I step into this Salon to book, was told that i needed to leave a deposit ( i was thinking because of short notice, but ok) and swiped my card --not even really paying attention to what was charged. I leave to go have lunch because my appointment is an hour and a half away.. i come back, get my manicure and pedicure (which is NO different than anyone ive ever had before btw) and i chose a french manicure for my nails (not gel) just basic nailpolish. I go checkout thinking i have no cash to tip and the receptionist states that i only paid a deposit and that i can add a tip into the balance owed. I was like great. Then she states that the total owed was 85.00 dollars . I was taken back, but tapped my card. I walked out confused, then went back inside to Question. Apparently th we laminated card that she gave me options to was JUST for a pedicure, but she failed to flip it over and state give me options for the manicure. Total charges were 130.00. Are you kidding me? For.a manicure and pedicure? The most ive ever paid is 65 and that was at a high end salon! Needless to say, im disputing the charges based on the lack of making it clear on what i was being charged for. If the pedicure had options for packages, then i should've had the same options for the manicure. I would've then noticed that they are 2 separate charges. Less

It's a very nice salon as soon as you enter. Very clean and enjoyable atmosphere. All calming pastel colors and the message room was nicely decorated. The message was AMAZING! My daughter and I just had the worst manicure at Salon 31. We went to have a French manicure. The nail technician said we needed gels because they lasted longer. She skipped most of the usual nail and cuticle prep then proceeded to apply one coat of clear polish followed by white tips. When I questioned her choice of clear rather than pale pink coat she said she said she couldn’t do regular French manicure and we should have gotten gels then walked away. The nail tech working with my daughter selected a pale pink polish and finished our nails. I say finished however there was NO base coat, only 1 streaked color coat, uneven white tips, and NO top coat. A basic French manicure is Nail Care 101 and if these technicians can’t do them properly then they should be retrained. The manager called later and offered to take $10 off so we would pay the price for a regular manicure. However in my opinion we didn’t even get a proper regular manicure. There are many nail salons in Virginia Beach. There is no need to patronize one with self proclaimed improperly trained technicians and a manager that does not care enough to make poor service right. At 4pm, she came out and said she would be a little late, she needed to mix some dye but would start my appointment very soon. I said no worries, absolutely understand schedules aren't perfect. At 4:35pm, I gave up, but had learned about the other services offered by the salon during my wait. I asked the receptionist if we could reschedule for another day and add on a dip manicure, which we scheduled for Saturday. On Saturday, I was given the worst manicure I've ever seen done by a business. The color and smoothness of the dip was wrong, so the manicurist ended up putting on 5 layers in a continued attempt to correct and then painted gel over top. I asked for the Frankenstein manicure to be taken off so I could just go home. When I left, I had dried dip all over my skin, under my nails and still on my nails. My skin and cuticles had been nicked by the buffer so many times, they were bleeding and agitated by the acetone and whole debacle. Enough so that I still am not able to go to another salon to remove the dip nor get a manicure before my vacation this week. After both of these experiences, I chose not to follow through with my hair and color appointments with Shannon. Clearly the salon does not offer quality, professional services. I asked for a coffin shape, one hand is *almost* coffin and the other is very much so almond/oval. They also started lifting around the back edge in less than a week of having them and I’ve already had to glue three back down because THEY POPPED OFF. I have NEVER had such a terrible outcome with my nails and I’ve had very new students do them before. I’ve had better luck with press-ons. I do not recommend going here to get your nails done. Less

My massage with Princess was the best I have ever had. She worked areas in my hips and glutes that were much needed. She also focused on the knots in my shoulder near an old ACL injury. Her positive energy was felt as soon as her hands touched my back. I was so comfortable with her. I'm grateful the rain came today and I decided to do some indoor self care for my body.

I also noticed the bill was high so I asked for an itemized bill and I saw bunch of “miscellaneous” charges. This is on top of them telling me “its an extra fee if you pay with credit card”. Who carries $200-$500 cash with them these days? Never again Less

