Ivory Dental Manteca

My mom had a really bad toothache and did some research to find a great dentist in Manteca - her previous dentist was in Palo Alto. When she went to Ivory Dental, as a patient with no medical background, she made an appointment and told the dentist "I think I need a root canal" - as a professional dentist, you would think that they wouldn't take her word for it. My mom is not a dentist. Anyway - she went in for her appointment and Dr Gill took 3 of my moms crowns off and then told her she needed three root canals. Flabbergasted, my mom said she would get a second opinion. At the mention of this, the Dr said - "well, let me actually get in there and clean everything out and make sure." That was the first clue my mom needed to get out there. The next day, my mom went to her normal dentist in Palo Alto and Dr. Pyon could not believe that this dentist in Manteca had taken her crowns off, he told my mom that Dr. Gill could have assessed the situation with her crowns still in tact. He was actually angry because he's known my family for a long time. Dr. Pyon then sent my mom to an endodontist in Los Altos Hills and the endodontist said the same thing as Dr. Pyon - she could not wrap her head around the fact that that Dr. Gill had done what she did - to the point where she said that she would write a letter to Dr. Gill and to whoever needed to see it (my parents are taking Ivory to smalls claims court). The endodontist also confirmed that my mom only needed ONE root canal, not three like Dr. Gill told my mom. When my parents confronted Ivory Dental, the dentist that had worked on my mother said to her "Well, you SAID you needed a root canal." Just because a patient (who isn't a dentist) told you thats what she thinks she needs, you took her word for it? This was all just a ploy to get money out of my parents - they are older and don't know any better and naively thought that the dentist would have my moms best interest at heart. This doctor is not professional - and on top of that, very rude and condescending. Dr Gill asked where my parents are from and when they said Afghanistan, she proceeded to tell them a story about an Afghan man her family knew that was very dishonest and not a good man. This place is money hungry and preys on vulnerable folks like the elderly. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. They are rude, condescending, they just want your money and are dishonest. If we hadn't gotten two more opinions, this place would have conned us out of $7,000 - which is what they quoted my mom - in addition to the three crowns she removed from my moms mouth for no good reason. Stay away. It's also weird that they don't have a page on Yelp. Stay away from this place unless you just need a cleaning. Their practice is dishonest, hidden behind a cool and modern looking office. If you DO go for anything major, please get a second opinion.
