Food is amazing! The phaal chicken and the garlic naan are my favorite. I just wish they did flights of curry so I could try more than one!!

So glad to finally have an Indian restaurant in West Volusia. As unassuming as this restaurant is in Deltona Plaza, they have a lengthy menu with so many options, the only major suggestions I can come up with is that it would be cool if they offered a small lunch buffet and that I wish they had a sampler platter! I think everyone knows butter chicken, so it's a universal "safe bet", which means that only one of us is usually adventurous with our pick, so we have one meal we love even if the other is not a fave.We went a little over the top with menu selections this time around since it was our first visit and we wanted to show our support and appreciation for exposing a new food option culturally to our community, but there was seriously not anything we didn't like. The prices were fair, and the portions were very generous - definitely shareable. The naan basket was FULL, the kids chicken nuggets and chips actually came with fries (which my kid and my pocketbook appreciated), and I LOVE that it came with butter chicken sauce for dipping to introduce the kids to something other than ketchup in an otherwise boring American kids meal. The spice could have been kicked up a notch on my chicken vindaloo, but it was still very tasty. They provided recommendations and information about how the meals were prepared and the differences between variations of similar dishes. If I'm being honest, I prefer the samosas and the onion pakora at Persis, but when drive time and cost are factored in, I would still choose Mr. Chef nine times out of ten. Oh, and let me not forget to mention that the service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable.I hope Mr. Chef sticks around for many years to come. Would be awesome if they could open a second location in DeLand sometime down the road. Definitely give it a try! Less
