Overhead doors came out and said they were both good and found it was just the belt on the motor that had failed! After an evening power fail in Cameron Park, the unit appeared to be without power when power returned. I cycled the service panel breakers for the garage; no joy. Called Overhead Door the next day (Friday). I was told a tech would be here Monday. In the meantime, the unit inexplicably resumed functioning sometime late Friday or early Saturday, with no apparent reason why. I elected to continue with the service call, since electronic components can become marginal over time and PG&E's record of power fails in this area. Monday am I'm given a window of 11am-2pm, which the tech easily met. He began by lubricating the door & spring with spray lubricant, then opened up the Odyssey 1200 unit; his inspection found no visible faults. The door was cycled several times during the visit. I was advised that replacing the board and wall console would run $350, which I declined as things were working correctly. I was also advised to obtain and install a surge protector (which I'd already figured out beforehand). I was charged $150 (!) for this service call. I advise readers contemplating Overhead Door to find out what a service call will cost ahead of time, and to shop around for service so as to protect your wallet. Less

It was in the afternoon when my garage door broke. It was hanging in half above my car. They assured me they would send someone out as soon as they finished a job. Before I knew it here comes Nickolas. He said he would try to fix it. He told me if he couldn’t fix it I would need a new door. He was professional and did a great job. He reinforced my door and made sure it was working perfectly. It didn’t look like it had been broken by the time he finished fixing it. I am so pleased with the work done and Nickolas. I've called Overhead Door when I needed something fixed with my garage. Each time, the response time, service, and cost was very good, if not excellent. Luckily in the over 30 years I've had my house, it has been maybe 3 times. Each time the person who comes out has not tried to sell me an upgrade or try to do anything beyond what I needed. The repair cost is usually less than anticipated. Had a spring break this weekend, made a call, left a message and got a call this morning and got it fixed already. The cost to repair the spring was very reasonable and Brandon who came out, was a very nice, knowledgeable and told me about the options so that I could make an informed decision on how to get the repair done in a cost effective manner. We had a VERY positive experience with Overhead. A few days after I called, a great guy came out and replaced the bottom seal and retainer on our door which was all we originally needed. But in checking the rest of the door's function, he discovered the spring wasn't tight enough. It would have been very easy for him to convince us to buy a new one, but instead he tightened our existing one, and now of door is working so much better than it ever has! I also liked the fact this company offered us the choice of buying the retainer and seal so we could DIY. We decided to pay the extra money to have a professional install it, and I'm so glad we did! They were priced very close to all competitors I reached out to but felt they were much more reputable and well known so I went with them. I come to their store on Franklin Blvd in Sacramento on Saturday morning with a broken garage door spring. They have a replacement spring ready in 15 minutes. I can have the garage door fixed on the same day. Both of the guys there are very friendly. The price of the spring does go up a lot. The gentleman at the front counter told me the price of a two-car garage door has gone up by 120% recently due to the shortage and the increased labor. After seeing some pictures of my garage she did tell me I would likely need a side mount ($250 more) but it is what it is. Martin showed up :30 minutes into the three hour window I was told to expect him (the other company had slated to show between 8am-10am and I cancelled when they hadn't shown up by 10:30). He looked things over and decided the side mount wouldn't work...uh oh, here it comes...nope, he could use a regular mount and SAVE me the $250. Two and half hours later he showed me the new setup...and damned if he didn't do a good job. I'm happy. I was so scared as I live alone and didn't want to go overnight again without my remote being replaced and the code being erased. Lets face the facts, garage doors need attention from time to time especially when it is taken for granted. We have been loyal customers to the Overhead Door Company for years. They have always been very helpful during a time when my home's original garage door needed repairs multiple times. The staff seemed to know what our problems were and always had parts in stock. Eventually, I had to give up on the old garage door and purchase a new one. They had the perfect door that passed our homeowner's association rules when it comes to appearance. It also comes with solid insulation to help guard the garage from extreme weather such as cold or heat. I can't believe I never thought to review them before! But just recently we needed their help once again. This time my spring broke and needed replacement. After a quick phone call to arrange repairs, Martin came to my house the following day, ready to get the job done and in a timely manner. This time he installed a heavy duty spring which will hopefully make the life of my door last for years to come! He also checked out the system's performance and greased the wheels along the tracks.
