They took more than 2 month after accepting my application. more than a month to submit to city for approval. 15 days to get the parts. while is available all over the place. they are doing this as a space project. I need to get my whole house generator serviced. Unfortunately, they don’t service my generator. That didn’t stop the customer service rep from trying to help me find someone. She googled a few companies for me to give them a call. That is a rarity today. If you’re in the market for a whole house generator, give them a call, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Identified the simple problem right away, fixed it on the spot, and charged me $125 + $50 for the whole thing. After they left we found some other kitchen lights were not working. They came back second day, did a simple adjustment to fix it, for free. GENTEC sent me an invoice for $570. I told them I couldn’t pay the flat fee for an investigation which wasn’t complete. They argued the investigation was to examine the circuit and they did find the circuit that had the problem, and insisted that I should pay for the invoice. I told them that the lights were fixed by another company with minimum effort. Their response was that the short circuit may come and go, and the other company probably just got lucky. They still want to charge me for the $125 visit. I paid them for that. Luckily I didn’t agree for them to open the dry wall or spend $425 more to investigate. I will not use this company any more. I had a button doorbell installed. Did a great job, was professional and responsive. Just seemed to be a very high price for 15 mins of work.

Their billing rates have gone up signficantly over the past two years. I have used them three different times and each time their billing rate increased by double digits. Quality of installation is pretty good but their fixed lump sum approach and signficant cost per device that goes into their price build-up is now cost prohibitive from me using them again.

GenTech has the worst customer service, no direct contact to service people, always through dispatcher with messages that never get returned. They wasted hours of my time waiting for an appointment that was not honored as promised.

I used genetic to replace my outdated fluorescent kitchen lighting. They replaced it with awesome recessed lighting that is so much better. He did a terrific job as acting primary contractor and handled all the sub-contracting work that was required (e.g., crane service to hoist the generator). Everything was done according to safety codes. Highly recommended.

Ryan assessed and then replaced our entire problematic low-voltage lighting system (a big job). Tarps were always used to protect our home and to catch dust in living areas; the end-products are all neatly done and work great. Gentec was creative about moving switches, when necessary, to avoid hitting pipes, cutting into cabinetry or making holes. The only hole he had to cut is concealed behind furniture, and they patched it so well that we aren't getting it textured. I valued Ryan''s advice and, especially, his stellar work ethic (They were ALWAYS on time). It's no fun crawling around in an attic that reached 100 degrees by noon in March. In spite of obstacles, he finished this multi-day job early. Ryan was upbeat, considerate, and a respectful mentor to the two lucky apprentices who worked with him. I had some outside light fixtures that had not worked in a while, and they provided me with the least expensive way to troubleshoot and replace.
