I wanted to share our honest experience after bringing our 8-month-old daughter to her first swim lesson.Unfortunately, the experience did not start off in a very welcoming way. The women at the front desk were not particularly warm or helpful when we arrived. Since it was our daughter’s first lesson, we expected a little more guidance, especially being new to the facility. Instead of giving us a quick tour or walking us through where to go, they simply pointed in the direction of the changing areas and pool while remaining seated.Once the lesson started, I was told I could not stay in the pool area to watch and had to view from the lobby since I was the second parent not in the water. I understand that this may be the facility’s policy, and I respect having rules in place. However, our daughter was the only child in the class that day, so it felt like there could have been a little more flexibility, consideration, or at least a warmer explanation given the circumstances. As first-time parents bringing our baby to her very first swim lesson, we were hoping for a more welcoming, supportive, and attentive experience. The instructor in the water was fine, nothing against him.Overall, the experience left us disappointed and we will not be returning. I think the facility could improve by being more welcoming to new families, offering a quick orientation for first-time visitors, and communicating policies in a kinder and more thoughtful way.
