I chose Javi’s Best Tex-Mex because it is mid-point between me and my sons who live in Kyle and San Marcos. I am from Corpus Christi staying in Central Austin. Come to find out, they are regulars. I am thankful that Javi did not disappoint. I had flautas and they were fine. My wife had Chimichanga and she was satisfied. We all nine had an enjoyable dinner. The waitresses were fabulous. I love finding good mom & pop restaurants, and luckily found this one on the outskirts of Austin. I had an enchilada plate complete with beans & rice. The flavor and freshness were both spot-on, but someone in the kitchen was obviously dared to put a whole onion in one plate. By the end of the meal, I was down to eating cheesy onions. Still good flavor, but definitely overkill. I also tried a barbacoa taco just to be adventurous. Sorry to say, it was not good. The texture was about average, but the flavor was completely bland. After one bite I immediately reached for the salt and salsa to salvage my taste buds. I would absolutely go back here again. The majority of our food was great, prices weren't bad and the waitress was fantastic. As for atmosphere, it was okay, but a bit loud for conversation. Nobody was necessarily loud, just the acoustics of the space did nothing to deaden the noise. As stated, I would readily go back. Less
