This is a top tier crossfit gym. As a physical therapist specializing in fitness athletes, and having been to a lot of crossfit / high intensity gyms, it is very refreshing to witness a gym actually get to know and care about its members. Ryan and Charlene are excellent leaders who truly believe in leading from the front / practicing what you preach. The programming is very intentional. The community is welcoming, encouraging, and close knit. The gym itself is brand new, clean, and massive. Awesome job, Ironshell!

I looooove coming here! As a total newcomer to CrossFit, I was a bit nervous but Ryan and Charlene have been amazing. They really take their time to explain different exercises and make modifications where needed. I feel so much more confident and strong than when I first came in about 3 months ago.The people here are all so friendly. I love how sometimes, if you’re the last one left trying to finish the workout, they’ll cheer you on as you finish your reps. It’s nice to not just look forward to working out but also to connect with the people you’re training with. ❤️As a mom whose brain is fried from the demands of a toddler, I can’t imagine ever going back to coming up with my own workouts and then doing them alone at an overcrowded commercial gym.P.S. If you have little kids who can’t yet climb out of a playpen, they have a small playpen where your kids can hang out while you train.

Iron Shell is one of the best CrossFit gyms I've ever been a part of, largely because of the coaching. Charlene has a great ability to push you, encourage you, and help you improve regardless of your fitness level.Charlene and Ryan have built something special at Iron Shell. Great gym! Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The workouts are hard, but the coaches offer lots of adjustments to make it fit what you need. Have definitely gotten stronger in just a month. The owners teach the classes and have created a nice community that it is great to be a part of.

Best crossfit gym in oakland! Coach Charlene and Ryan are the best. Charlene is a Crossfit games athlete for pairs. They taught me how to get strong as crap. I got 4 PRs in a month when I started with them. We all go out to comps it’s awesome.

Iron Shell is one of the best Cf gyms I've ever been to over the last 15 years if so that I've been doing crossfit. The coaches are super knowledgeable, the space is massive and well equipped, and the programming is scalable and very challenging. Highly recommend for veteran cross fitters looking for challenging workouts, or for new members looking for expert coaching and scaling!

They are very observant about form and technique, carefully watching every movement to make sure you’re doing it right, while at the same time pushing you to perform at your best when they see you’re ready for it.Ryan helped me get my first stringed double unders during class today - a moment I had been working toward for a while. He noticed my rhythm was off and guided me through small adjustments in timing and wrist flick, which made all the difference. Charlene and Ryan’s little tips and tidbits during open gym time have been invaluable for improving my pull-up. Their encouragement and hands-on advice have brought me almost to my first pull-up, something I’d been struggling with for a long time.The combination of their focused coaching and genuine belief in your progress creates an environment at Iron Shell CrossFit where you feel confident to push past limits and celebrate every milestone.
