We've used Jonathan for individual training sessions and a 15 day board and train for our high energy lab puppy and have been impressed with the results. The redeeming value with Jonathan's training is his ability to communicate with us as pet owners so we can continue the training on our own. He gives us resources to use, is patient, and always allows for questions to make sure we understand what is needed of us and how we can continue with what he has already laid the foundation for. Jonathan is prompt, communicates well, and engaged with our puppy very well. There's a big trust factor in leaving your pet with someone for 15 days and we were put at ease through the whole process. Hi, i took my very rambunches cocker spaniel to youngs training, when we started he was 5 months old. Bandit grew in so many ways while I learned better ways to train him. I loved the very gentle approach of training. Bandit was scared of alot of things and I learned ways to manage his fears and concerns so he could feel safe. I'm still applying my knowledge and working with him. I highly recommend these classes. I plan to sign up again after winter to learn more since Bandit will be older. Less

My husband and I, in a moment of utter insanity, adopted two Shepskie puppies (a friend’s dogs accidentally mated). As we are both blessed to be retired relatively early in life, we thought “what else do we have goin on?”. Six weeks later the white flag was raised. We were questioning our sanity (as were our neighbors) and the dogs were planning a party and buying toys off Amazon. We are pretty sure our cats were planning a mutiny of their own as well. We reached out to Jonathan and he explained his training program. How many businesses actually answer phones with real people. What we liked the best was that the girls would be in a home environment, around other dogs and two kittens. All we asked was they come home with better manners and he delivered. The girls were with Jonathan for two weeks. The care our girls received was excellent and his patience in the training exercises was quite remarkable…..the kind of remarkable where your mouth drops open and you wish he’d been around to train your kids. He took them to different environments for socialization including Lowe’s and group classes. He posts pics and videos on Instagram and unfortunately our only negative would be he was unable to send daily updates via text (we are not on Instagram and did not want to download another app.). If you are Instagram savvy you should see regular updates. Jonathan did respond to us each time we reached out which was great. The hardest part of this training process was not the dogs, it was/is me and my husband. When Jonathan brought them home he spent three hours discussing the how/why/when of each command, demonstrating the dogs using the commands and having us repeat the training exercise. Five minutes after he left we were screwing things up, but, his direction and packet helped us greatly. The girls respond to us immediately to “sit”, “stay”, “down”, and my favorite, “leave it” (turns out you don’t have to run screaming through the house to stop the dog from chasing the cat). The girls no longer jump for food, treats or water and rarely jump on us. Jonathan also loose leash trained the girls which is a fantastic help. Overall we could not be more please. Our girls are well mannered (for 5 month old puppies), we are not screaming at the top of our lungs (unless using our “game show” voice) and our home is pretty peaceful again (we still think the cats are planning something but we’re hip to them). We had an amazing experience! Our puppy Porter was a handful! No bite inhibition, did not know how to act at all around humans or dogs. Jumped constantly! We got Porter back and he is so much calmer, better behaved, and we have lots of tips / tricks to help reenforce his behavior. He learned sit, stay, come, wait, loose leash, down… our house is so much more enjoyable with him. He is still a puppy and needs lots of play / reenforcement, But so so much better. I looked into several other board and trains and Jonathan’s matched what we value and was reasonably priced - he is reward based! He has given us the tools to raise our puppy to be a polite guy! He spent over 2 hours with our family teaching us and gave me a folder of handouts to refer to. And our 5 year old who wanted nothing to do with him / stayed on his chair all the time - has been active in help training him - will walk around the house again! That alone is worth the money!! I truly recommend Youngs Dog Training LLC. It has been a very long and hard journey trying to find a certified and replicable trainer. I am so thankful to find Jonathan in my time of need. I was battling a knee injury and going to physical therapy and trying to train a Cane Corso puppy at the same time. It was a complete disaster. I even tried Petsmart classes, which was a complete fail. Google search after google search, I finally came upon Youngs Dog Training LLC. During our initial evaluation, I knew then that she needed