Neil’s puppy class has been a great help in teaching my springer spaniel to obey the basic commands.

Beetroot and I really enjoyed the scent work training at PAWS. Neil allows each dog to go at their own pace and is very knowledgeable about how a dog works when being scent trained. Lots of different options of apparatus to practice on and a great scent kit provided to help you practice in between sessions. We are both looking forward to starting the next stage of the course.

She’s tired at the end of her session because she’s learned so much but the exercises themselves are never made to feel like work for her, thanks to lots of tiny low-calorie treats to re-enforce successes as well as rest when needed. We usually covered four new exercises per session and took 1-2 weeks to practice on our own in between. This pace was ideal for us but you always have the option to flex the sessions according to your availability and your dog’s needs. Course includes: Highly recommend if you want help with: loose lead walking (so easy to do wrong on your own), sit, stay, down, door manners, not jumping up, emergency stop, recall and general advice on how to ensure your dog is comfortable when exposed to lots of different sounds, people and environments (including vet visits). This is a review for the dog field only. I really don't like posting negative reviews but I'm so disappointed and upset at the service we received today I felt I should share our experience. When we arrived today at our prebooked slot we couldn't park in the normal spot. Fair enough they said they were were having some truck deliveries and said about parking on the road. We explained we have a dog reactive dog and so they moved a tractor so we could park as normal. We're local and have been a few times so know they have dogs off lead round the dog field. Ok so far apart from the small dog that was running free and we had to ask them to pick it up as we were worried we'd run it over! A couple of deliveries went up the road. As it's a hot day and our rescue dog is old we decided to leave early after the truck was leaving so we wouldn't be in the way of other deliveries. The truck was pulled up at the portacabin, blocking the drive, fair enough we thought he's having a chat. We waited patiently and he came back to his cab. Two minutes later he was back out of his cab talking to the woman again. We pipped our horn as we thought maybe they'd not noticed us waiting further up the drive. The woman just waved her arm at us and looked like she said something very impolite and then went back into the portacabin with the driver. We had to wait another 20 minutes before we could leave, despite them knowing we were waiting and they were blocking us in. Obviously we won't be returning. As anyone with a large reactive rescue dog knows, it's great to have secure areas for off lead fun and we've been to lots. However if your dog is as reactive as ours after suffering years of abuse before he came to us (we've been working with a behaviourist for over a year and he's much better than he was!) this might not be the field for you. You have to walk your dog up to the field from the parking spot. It's only a short distance but as they have off lead dogs running around, this is a problem for us. The last time we were here a large dog ran up to the field gate which caused our dog to react. All good experience we thought, but after today it's too stressful knowing there might be dogs running free as we walk back to the car, and the bad experience with the woman who we assume is the owner. I understand its a working farm and you were having deliveries and it can be stressful. But why not just book out the slots so you don't have to upset people visiting the field. UPDATE Thanks for your reply Neil. We didn't realise the person who was rude to us and had dogs off lead is not part of your business. This was our main issue so I've updated my review score. First time taking my long haired cat Zelda for a groom, Kim was extemely friendly & helpful, talked me through the treatments, I was worried Zelda would be a handful but she reassured me she would be fine, came back an hour later she was all done. My dog joined 2 training classes, one for puppies and another for adolescent dogs. Neil is a great trainer. His classes were full of fun with lots of tip to train my dog daily basis. Many people tell me my dog behaves beautifully, being calm at busy places like cafes, restaurants or pubs. If you look for a dog training class, Paws High Peak is highly recommended.

We’ve just finished the 6 week recall course with our 2 springers. Neil was really accommodating in adding a place so we could do them both at the same time. We’ve got 2 very confident and explorative pups and I feel more confident with them coming back when I want them them them too. The set up is great with the ability to train around livestock too. July 23. Just completed our IMDT grade 3 level with Neil Would really recommend these graded classes. The dogs work through each course of increasing difficulty. Includes recall, impulse control and distance command work. The classes are relaxed and fun which seems to work well for the dogs. She has been on 3 puppy classes (different trainers) to keep working on her training and socialisation - I can say that Neil is the best trainer I have experienced. He makes the training fun and as real life as it can be, to help you utilise what is learnt, into the real world. He keeps the exercises varied and gives you 1 to 1 time within the classes to help polish training on an exercise, if required. I have a loose lead walking puppy quicker with his training methods :) I will certainly be coming back for more training for fun !! Just had our first session on the paddock. Good sized area and very secure. Still very early days for the facility (actually, literally the first day!) but it does its job and it is great to have a secure field very locally. I will definitely be booking again. A word of caution - the access isn't exactly family car-friendly so I will be parking in the lay-by until it gets resurfaced.

Can't recommend Paws day care and boarding as well as dog training enough! It's a real home from home for your dogs while you're away and every care is taken of your dog. The training classes and one to one sessions are also brilliant.

Really enjoyed Paws puppy school. Neil is a great teacher and our little Bonnie learned a lot, we strongly recommend this company to anyone with any dog needs!

Just completed a 6 week recall course with Neil. My dog has shown a huge improvement during the sessions. Great to work with a variety of distractions including sheep and horses. Neil helps you to understand your dogs main distractions, and work to over-come them using positive reinforcement. The class was friendly and good fun.

I was already working with whistle training but Neil advised me to get a different one a whistle is a whistle right wrong the one Neil advised to get Harvey was instantly more alert to and responded much better. As each week passed Harvey has become more responsive and calmer. We have now completed Harvey’s training and I can honestly say Neil has not only helped with Harvey’s recall he has also given me the confidence that I can distract Harvey and recall him back without the need of panicking. Neil is a very calming and reassuring person he always gave feedback from each lesson and was always available to answer any questions and give feedback from any update videos that I sent him. Daisy and Matilda have just stayed over at Paws for the first time. Kim and Neil are amazing people. I know just how much love, care and attention they pay to all the animals who are lucky enough to stay here. These guys are absolutely wicked!! Ivy has spent this weekend at Paws, and we were updated with photos and videos (sounds silly but it makes a difference!!) and she has absolutely had a ball with Kim and Neil, and the other dogs. We then contacted Neil regarding play sessions and training. Darcy goes to play sessions every single Wednesday, she comes back very tired! Whenever Neil comes to the door Darcy gets so excited and off she trots with uncle Neil! Neil has been training Darcy for a while now and we cannot believe the improvement! She’s doing amazing, Neil listens to everything and offers amazing advice and solutions. We’ve had health concerns with Darcy and Neil has helped advise with these also and centred Darcy’s training around her. Each time he leaves our house, Darcy sits at the door.... waiting for him to come back 🙈🙈. Neil keeps in contact between sessions regularly and offers ongoing advice. It’s definitely worth it! She is going for her first ‘sleepover’ soon and I feel so relaxed knowing she will be with two experienced people who have such amazing love for animals. Took Nahnuk today to PAWS, what an amazing job they have done. He is not a small dog and has a huge double coat which is not easy to get through but they did. We have honestly never seen him look this good. Thanks so much, you will get seeing a lot of him.
