I hurt it doing something completely minor, and within months I had a frozen shoulder. I've been a nurse for thirty-one years, so I thought I knew how to get this sorted. Three separate rounds of physical therapy at three different clinics, and every therapist handed me the same protocol. A steroid injection. Dry needling, TENS, ice, heat, an MRI. I even had a manipulation under anaesthesia, it gave me my motion back on the table and within a month I was right back where I started.Eighteen months earlier I could do push-ups and carry my grandson on my shoulders. By then I couldn't pull my own pants up, put a sports bra on, or fasten a seatbelt. What got me most was that I couldn't hug anyone, not my husband, not my family, not the people at church.By week seven or eight I could roll onto that shoulder and get out of bed without excruciating pain. What was different was the mobility work, coming at it from a different angle and testing the response, instead of the same rotations I got everywhere else.I can hug people again. Your first instinct is to stop moving it, and that's exactly what makes it worse. Thank you Comeback for helping me feel like myself again, I would not hesitate to send anyone to this group.
