Today was my first time at Gracie Barra Glendale and I really enjoyed Professor Josh’s class. He took the time to break down each technique step by step, explaining the body positioning, weight distribution, and why each movement works rather than just demonstrating it. His teaching style made everything easy to understand and apply during training. Great class, great rolls, and I can’t wait to come back!

Professor Robert has created a very welcoming and professional environment. High level but also one of the best class structures I’ve experienced for beginners that are new to BJJ. Everyone is very friendly and excited to make each other better in a safe and competitive manner. Definitely recommend for those looking for a great gym to train!

I visited Gracie Barra Glendale for the first time while in town visiting my brother, who has been raving nonstop about how much he loves jiu-jitsu. As a woman trying this for the very first time, I’ll admit I was a bit intimidated— but that disappeared quickly!I was incredibly lucky to be paired with Taryn, the owner’s wife and an instructor, and she instantly put me at ease. She was patient, welcoming, and so knowledgeable. I learned so much during my very first introduction to jiu-jitsu and left with a genuine respect for the art.Thank you, Taryn, for making my experience such a positive and empowering one! I had an awesome experience dropping in with GB Glendale while visiting a friend who trains there. Professor Robert Hill and his team made me feel so very welcome and made sure I was matched up with a skilled drilling partner who gave great feedback. We worked some good half-guard sweeps and principles and did some fun positional sparring to put the skills to practice.Great welcoming culture with diverse skill ranges and backgrounds.The facilities were super nice, the mats were clean and in great shape (despite the street construction which necessitated the front of the building be boarded up, so you may need to enter through the back). And it was nice to have showers to clean up before my 4 hour drive back home.Bonus for great location with lots of good post-training food options to get protein and carbs!Would happily recommend this to anyone visiting LA, or looking for a new place to train in the Glendale neighborhood! Great family feel. Will visit again for sure!

I started training here due to convenience when we moved to Glendale. It is such a good school that even after we moved out of Glendale, I kept going here. They have a great adult program and kids program, so it really is jiujitsu for everyone. The structure of the lessons are great because it's a combination of self-defense and sports. Professor Robert and the coaches are very knowledgeable and supportive. This is such a great academy that I ended up enrolling my kids.

Ohhh heck, this is by far the best Jiu-Jitsu School I’ve been to!I come from doing Muay-Thai, and have been wanting to try Jiu-jitsu for the longest time. When I met my husband, he had been coming here for yearsss. I finally created time and instantly fell in love with it! At first, I was all giggly since it’s a new skill but oh man oh man, Gracie barra jiu-jitsu is the bomb! I’m so happy I get to add this to my fighting, self defense tool belt. What makes this place so special is the people, the community they have built. I always feel so happy coming into the school, onto the mats, people become your friends easily, and I leave better than I came in. Plus, I get to do this alongside my husband, which is an amazing way for us to bond since we both have a huge love for martial arts, it’s fun kicking each others butt haha.All the professors are so kind, beyond skilled, and PATIENT in their coaching. Every class I’ve taken here from the women’s class, that’s right they have an all woman’s class which is awesome, but also their co-ed GB classes are as great! You won’t regret joining this school to learn Jiu-jitsu. Professor Robert has done a wonderful job in creating a safe, fun, successful environment. I’m proud to be a part of this location, family, this Gracie Barra legacy.

My son has been training at Gracie Barra BJJ for a couple of years now, and it has become our favorite brazilian jiu jitsu class he has ever taken. He has grown to truly love and appreciate the martial art, and I feel that the instructors really care about their students. There are comfortable places for parents to sit and observe their kid during class, and they keep the school (and mats) clean.

I have my daughter (7 years) enroll in class here. It’s an amazing and friendly environment. My daughter loves going to class especially when she started understanding the moves she has been taught. There are tons of kids her age and she has been making friends in class which makes it a great place to learn. Highly recommend it.
