Six weeks ago, I began training at MSC Strength and Conditioning. I have mild spastic cerebral palsy, and while I’m able to walk and move pretty freely, it’s challenging—I live with a lot of pain and discomfort in my body. As you can imagine, this makes trying new things, especially physical ones, a bit scary.Something in me decided it was time for a change. When I filled out the inquiry form and spoke to Tina for the first time, I told her, “I’m a weakling—and I’m not being mean to myself. A gallon of milk is heavy for me.” She was so supportive and encouraging that, between our phone call and the positive reviews I’d read online, I decided to go in and check out the gym. I am SO HAPPY I did!!!It’s been six weeks, and I’ve proven to myself that I’m capable of so much more than I’ve ever given my body credit for. I’ve consistently shown up for my workouts and have been absolutely AMAZED by the support I’ve received from every member of the staff.I have a brain that leans toward perfectionism, and I can be really hard on myself when I’m learning something new. The support, encouragement, and follow-up from the staff at this gym are beyond anything I ever expected. My goal from that very first phone call was to feel safe and stable in my body—and today, I feel that more than ever, largely because of the incredibly warm and supportive community at MSC Strength and Conditioning.
