Ray put a lot of effort into our relationship. I appreciated his overall method for approaching conversations and resolving conflict. Sadly, after about 10 months of working with him, our relationship still did not improve. Specific to Ray, one of the things that did not settle well with me was that I felt a continuous bias with Ray and my wife against me. Ray continued to consistently side with my wife, which ended up with me telling Ray several times how I felt. Ray responded positively, but the thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was that he offered a future position to my wife to work with him while we were still in couples therapy. His response when I brought up this concern in a session... "First, I am not a therapist but your couples coach".... His website even says verbatim "Ray Rivers provides couples therapy". Wow. Not the answer that felt supportive of my concern. Following that statement, he mentioned that is how people in his line of work find employees to work for them. Is that true?? If so, eeek, not a promising way to grow a business and hire non-professional therapists. Thank you Ray for your support in the beginning, but you really crossed the lined there. Less

My first thought after my wife called Ray Rivers was” who is this white Dude who ain’t been married as long as me gonna help me”. I'm a proud Black Man and I can honestly say that he has helped me become a better husband and a better man. I’ve been married for over 45 years and he has been very insightful in developing a therapy for my wife and myself. My husband and I came go Ray very broken. I found Ray in a google search and reached out to him via text message just like his page states. I text him and he got right back to me. I'm pretty sure I reached out to him on a Thursday and we had our free consultation on Friday evening. I am so grateful we found him!!! He truly helped us. We still have a couple more sessions with him however from working with him and doing what he has told us to do we are in a way better place. We love each other, we talk and don't bicker. It feels like we are as in love as we were when we started our relationship 17 years ago. Ray is wonderful person, great listener. He does not take sides, he doesn't blow smoke just to appesse someone so they don't get angry, he is real. I hope he takes what he has taught us into the whole world because our world needs it!! Working with Ray is like working with no other therapist. It’s been an amazing experience, and he’s truly changed my life and my marriage. We had already tried multiple marriage counselors and over a year of counseling, and Ray helped our marriage more in our first sessions than that entire year of previous counseling.
