Lisa has been tutoring my oldest daughter in reading and we couldn't be happier! She takes the time to personalize her lesson plans to help my daughter learn in a manner that is best suited for her. Lisa also includes games in her lessons so my daughter has fun while she learns. We tried a few different tutors in the past, but none have helped my daughter like Lisa has. After the first few lessons we had already seen significant improvement in my daughter's reading skills. More importantly, my daughter's attitude towards reading has also greatly improved so we no longer have to fight her to complete her reading each night. We noticed early on that my son's least favorite subject was reading. Two weeks before he was going to start kindergarten there was concern with regard to his entrance testing. My husband and I determined it would be best if we waited one more year to start true Kinder. Then in 1st grade covid hit and he lost so many foundational skills during that time frame. He struggled and disliked reading throughout 2nd grade often refusing to even try. That year he started out at a kinder level of reading which was concerning. The summer before 3rd grade we knew he would need some extra assistance. Lisa was referred to us by a friend who said that in 6 months she did more for her son than the reading specialist at school did for several years. We started with Lisa and my son could barely read. He started the school year out w/ Cs in reading, writing, and comprehension. His self-esteem was low regarding this, and he had anxiety about being called on in class to read out loud. Lisa has been amazing for him. He has received straight As on his last 2 semester report cards and beams with pride! His confidence has increased, and he's progressed tremendously! At the start of year, he said "Mom I hope I don't have to do 3rd grade over again because I can't read". Now he's a different boy! We will continue to work with Lisa to build on his skills and confidence in this subject! Our son has a ton of energy and lacks a certain level of focus, but Lisa keeps him engaged and he's happy to share what he's learned. Mrs. Lisa has been amazing with our 7 year old son. He is currently in the 1st grade and with remote learning for most of his year while in kindergarten reading started to become a little challenging for him.  We did some research and we were referred to Mrs. Lisa and we are SO happy that we found her!   Our son has increased significantly with his confidence, ability to master his sight words, and improved his scores on the Dibels state testing. His teacher has even noticed a change in his confidence and his level of reading with only coming to Mrs. Lisa for 4 months.  She is great with the kids and has the ability to get them to listen, understand, and build confidence. She also makes it fun for the kids but you also get the results. We look forward to seeing our kiddo grow even more and continue the LOVE of reading. My experience with Lisa Zerarka as a private tutor has been absolutely incredible! And that's honestly an understatement. I wish she could be my child's elementary school teacher for every grade! :D I had come to the realization that my 9 y/o son was still struggling quite a bit with his reading and I didn't know where to turn.
