His meticulous diagnosis and expertise in reshaping my smile, completely freed me from my chewing imbalance. When I first met Dr. Sweeney, my mouth was incapable of opening wide enough to accommodate a grape. Every morning, I awoke with severe jaw pain and most mornings, that pain was accompanied by an inability to initially open my mouth. I had battled jaw pain since my 20s as well as intense left eye pain that ultimately led to a “glaucoma suspect” diagnosis in my 40s. My second visit with Dr. Sweeney included a CBCT scan to evaluate the TMJs, which revealed a jaw injury caused by an auto accident when I was 18 (then 33 years ago). After the first month of treatment, my jaw and eye pain diminished substantially and by the sixth month of treatment, I was pain free thanks to the orthotic device created and routinely adjusted by Dr. Sweeney.My three-year journey with Dr. Sweeney included repairing TMJ dysfunction, my bite and tooth erosion of most teeth. However, that journey included immeasurably more thanks to Dr. Sweeney’s holistic care approach. His treatment plan focuses on the uniqueness of each patient, which requires an extraordinary investment of his time that he willingly provides. Such investment includes late evening and weekend checkups via texts and accommodating patients on non-appointment days to adjust orthotic devices. Over the course of my journey, Dr. Sweeney befriended my husband, and I befriended his amazing wife.Correction of TMJ dysfunction requires a significant investment of time by the patient and the dentist. The time invested by Dr. Sweeney obviously translates in part to a financial cost for the patient, which is worth every single cent. The process was long but with guidance and support the entire way. I have multiple chronic health issues and the team here understood and worked with me to solve my jaw misalignment and pain. I don’t have jaw pain or instability and sleep better without dry mouth as I’m able to close gently without blocking my airway or clenching my jaw.

I am so thankful to Dr. Sweeney and his incredible staff for all the time and energy they have invested in my case. I’m in my mid- thirties, and I never expected to have jaw issues. Finding out where to go and how to treat was exhausting, and I finally was referred to this office— and so thankful I was! Where do I begin with how wonderful my experience was with Dr. Sweeney. I experienced lockjaw for almost a year prior to my consult with Dr. Sweeney. During my first visit, Dr. Sweeney and site staff took the time to get to know me, my issues and all that was bothering me. After thorough assessment, Dr. Sweeney proposed a thorough and detailed treatment plan. Within a few short months, my range of motion returned in my jaw and my pain was almost nonexistent. This was an end goal I truly did not think possible after the length of time I experienced jaw issues.
