throughout the workouts. There is also an unofficial KAIJU 'run club', that happens after the WOD, if that's your thing. See you at the Whiteboard! Less

I love going to Crossfit Kaiju! Fantastic coaches and very motivating.
If you are looking for a great place to get a great workout in look no further. The coaches are awesome and the people here are great. You can’t go wrong choosing this gym. Best decision I have ever made.
I've been a member of Crossfit Kaiju since 2015 and can't say enough good things about the owners, all of the coaches and the other members. The owners and coaches are knowledgeable as well as friendly and are willing to work with you through life's ups and downs. Thank you BY and Joe for helping create and grow this great community!!
I have been working out at Kaiju taking the Reboot class for 2 years and absolutely love it! The coaches are wonderful and so are the people I work out with. The programming is awesome, I feel challenged every time!
I've been a member at Crossfit Kaiju since it opened it's doors. Brian, owner and head coach, has created an amazing atmosphere with great coaches and classes for all skill sets. Anyone looking for a gym home or a friendly place to drop in should absolutely give Kaiju a try.

I started out taking a class at a more trendy “boxing themed” workout establishment and wasn’t impressed. I tried Kaiju a couple days later and was hooked after the first class. It was a workout that made sense, involved actual weight lifting to build strength, and coaches were taking deliberate care to make sure I understood the fundamentals of the movements. I never had thought before that I would be doing CrossFit, but here I am now with no plan of stopping. The coaches are all fantastic and are engaged throughout the workout programs and are watching and coaching your progress. The community of people is great and welcoming. There is no reason to be intimidated, everyone there wants to help everyone get stronger/faster/fitter. Since joining my weight has come down, and my strength and stamina have gone way up. I am in better shape now at 40 than I was through my 30s. Less

Incredible place to workout and an even better place to find fellowship. Can’t say enough good thing about Kaiju.
Been a member for 5+ years. BY is great. Keeps a very clean bathroom despite my daily efforts to annihilate it.
I’ve been going here for about 5 months. Never really worked out before but they made it easy for me to stick with it. Great staff who are all very knowledgeable. Looking forward to being in the bast shape of my life at 40!
CrossFit Kaiju is an awesome place! I have been a member for two years and learned so much about my abilities. The programming is excellent and the members are friends. I am stronger and healthier. Highly recommend Kaiju to anyone. There is something for everyone wherever you are in your fitness journey.
Great box, dropped in from out of town, very nice people and made me feel extremely welcome as soon as I stepped in the gym!

From the beginning, the coaches have gone above and beyond to make me feel welcome such as pronouncing my name correctly (which isn’t typical but refreshing nonetheless) and greeting me every time I walk through the door. But it doesn’t stop there. I mostly attend Brian Yeung’s classes and sometimes Bryan Bayliss. Both have incredible knowledge and experience, but also talent in providing the right amount of instruction at the right time. No matter the size of the class, BY makes it a point to talk to each of us individually. Whether it’s providing encouragement or correction and instruction, his feedback is always professional and top notch making me feel successful. They both make themselves available for advice or guidance with the utmost patience, professionalism and friendliness. I have learned so much under their instruction and I am eager for more. I am but one of many who feel this way about CrossFit Kaiju. No matter how tough the WOD looks at first, I feel capable and empowered when I finish and walk out the door, hungry for more. Less

I've never felt out of place; all of the coaches truly show an interest in my growth without demeaning my current (lack of) skill. It's an environment where you feel like part of the team, while constantly reaching your own personal records. I can't recommend it enough! Less
I joined roughly a month ago and I love it. The coaches and faciltiy are top notch. Everyone makes you feel very comfortable from coaches to other workout partners. Your challenged everyday you step into the facility! Crossfit has become part of my daily routine thanks to kaiju!

My wife had been working out at Crossfit Kaiju for a while. The YMCA is were I had been working out prior to joining and it was just a stagnant feeling at the Y. So, I finally joined and it has been three months going strong. Everyone is great. The coaches are awesome and extremely knowledgeable. My lower back has felt the best since my mid twenties. I was also scared that I would loose muscle strength BUT after three months, I have never been as strong. Preforming exercises and lifts, that I was convinced I would never be able to do again, due to my lower back. But under the watch of the coaches they helped push me through these mental roadblocks. I am not from Charlotte, I stay on the road several months out of the year. Cross fit Kaiju feels like home every time I enter. Steve and His staff are very knowledgeable and produce a challenging program.
I have loved CrossFit Kaiju! The coaches have been a great help to a new comer like myself. I've learned so much about safe lifting and they've started to teach lessons in nutrition, which has been really helpful as well. I am still learning, but I've already had great results since I've been there.

