My now 17-year-old son, Kamden Hack, started training with Myson 10 years ago when he was a busy body- uncoordinated goofy 7 yr old lol. He was not the most athletic, and had just began his basketball journey. The way Myson taught then—focusing on form, pattern work, patience, accountability, and providing clear, precise homework to do at home before returning—has had a huge impact on my son's 10-year journey. He trains his students in a progressive way that ultimately benefits their long term goals, clearly understanding there's no short cuts to hard work and realistic expectations for each individual kid.He makes it easy to understand the skills by demonstrating himself, as well as his staff- providing verbal explanations, and using videos of the students in their session to reflect on pattern mishaps, helping the student see where to improve. As they get older, he teaches how to break down film, encourages them when their injured, or having a tough day/ game. His training style is residual to where his students can one day turn around and work for Hoops university or have their own business doing it.My favorite thing about him tho is that - He trains with the understanding that kids are very much like popcorn - 🍿 - you put the bag in the microwave for 1.5-2 minutes, you hear the popping, and when the timer finishes, you even get those last few that pop right before opening the microwave door! Then you open it up and enjoy a wonderful treat with almost every kernel popped... But the takeaway is that this compares to his style of training - almost EVERY KERNEL in the bag pops, just not at the same time... his ability to see and meet your kid where they are in that process is what makes him and his staff SPECIAL!
