They have great gear and tech. Communication was a bit touch-and-go after the estimate, but everyone was good to work with on the phone. I was told by the tech that I needed a $6k repair when my cap came loose. He said it was my liner and due to the shape of my chimney, the best thing to do was to tear it down into the attic and cap it. This was after they only flew a drone to look at it. No one ever looked into my chimney to see the liner. The bricks were rough, though, I will give them that. I paid $160 for a 30-minute inspection that I could have flown my own drone for and taken pictures, but what are you going to do? Once I tried to get insurance involved, things got weird. Then, finally, after three days, the owner said, "I can't submit this to insurance. I don't think it will get approved." I was happy for his honesty, but you can't tell me I need a $6k repair and then say insurance wouldn't approve it. I found another company that did the repair for $1,400, $200 under my deductible. They came out the next day, went onto the roof, and looked inside the chimney. The liner was fine, thank goodness, but the bricks were really bad, so they tore it down to the roof where the bricks were good and rebuilt it. Overall, it was not a bad company to work with. It was a little expensive, and the quality of the inspection left a lot to be desired. However, I am also a technician, and I like to be as detailed as possible when I recommend repairs. Their communication was top-notch, and I appreciated the owner's honesty in his answers. I am sure that if they had done the repair, it would have been good, but the price was a little too much for me, and it was actually a lot more than I needed. Less

One of my two chimneys started leaking water into the firebox after freezing snowstorms in February. After researching I found Ohio Chimney to have the highest ratings among customers and great BBB ratings as well. They checked things out, found a major crack n the second chimney as well and provided me with a couple solutions. I didn’t use the fireplaces, so didn’t care to rebuild/repair so I could burn wood. We did a functional solution to fix the water issue and crack to protect against further damage and installed electric logs so I can have the ambiance of a fire without the mess! Water leaks are notoriously difficult to find and they did come back several times to solve some small leaks. I’m happy to say everything is fine now…no water even with the heavy rains we’ve had this month, Corey and William are great to work with and pay attention to the details. And Bre in the office was great help in coordinating. I can’t say enough good things about them! Less

This review is a little late in coming but wanted to acknowledge the work that Ohio Chimney did for us. All of a sudden the smoke from our wood burner was coming into the house instead of up the chimney. We called Ohio Chimney to come out to see what was wrong. It turned out that we had a chimney fire. After contacting our insurance company and getting estimates, Ohio Chimney completed all the work for us. We had to have a complete chimney rebuild and new burner. We were very pleased with the crew. The bricklayer was very meticulous and did an outstanding job. Manager Ross was very helpful in answering our questions and in keeping the crew moving. Corey, the owner, was very involved in being the go-between with us and the insurance company. He dealt with all the insurance issues that we had. Be very careful! Ohio Chimney got my family for over two and 1/2 times the cost of the estimated repair! The original person that quoted the job assured us that his estimate was accurate. When the owner of the company inspected the job after some issues with the laborers He informed us that he would do the best he could to keep the cost down, but the end results left us with a huge bill! Definitely felt like the “bait and switch” that you run into with unscrupulous contractors. Less

These guys were great. The owner responded to my issue immediately and followed up without hesitation when I need it. To say that they went above and beyond is an understatement. I had an emergency Carbon Monoxide problem and they took my call long after hours and showed up bright and early the next day to resolve the problem. They worked all day until they were satisfied with my safety. It was not their problem, but it was their solution. Fair price, good work, good men! Less
