LIFE CHANGING and ONLY ADJUST WHEN NEEDED! Being a California State Certified Massage Therapist I understand and know the importance of maintenance care with massage and chiropractic, but sometime you need a specialist. I was suffering for 2 months of constant headaches and the combination of massage and general chiropractic were not addressing the issue. Knowing anatomy I knew it this meant it was an upper cervical issue and I had my first appointment and have never looked back. After just 1 adjustment the headache was gone. My range if motion improved and the tension/pain was practically non-existent. I was actually able to look over my shoulder and check my blind spot while driving without rotating my entire body. I slept better and functioned throughout the day at higher levels. Without the care from Dr. Alexa I would not be able to enjoy life to the fullest. I have been working in retail for over 20 years and for a period of time I was also a massage therapist. Having helped other massage businesses flourish, I was burnt out; managing a store and running around helping someone else grow their business. However, during this time I learned about “Chiropractic” work and realized this is not for everyone and the “model” they held to was not something that I connected with. I was against Chiropractic work because I believed everything could be healed through massage and its different styles. I believed in teaching people about their bodies and how they can heal them through massage…….Boy was I wrong!!! Fast forward to 2015 the day my life changed. Now working at Apple, I greet this beautiful couple and start to answer their questions around computers. I soon discover this is for their business and they are Chiropractors….ohhh boy. I politely share with them I have done massage therapy and I never understood the chiropractic world. They enthusiastically explain to me The Specifics mission and how it is not like any chiropractic work I have ever known….I am now very curious and intrigued in understanding what this different type of chiropractic work is. After many question I identified that their needs for the computer is more than what I can assist in the store and offered a business briefing. As you have all seen they are still using PC’s. Lacey never called me back….hahaha After I let the idea of being able to help them with their computer issues fade, a year had passed. Living with back & neck pain, I would go and get massages multiple times a week. Needless to say, the pain and even migraines never went away. I finally had it after realizing I have spent hundreds of dollars on pain medication, massage and random back & neck supporters that seemed worthless. I remembered The Specific and asked myself “what do I have to lose? Take a chance, try something new.” Fast forward again to April 27 2017. My first appointment. I had called a few days prior anticipating talking to Lacey not having any idea how the office worked. To my surprise, Dr. Alex answers. A sweet sounding voice offering me to come in for a consultation. I walk through the doors and am taken aback for multiple reasons. One, wow she is beautiful & two she seems too young. I quickly found out how intelligent, passionate and professional she is. The attention to detail and excitement to figure out the human puzzle quickly made me realize she knows what she is doing. She sits me down and explains the process, I think to myself, “this is weird, I remember doing this with my massage patients and now I’m on the other side.” She asked me multiple questions but one stuck out; “if everything works out the way I imagine, what do you want to get out of this?” I was a little confused by the question, so she explained….more energy, happier thoughts, more active, pain free. I said all of the above, smiling with hope and anticipation of a day without pain. She walks me through the consultation and sends me home with a packet full of information and a feeling I have never felt from a doctor; comfort and a sense that she is looking out for my honest well-being. I spent the next week going back and forth on committing to spend that kind of money on something I did not fully accept, as it is still “chiropractic” work. As I walked through the door for my next appointment to go over my x-rays and the pieces to my puzzle, I was determined that I was not going to move forward with the treatment. As we talked about the cost and the different payment options, a voice in my head said, “your health is worth way more than this, how are you even contemplating this?” I paid in full and committed to the next 6+ months of treatment. One of the best decisions I have ever made!!! I spent the next 6+ months coming in and getting an adjustment or not, napping in the zero gravity chair or not, going up and down from little pain to a lot of pain to one day no pain. I was living life pain free!!! A feeling I had not experienced in many years. Regular doctors could not figure out what was going on, massage did not resolve the pain, random back & neck devices could not hold off the unavoidable migraines. I was shocked, in aww and forever grateful for the work of The Specific. I cannot say enough great things about the three people I have spoken about. I first came here to get help for my eight year old daughter, who had suffered from chronic constipation (going to the bathroom once every 4-6 days with the help of an enema or Miralax) and digestive problems since she was an infant. As she approached elementary school, she lost her energy, became very lethargic, had stomach aches every day, ran chronic fevers for weeks at a time, and was covered in eczema. She had seen every doctor, GI specialist, naturopath and homeopath I could find, and had even done food withdrawals, yet we had very little relief and NO answers as to what was causing her sicknesses. We were actually told, "she may just have to live with this her whole life" and "we could do a surgery to remove her rectum!!!".
