Over 25 years ago my wife and I went to a vacuum store in Marda Loop. We were shopping for an Electrolux vacuum as that was the brand our parents had always owned. The young salesman acknowledged the quality of the Electrolux but steered us towards a Panasonic. It was a high-quality Japanese made unit with a strong powerhead for cleaning carpets and it was about half the cost of an Electrolux. We had a young family and money was always a concern. We bought the Panasonic vacuum and used it for years. It cleaned great. When our daughter moved away from home over 10 years ago, we decided to give her the Panasonic and buy a new Dyson from Costco. She is still using the old Panasonic, but it is showing signs of age and is likely on its last legs. The powerhead on the Dyson cratered last week so we had to go vacuum shopping. I found a family-run business near to us on the corner of Southland and Elbow called Dynamic Vacuum. We stopped in, met with the owner, Moe, and started looking at various brands. Moe said we looked familiar, but we hadn’t been in a vacuum store for over 25 years. Eventually, we told the story about the Panasonic vacuum and how the young salesman in Marda Loop had emphasized the importance of a strong powerhead and steered us towards the affordable, quality Panasonic vacuum that was still working to this day. All of a sudden, the lightbulbs clicked, and we discovered it was Moe who had sold us the Panasonic vacuum over 25 years ago. What a coincidence!! After talking with Moe and looking at a few brands, we settled on a Sebo vacuum this time. Sebo was a brand that we hadn’t heard about before but that we came to understand it was a high-quality, German-manufactured unit made by a company that specialized in only vacuums. We obviously had full confidence in Moe’s knowledge and integrity. As a wrap-up to this story, my wife and I have been wondering what to get our daughter for Christmas this year. The central vac system also worked brilliantly and we couldn't have been happier. We moved to a new home a few years later and again were in the market for a central vacuum system. As soon as I walked in the door, Mo greeted me by name, which was astonishing to me. He got us all set up with another great system that still works perfectly to this day (8 years later) Occasionally I have visited the store for filter bags (usually not less than a couple of years since my previous visit). Each time Mo still remembers my name before I can say anything. Most recently, we lost suction and I called the store to see what's the best way to proceed with trouble-shooting. Mo recognized my voice somehow and talked me through some common steps to try before bringing the unit and / or hose into the store. Phoned Dynamic as the Panasonic vacuum that I had purchased there five years ago didn't seem to have enough suction. I told the tech I had changed the bag, cleaned the filter, and checked the hoses for clogs. They were the only vacuum store in Calgary that had the part I needed. It was $4 less than buying it from the manufacturer website and they also recommended a belt to make sure the new power head works well. They also let me pick up at the store during covid19 and had hand sanitizer available.

After we posted this review we were contacted by the owner who offered to repair our vacuum for free if we took this review down. To me this says two things a) they are aware they made mistakes but do not wish to own up to them b) their reviews are artificially inflated. I am sure we are not the only people they have extended this offer to. We refused. We weren't looking for a handout and informing the public of these types of business practices becomes even more important when the company attempts to cover things up with bribery and free things. 2. If at ANY point they had opted to handle this situation with integrity and say "yep we screwed up, sorry. Here's your (100% original) vacuum back." This would have been a 5 star review. Instead they have lied every step of the way starting with promising us they wouldnt leave us with a surprise bill and ending with their entire response to this review. 3. I dropped off the vacuum and the service ticket was in my name with my contact info. I was the one they called and told about the charge ($80 originally, then $60 now apparently according to their response $70 lol), not my boyfriend. He stepped in only when their nonsense became too much for me to want to deal with them further. The fact that they are claiming that they only dealt with my boyfriend, to me, is a testament to how willing they are to lie in order to be percieved as blameless and to shirk off any ownership of their mistakes. 4. They didnt charge us in the end, that's true. But that doesnt mean they didnt try to. Several times. As stated in original review, they eventually released the vacuum without charging but again, they returned the vacuum in a Frankenstein's monster fashion, using some of it's original pieces and some from their stock. They told us it would be unfair to return it in better condition without us having to pay for it. Again, feel free to give your money to whoever you want, just be aware that glowing reviews are sometimes brought on by shady business owners who bribe those who review them poorly. Pretty terrible experience here. Took our vacuum in to be serviced once without issue. First time we brought it in we asked that no work be done without providing a quote. No problem, they called before they did any work. Second time we asked the same thing. After not hearing from them for 3 days we called to confirm that they would be providing a quote before doing any work and we were told "we will not do anything to leave you with a surprise bill." Great! Until less than 24 hours later when they called us back to tell us that they did nearly 100 dollars worth of work overnight. WHAT? The explanation for not calling before doing the work was that he had to do this work to find out what was wrong... he admitted that he promised us he wouldnt do any work without providing a quote first and also admitted that he went ahead and did work without providing a quote first but essentially said that now that the work was done he wasnt going to release the vacuum til we paid. After several phone calls discussing this horrendous business practice they offered to give us the vacuum back in pieces, lol! To think we had to fight with a business owner about how his company doing unauthorized work isnt acceptable... wont be returning. To their credit we did finally manage to get it back in one piece, though some of those pieces were from other vacuums... so not sure how much credit they actually deserve for that :/ Less

I purchased a Miele Stick Vacuum 154 model. First I must say 10/10 for staff service. It is family business and you can feel this environment. They give me amazing deal as well. Miele vacuum is so so so so quiet comparing with Dyson. So happy for that.

Like most central vacuum buyers, I had spent numerous hours researching on vacuum technologies and brands. In retrospect, I should have just spoken to Moe at Dynamic Vacuums as he had explained to me all there is to know and all I have researched about central vacuuming in 15 minutes with in store demonstration. My purchase of the Duovac Sensa central vacuum power unit from Dynamic Vacuums (after returning my online Costco.ca purchase) was based on: 1) Local customer service If I have any product issue/concern or in need of accessories, I can just walk into the store and speak to Moe and associates. That is not possible with Costco.ca purchase and I will have to spend time speaking to the manufacturer customer service on the phone or spending hours researching resolution on the web. 2) 25 years product warranty. There is no central vacuum product that I have researched that provides that length of warranty as Duovac. I am confident that the young entrepreneurs at Dynamic Vacuums will be around in business to support the Duovac product. Buying the Duovac Sensa is a win-win situation for me as I get both the excellent local service from Dynamic Vacuums as well as the length of warranty from a known Canadian manufacturer. As I had intended to replace the central vacuum power unit myself, Moe made sure I have all the necessary plastic piping and joints before I left the shop.
