TL;DR have had a really positive experience attending this gym for about a year. Have gotten in significantly better shape and made great friends along the way.My wife (29 y/o w) and I (33 y/o m) have been working out at Bishop Arts Fitness ("BAF") for about a year now. I am now in the best physical shape that I've been in probably since high school or college. My wife used to do crossfit but she's probably now in the best shape she's been in since before COVID.We both came into BAF with a fair amount of fitness experience from playing sports growing up and from going to various gyms in our twenties. I had never done crossfit or much olympic lifting. We came into the gym with some experience and knew some of the lifts and movements but still had a lot to learn (and still do). BAF works for folks of all backgrounds. There are members who came in with a lot of lifting and/or crossfit experience and there are lots of members with little to no formal fitness background. The workouts, which I talk about more below, are scalable for all levels of strength and experience. Tyler (BAF owner) also makes sure new members are ready to join classes by going through some intro sessions before starting. We work out at BAF 5-6x per week and eat fairly healthy. The results we've seen for ourselves come from consistency and just showing up, which is what Tyler preaches. I'd say the majority of members show up pretty consistently (4 days/week or more) and most see positive results in 3-6 months after pushing themselves in the workouts to improve. You can tell everyone is improving because they're able to excel in more challenging workouts - and some of our cohort is pretty competitive :)We push ourselves hard but Tyler's programming makes sure we don't burn out. The workouts rotate muscle groups, cardio intensity, and skill development to reduce burnout and fatigue and prevent injuries. There's a mix every week of high intensity workouts, heavy or form focused lifting days (maybe fewer reps), ancillary muscle work and strength endurance (i.e. lifting as heavy as you can for volume), and endurance (slower, longer cardio workouts where we focus on breath work). The workouts all have ways to scale up (for folks who are stronger or have better cardio or more experience) or down (for the opposite). That's why the gym works so well. No matter your background, fitness level, or even your age, you can make any workout challenging.Outside of the workouts themselves, Tyler and Becca (the other coach) do an awesome job of creating an inclusive and positive environment where socializing before and after class is promoted. I feel like I know a bit about everyone who regularly attends the same classes I do and I have a new group of friends that I hang out with socially outside the gym to get coffee, drinks or meals.Incredibly positive experience - I'm at the point where I try as best I can to schedule my day around my gym class - and really excited to see the results year 2 brings.