one on one personal training. I highly recommend Jonathan, he is very knowledgeable and when faced with our challenging situation, he kept at it until he found the right approach/method that would work. We adopted Malia from the Humane Society and were at a loss when we could not successfully integrate her with our other dog, Lincoln. Within the first 2 weeks of training with Jonathan, Malia had been getting along with his dogs and was learning so much! He showed me videos of her playing with his dogs, I was so excited to see this and at the prospect of her being able to be like this with Lincoln. So we arranged for Lincoln and Malia to have a visit. The visit did not go well, Malia was still highly reactive and aggressive toward Lincoln. I had lost all hope that we would be able to bring her home and started looking for a new home for her. Jonathan however did not give up hope. 3 days before her training was completed, Lincoln and Malia had another visit. It was like night and day, I could not believe the tremendous progress made and I was feeling hopeful again. Bringing Malia home and re-introducing her into the family went way better than I ever expected. While they may not be BFF’s yet, they are getting along, warming up to each other and can be in the same room together. We are forever grateful for everything Jonathan did to help our girl build the skills she needed to be successful and for the time he invested in thoroughly training us on how to reinforce all the great things she learned while in his care! I enrolled in group obedience puppy class 1, which was perfect for us. This class provided me with exactly what I needed to positively train my puppies. We did a 30 day board and train for our 4 month old Australian Labradoodle. She went straight from the breeder (in St. Louis) to Jonathan and it was a seamless and convenient experience. Jonathan sent regular updates and pictures throughout the process. When we picked her up, he spent 2 hours going over the cues she had learned and how to follow through at home. We also got a very helpful folder with step by step instructions for how to teach several cues. Jonathan is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about dog training, and clearly cares for the dogs. He even provided support via text when we took her home and had some questions pop up. We had great experiences with Jonathan training our Golden Doodle, Crosby! We first put him in the 15 day puppy training and then we were able to board with him for a week while we were out of town. He did an amazing job laying down a foundation for our furry four month old. In the short amount of time Crosby was gone he learned sit, down, off, come, leave it, and was a quick learner with potty training! I’ve been working with Jonathan for the past few months on and off as I travel often and he has been wonderful. We get together and he teaches me how to better train my dog Stella. The 1-on-1 Consultations are tremendously helpful to learn how I can better train her. Then, while I was away he had availability to board and train her. My 6 month old Golden Doodle, Maverick just got back from Jonathan’s 30 day Boot Camp. It’s not an easy thing to do to let your puppy go away for 30 days, but Jonathan sure made it worth the time and money. He sent photos and videos periodically through the month. Not only did my dog grow physically while he was gone, he grew in maturity as well. He learned loose leash (which is still a work in progress), leave it, sit, down, let’s go, stay. When we picked him up, Jonathan spent close to 2 hours teaching my family how to work with Maverick and demonstrating for us…answering my endless stream of questions. He was a submissive pee’er, which I have not seen him do one time since he has been back. He was scared of situations he was not familiar with…he still is, but it doesn’t take nearly as long to convince him he is ok. I am a therapist and plan to continue training with Jonathan to hopefully get Maverick to the point of being a therapy dog. I have brought him into work a couple times with me already, and have been complimented by many on his manners. Now I just need to get better at working with him!! Our puppy Lola, a black lab, went to Young’s for some basic puppy training, at the age of 12 weeks. She was doing puppy things: potty in the house, chew on anything accessible, etc. Well after spending 30 days with Jonathan, Lola came home and has blown our minds with how well she behaves!!She rings the bell on the door when she needs to go potty, she can differentiate between her toys and untouchable items very well, learned to walk on a leash without choking herself, sitting, staying, and “leave it”. I used to work with Jonathan Young at petco, and he is very talented and passionate with his dog training, not to mention he has a very high success rate on his dog training! Also, he is very straight forward and to the point on his services, as I have witnessed myself, I would watch some of his classes, and seen how happy the dogs and the pet parent was with the outcome!
