Genesis K9 Training

Mike is amazing! We have a 2 year old poodle mix named Sugar, who - before working with Mike - would often bolt through the front door and joy-run through town (impossible to catch until she tired herself out), would beg at mealtimes, would excitedly jump and paw at visitors, would nearly choke herself by pulling on walks (so much that we had to walk her with a no-pull harness), and, when hiking, would be long gone at the sight of a deer, rabbit, or other critter. On day 1 of training, Mike solved her bolting by teaching her threshold control. Then, he taught Sugar "place," which solved both her begging and behavior with visitors (and place has been amazing in a million other ways, as well). Mike also made walks with Sugar a dream; teaching Sugar a solid heel and recall (now we walk her with a long retractable line with complete control - she can explore further afield, but we can call her back or put her on heel in an instant). Finally, I can take Sugar out fully off-leash for hikes, where, with distractions everywhere, Sugar will even heel (without leash). Most critically, she reliably returns on recall. One last note, is how much I appreciated Mike's method of training. He shows you what he's doing, explains what he's doing and why, and shows you how to work with your dog yourself to train at home. I think I got as much of an education out of the experience as Sugar did. Working with Mike was great, and we'll be back whenever we get another dog.