She wasn't too concerned and said the worst part was the liquid added to stop the bleeding. It didn't bother her once the pedi was over. It was only her second pedicure ever, but she enjoyed it overall. I, on the other hand have been getting pedicures regularly for 19 years. This was definitely my worst pedi experience. The tech I had took a CHUNK out of my toe. I didn't have a blister or callous there. My skin was smooth and looked exactly like my other big toe. I have no idea what she was doing, but hoped that after the initial sting of what I thought was a cut, it wouldn't bother me again. I was very wrong. Once we got back to the hotel, my toe was aching and I looked closely at it and noticed there was a big hole dug into it. We had to go to Target to get bandages and Neosporin. The services were Saturday and it's now Friday and I'm still not healed, even though I've been using the Neosporin every day. I'm still flummoxed as to what the tech was doing on the side of my big toe that she wound up removing a bunch of my skin. I've now had a hair cut and a leg wax at Salon@31st, and both experiences were a delight! Jordan did my hair and did a fantastic job, which is saying something because very few stylists know what to do with my thick, unruly-wavy hair! She gave me exactly what I wanted and it's growing out beautifully too! It's even easy to style in the morning now, which I love. Nicole did my leg wax. She was friendly, professional, and compassionate. I have mobility issues due to arthritis and she was patient and accommodating as I found ways to avoid back pain while presenting my legs to be waxed. She explained what she was doing each step (it was my first wax) and let me know what to expect regarding hair regrowth and subsequent waxes. She made the whole experience as pampering and relaxing as it would have been back before I had trouble getting around! I will definitely be back here again and again for all my aesthetic needs! Now, Jordan… What an amazing professional! The last thing a stylist wants to hear is that they’re cutting the hair of a retired stylist. Jordan was not only polite and professional, but she was so incredibly patient! She was willing to cut and re-cut, and re-cut my hair so that we did it a little bit at a time, to help me feel comfortable in the fact that I was taking off a tremendous amount of hair and going for such a drastic change. I left the salon. Happier than I have ever been with a hair service, this girl is going places and definitely worth booking with! Some might think an hour and a half is too far to drive for a cut and color, but at this point, I am seriously considering it! Then I went in for the massage, as soon as she took the form from me I could feel something was wrong. She seemed rushed and irritated. After she gets a text she is huffing and puffing, I KNOW now something is wrong. As the massage continues for about 5 minutes she says to me, I'm sorry I'm not even suppose to be here today and my daughter is stuck at the Dentist office. I need to get her home. So after that I just left uncomfortable and going back in forth in my head, should I just tell her to stop because she was not focused on the massage and her energy was just off. Whenever she got a text she would only massage my neck with one hand and I could tell she was texting during the massage, then she kept getting calls so it would vibrate even more. At one point the phone was either on the table or in her pocket because I could feel the phone vibrating with every text and call. It just was NOT a good massage session for me. Less

Requested 2 services and was charged an additional $250 for "miscellaneous" charges. My wife was never informed about any additional charges until they were completed. Place is a scam and only tried to refund 10%. $600 for a massage and balayage cut is a joke

Princess did a prenatal massage on me that was fabulous. Johann worked on my husband and he enjoyed it. We also had pedicures and the ladies were very friendly and very skilled. We highly recommend!

Just had a massage with Belinda and it was the best massage I’ve ever had! She is very kind and addressed my issues. I was having lower back, shoulder and neck pain and it was completely gone by the time she was done! Will definitely go back the next time I’m in VB.

Just had a delux couples massage package with reflexology from Diana and Princess. The massage was wonderful, both therapists were professional, conscientious and thorough. Facility, restroom, waiting area and massage rooms were clean with a nice atmosphere. Can't wait to come back to town for another massage.

I had a much needed girls day at this spa. It was great! Nicely decorated and clean. I received a prenatal massage by Belinda which was by far one of the best massages I've had!! We both agreed it was the best massage ever. After that we started the pedicure and was served lunch. I chose my nail color and had the pedicure which was very good. The person started polishing my nails and I said the color looked too dark. She said it was the color I picked. I decided on a lighter color for the manicure-the same color I initially picked. In better light, the tie nail polish was a deep burgundy. The lady who did my pedicure appeared and said different polish companies have their own set of nail polish numbers. She showed my daughter the 2 charts we were given and they were wrong. My daughter showed the 2 charts we picked from, and pointed out the color I picked - it was #81 - we found at least 5 polishes with #81. The person asked if I wanted my nails repainted and I said yes. We were not rude at all - however the person was indignant that I wanted a the correct color. I later found out she was the owner. She could have apologized, but instead me feel stupid. I finally got the manicure which was rushed because of the 2nd polishing. I opted not for gel nails. After my finger nails were finished, the manicurist gave me a tiny fan to dry my nails. She never came back to see if my nails were dry so we finally left. One nail was messed up before leaving. It’s been 3 days and my nails look bad - polish is coming off in several place. I was so excited about my birthday spa day. Instead of leaving there feeling happy and pampered, I left there with nails that were not completely dry, and being treated rudely. I guess all customer service is gone!! I’ll never go back there. I think my daughter spent over $450 - I get more “pampering” at a walk-in local nail salon. Less

New stylist Ben took my dull, dried copper hair and turned into a soft, healthy, deep shade of red I had only dreamed of! He is truly a magician!!

I went here for a massage so I can only comment on that service and the appearance. I'm not much into spa environments buy my wife liked it, found it modern and relaxing. Masseuse did awesome job. My fave though was the chair massage with theragun. Best 10 minutes ever. Quick tip, pay with cash, and hope they have chang because it's a 3.75% extra charge on credit cards.