I had a friend checking-in on FB at a new Crossfit gym that had just opened and decided to try it. I sent the owner, Steve, an email and had a response within an hour. He offered for me to come in and try and few classes and make sure that I felt that Kaiju was a good fit for what I was needing/wanting. Well.... I just recently celebrated my 1 yr at Kaiju. I could go on and on about the coaches (who are phenomenal), the equipment (all Rogue and kept clean!) and the facility (bathrooms/showers nicer than my house)! And to top it all off - it has an amazing social aspect also. I have come to call the people I work out with my friends!! I have better endurance than the ellipse or stair master could have ever given me, lift weight w/o feeling intimated, and can finally do a pull-up... which makes me happy! If you've ever even thought about trying CF - you'd be crazy to not drop in and give it a try! Less

Once I finally got up the courage to attend a class, I was hooked! From day one I felt comfortable and welcomed by everyone. There are members with all different skill levels, and the coaches work with you to make sure you are comfortable doing all of the movements (and with proper form!). All of the coaches are extremely knowledgeable, very attentive and extremely encouraging! If you are not comfortable/not able to perform a movement yet, they have no problem helping you with a scaled version until you can work your way up. In just 2 months I have seen a great improvement in my strength and endurance. Attending the classes is the highlight of my day - I love the feeling of accomplishment after each WOD! Everything about Kaiju is fantastic – location, hours, coaches, equipment, etc… My only regret is not joining sooner! :) Less
Great place, good location, great coaches. Working on always adding and improving things to give athletes a complete portfolio of movements.
Excellent attention to detail, great group of trainers (especially for people like me that have never done Cross Fit). New equipment, and a safe 1 mile loop conveniently right out the front door. For a lot of gyms its hard to get that cardio in, safely. No worries here! Showers are clean and big, great lunch workout gym.
Steve and his staff are great. They focus on technique, and tailor the sessions to each participant's abilities. All of the trainers are approachable, friendly and always ready to assist. I am very pleased that I joined Kaiju!

10 stars!!!! I joined Kaiju in July of 2014 and I have seen an immense amount of growth in my strength, endurance, stamina and overall health. Steve Adams and all of his coaches are very motivating, encouraging, supportive, and know how to push you in a safe, healthy way to make you a better athlete. I'm so thankful and proud to be a part of this box! Join it!!
My friend and I decided to join this gym after hearing about crossfit. Prior to joining, I had no clue how to lift weights or do anything super physical. Now I am confident enough to get out of my comfort zone and push myself. The coaches here are so nice and made us feel very welcome. I'm so happy I joined this gym. I'm stronger than I ever thought possible and I have made friends along the way!
My wife and I have been members for about 6 months now. We went in as skeptical participants because it was our first time using the gym in a long time. The staff that Steve has hand picked is fantastic and they truly care about each member. The entire staff knew our names within a week of joining. It is truly a 'family' feel.

A bonus is that CFK offers not only standard CF classes, but also Crossfit Endurance classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Not only great for endurance athletes, the CFE workouts are a great way for new students to 'perfect' some of Crossfit's body-weight exercises and to improve cardio ability. Less
Crossfit Kaiju exceeded my expectations in all areas. The WODs are always challenging but more importantly there is a constant focus on technique and body mechanics. I learned more about Olympic lifting, technique and form in the last three months at Kaiju than I did going to traditional gym for 15 years! The coaches, equipment and atmosphere are all top of the line!

I wasn't getting the gains I wanted on my own and I knew that I needed legitimate coaching with some of crossfit's technical movements. So I joined Kaiju Crossfit. From time to time, I tried a number of methods to shape up but I would get bored or other important demands/excuses would deter me from being consistent. Looking to try something new (again), I joined CF Kaiju in January 2014 and believe I have found what works for me. The owner and coaches are down to earth professionals who are careful to explain and walk you through each movement to ensure proper technique. As a first timer this eases the tension from nervousness, since basically you have no clue what you are doing. As you become comfortable with your technique over time, the coaches help push you beyond your self-imposed boundaries. Unlike other gyms, you are actually interactive with everyone and the community atmosphere is conducive from first timers (me) to elite athletes (not me). I've met great people who push me when I am ready to quit. At the end of the day, if you want to have undeniable results, you’re going to have to work for it.
