I've had poor eyesight since I was four years old, and suffered a retinal detachment five years ago which had led to cataracts. After having both of my lenses replaced here I now have 20/20 vision. The procedure was not merely painless but entirely free of even mild discomfort. The recovery was brief and barely an inconvenience. My eyes were a bit red for a while, which couldn't matter less. I can now see essentially perfectly without glasses, better than I could before with glasses, and couldn't be happier. Yesterday I swam in the sea, today I ran in the woods and tomorrow I'm going swordfighting. The outcome of my operation is therefore indistinguishable from magic. Less

Having my Cataract surgery with Shamina Khan and her team was fantastic. I had never had the surgery before and heard a lot of fake rumours of what was going to take place. The team was very knowledge and put my mind to rest as to what was going to happen. Everything seemed to happen so quickly and before I knew it my first eye surgery was done. I was given Shamina's card just incase anything happened which I never needed to use. All the after care that I needed to do the paper work was explained to me and given to me. The follow up post operation was good as they asked you how you were doing and you had the opportunity to ask any queries that was on your mind. Consultant Opthalmic surgeon Miss Kahn did the cataract operation in both my eyes with an interval of about a month and she was brilliant. She was very caring and thorough with her examinations. The operations were done efficiently with no complications or side effects like halos or floaters etc. These operations were done under local anaesthesia and sedation and the Anaesthetist was brilliant too. In fact the whole multi-disciplinary team team was friendly and so efficient. I have had double cataract surgery by Ms Khan using PureSee lenses. I had local anaesthetic only and found it quite adequate. My recovery time after operation on each eye was very speedy, with good long and medium distance vision after just 2 weeks and it improved slightly in the following weeks. I need reading glasses (~ 1dioptre) for small print under poor light conditions. Ms Shah was very friendly at all stages and is clearly an excellent surgeon. I had a cataract surgery at my left eye performed by Dr Sharmina Khan. I am so glad that I found her. Entire process has been very smooth. At beginning I was afraid of the surgery, however from initial consultation until the surgery I got answers to all my questions which reassured me and on the surgery day I was relaxed and ready. The entire team at Moorfields New Cavendish Street was very friendly. The nurses prepared me for the sugery, explained the procedure and post-operative process, what I should and should not do after the surgery, how to apply eye drops and so on. The surgery itself was quick and painless, Dr Sharmina is an expert, I trusted her and I was right. The next morning I removed the patch and I could see again after so many years of blurred vision. Cataract Operation Initial consultation started with very thorough testing and then face to face with Ms Khan. She was very engaging and clearly explained what the operation entailed, the likely outcome and the (very limited) risks involved. I decided to proceed at the meeting and the whole process of pre-op telephone review, day of the operation itself and post-op review, including testing, went very smoothly. All of the staff at New Cavendish Street were polite and charming with no sense of being in a hurry to finish their part of the process. End result is that I am now evenly long sighted, so old prescription specs have gone to charity, fixed supermarket reading glasses in every room and I can wear proper sunglasses whenever the weather allows ! Saw Ms Khan in 2023 re my cataract having done a lot of research into ophthalmologists as was quite worried about eye surgery. From the booking appointment with the practice manager Mrs Rutherford following my on line enquiry to my appt with Ms Khan , the experience was wonderful. I found Ms Khan to be incredibly knowledgeable. She took her time to explain her findings after the investigations and eye examinations despite my being a GP. I had my first cataract done this February. I was sent all the information for post op care by email a week prior. Despite ( due to train issues ) arriving an hour late for my surgery appointment, Ms Khan adjusted her operation schedule for the day to accommodate me and was again very empathetic , compassionate and comforting as I was rather distraught by having arrived late fearing that my appointment would be rescheduled . Day 3 post op, I am perfectly fine so far and have had no complications .Its also great , in my opinion, that you are given her mobile number post op for contact in case there are any complications. This has been an excellent service from inception and I am looking forward to having Ms Khan do my second cataract operation. A truly great surgeon and person . I highly recommend her. Less
