I just had my hair braided by Ms. Banka and she was wonderful. She fit me in at the last minute and listened to what my hair care goals were. After I explained that I wanted braids that would help my healthy hair goals she started braiding. She was kind, did not braid too TIGHT and was careful of my edges. She finished with my hair in under 2 hours, for the style I wanted. Before I left she also shared tips to keep my hair healthy while in braids. Ms. Banka is the only braider I’m going to see from now on. She also teaches braiding classes that I’m going to sign my daughter up for.Thank you Ms. Banka!

I called to set up an appointment three days in advance. On the day I went for the appointment there was no one there. I texted Banka, no response. I called her and she said she tried to call me to cancel but “my phone wasn’t working”. I wouldn’t have cared if she had just let us know but we had our day planned around the appointment.

I typically don’t leave reviews on Google, but my experience with this salon compelled me to share my thoughts. I had scheduled an 11 a.m. appointment for my daughter to get eight straight back cornrows, and we arrived on time. However, the owner was overbooked and explained that none of her braiders had shown up. While I was willing to be patient, I found it frustrating that my daughter’s hair wasn’t started until 40 minutes later. Initially quoted $70 over the phone, I was surprised when I was charged an additional $15 because my daughter’s hair was a bit short. Had the appointment started on time, I might have understood the extra charge, but waiting from 10:54 a.m. and not leaving until around 1:30 p.m. only to be late for my nail appointment, which I couldn’t complete, was disappointing. This experience highlighted a lack of effective customer care, and I won’t be returning.

We’ve taken our daughter to Miss Banka three times now, and while the hair quality has been consistent, our experience with pricing and professionalism has not.During our first visit, she charged $160. The second visit was $180. This most recent appointment, however, she charged $200—for the same 11-year-old child and a similar braid style. No pricing was discussed beforehand, and the dramatic increase was presented only after the service was completed.In addition, we had a 9:00 AM appointment and waited nearly an hour for her to arrive with no advance notice or communication until after the appointment time had passed.While her technical skill is not in question, the lack of transparency, punctuality, and consistency in pricing makes it difficult to recommend her services. Clients should not have to guess what they’ll be charged or be made to wait with no explanation. If professionalism and predictability are important to you, I would advise looking elsewhere.
