I visited the CrossFit Fortem website since I had seen them locally in my neighborhood. A link on the website offered a free intro session and tour. I scheduled my first session and was feeling excited. I received multiple messages about my upcoming visit and filled out paperwork. When I arrived, no one greeted me, so I walked onto the mat area until I found someone with a fortem sweatshirt on. I introduced myself nervously about my free intro session and tour. Yet he still seemed confused about my presence. He told me he'd meet me at the office, so I walked over and waited for him. As I sat down, he still began asking me who scheduled me and for email proof that I was supposed to be there. I showed my email, and he began to ask me questions about my fitness practices. I stated I was interested in getting stronger. He passed that statement and asked me if i had goals about losing weight and how my diet was. The discussion with this individual lasted approximately five minutes before the pricing model was provided. Then he announced that I would be unable to participate in any crossfit activity unless I accepted to pay a $500 intro fee due to my lack of experience with CrossFit. I was asked if I could afford the payment so my first appointment could be scheduled. I declined and left. $500 is steep for an understanding of a world I couldn't even be greeted into. I was not given a tour of facilities like advertised for my first visit. I feel as if I was given inaccurate information to get me to visit, and prejudices were placed against me for being black and a bit heavier. I was disappointed to have this experience. Less

Dropped in Saturday at 8 am class. Fee $20: fair Good size class. Able to partner up with a gentleman name Mason, who was a good athlete. Everyone was motivated. I work in the same parking lot at the book store. I've been there for 4 years. Directly across. What i have noticed is great people having a great time at crossfit kinnick. The owner seems down to earth and friendly to me even though i am not a participant. I am impressed. I dont work out. But if i decided too i would certainly go there.

I visited Ontario for business and went to CFKinnick. I talked to Jeremy and he set me up for the clases. The Staff was very friendly (Andrew) and coach Kristy was great on the two WOD I did. Definitely will go again!!