We had a 30-min hot oil scalp massage at this place. The spa is well-managed and has a really nice ambience, but the massage itself was quite mediocre. The oil wasn’t even warm, the massage was so-so and I could hear the massage therapist snoring (or making a similar sound from their mask) the entire time! That was a huge distraction!

Very nice, clean and always smells good. But it is a little bit on the pricey side.

Last minute decision to get a pedicure, walked in just passed 9am and they were able to fit me in. Evelina did an amazing job...nails looked perfect and got a decent leg and foot massage. She was also pleasant to have a conversation with.

Went for Mani pedi for myself and hair treatment for my son. Tammy did a fabulous job on my nails. My son's hair treatment left his hair softer and hydrated, however his hair was not trimmed or styled. Very clean, very nice ladies working there.

My friend and I did the pregnancy spa packages and it was fabulous! Every person we met was very professional and nice. The massage therapists were trained to do prenatal massages and were fantastic. We left there feeling relaxed and beautiful. Definitely recommend and will be going back for more services and after the baby is born for another massage.

Jonna was my massage therapist and she is absolutely amazing at what she does! Those hands are golden!!! I came in for an hour massage but it felt so good that I asked for a half hour extra lol. My fiancé and I went to Virginia Beach for a getaway of fun in the sun. Well, unfortunately, all we got was wind and rain. After passing this salon the day before while we were out shopping, I decided to book a pedicure. Tammy took great care of me and they were able to get me in the same day. Fast forward to the next day, still miserable weather and I wake up worth the most awful knot in my neck. I was staring down the barrel of a 9 hour ride back to Ohio the next morning and not looking forward to it with my neck in that state. My fiancé and I called around to a few other places and all were booked up. 31st was not so I made another trip there to see Jonna. Jonna was AMAZING!!! I can’t thank her enough. Through a deep tissue massage she worked the knot out and worked out all my other right spots and helped me get rid of the headache stemming from my neck ache. Upon checking out, I asked Michelle if there was any bath soak they could recommend to complete my evening of relaxation since I had access to a nice big jetted tub at the resort I was staying at. Kim was great! My first time going with a longer nail and I LOVE them. She paid special attention to detail and when she saw that I somehow clumsily scuffed my nail when it was drying (of course), she fixed it right up in a couple seconds. Will definitely be back when it’s time for a fill 🥰 💅🏼

I loved working with Salon@31st for Stan and Katherine’s Wedding on November 9th, 2019. As a photographer, having a hair/makeup stylist that sticks to a schedule is crucial. The artist really took care of my client by making them look and feel beautiful, while also keeping them on track for photos with me. Can’t wait to work together again!

Then I was called back at my appointment time and asked to come in. I had already started a new project but agreed and took a pause. I got there and the shampoo girl/massage therapist/dread enthusiast came to wash my hair. She was okay but is at times rude with her communications and most certainly is not focused on the client, the clients needs, wants etc. At one point she asked me what was wrong with my face as I was squinting to look at my phone 😳 My hairstylist was obviously double booked and then decided to have the shampoo girl start on my hair. After she asked what was wrong with my face, I was pretty done with her. Her conversation was very rude and I really did not want her touching me at this point. All the while, I am hearing my hairstylist tell another lady that she was getting the VIP treatment as he was working with another stylist on her hair. That was very hurtful and disappointing. I expressed my concern and he said that was the last time he would split his focus. I tried to get over it, even though it hurt my feelings. I went to the hair dryers- where peole were lounging around and he had to ask them to move. I sat there for awhile, and then the dryer went off. And I sat, and sat, and sat until I had to go to the bathroom and asked someone where the bathroom was— I then went to go sit back down and looked at the time. I had already been there for over 4 hours!!! I walked to the front, and paid. The manager asked how far I live away, and then said next time they would offer me something special for the service. I said I would think about it and left. The more I thought about it, the more upset I became. I am important. I am not just a number and I am a good client who rebooks, tips well, and is consistent. I booked a body treatment and pedicure for my friend who is getting married, and a pedicure for myself. My friend’s therapist during her body treatment kept saying, “oops,” during her entire service, provided no draping during the exfoliation, and left the room because she ran out of product. The shower was cold, the scalp massage hurt, and my friend was overall not pleased with the treatment. She did say her skin felt soft and the rest of the massage was fine (and she was actually draped during the massage portion). During our pedicures the nail files were visibly dirty and had obviously not been properly disinfected between clients. Single use items were reused between clients. Dirty tools were put back into containers and drawers for clean tools. Sanitation was questionable at best. The technicians kept leaving during the service and not coming back for what felt like eternity. Our feet were wrapped in hot towels and left until they were FREEZING. My technician’s fingernails were too long and kept scratching me. My friend’s tech (Tina) did a GREAT job though! Products were nice and the atmosphere was nice. Less

We had booked 6 pedicures for a wedding (out of town guest) at 9am when they opened. The techs were late and running in the salon at 9:10 and our pedicures were literally rushed & terrible. Will never be back.
