My partner and I signed up for Red’s LBB prep class as we really felt that birthing is a really natural process and her ethos was in line with ours. We were really taken by her holistic approach to the birthing process. Red really beautifully yet subtly blends together science, spirituality and years of experience in her sharing. Due to the pandemic Red was very accommodating and moved our classes to a virtual platform so that we could still benefit. We still got to interact with other couples and Red gave us all space and time to share our thoughts and ask questions. We feel really empowered and confident as we now have a great understanding of the birthing process feeling really ready for a natural birth. Both were perfect. Classes in person give the possibility of sharing with other parents-to-be and feel Red's energy but the online course gives flexibility do to it from literally everywhere in the world, at any time, in your pace, pausing and watching again how many times you want. All the preparation with Red is something you want to consider. It's not only about the birth itself but about bonding with your baby, caring for his health for life, securing a loving experience that will last forever, avoiding unnecessary trauma and about empowering women and couples. I considered myself to be a high risk mum because of my age and chose a Care Provider who is popular in Singapore for working with mums at high risk. As my pregnancy progressed, I was looking for antenatal classes, at this point a good Friend introduced me to Red. I started reading Red’s book and watching her videos to understand my baby and my pregnant body better. She became part of my support system and provided more information on care providers and the rationale behind medical interventions. Red emphasised on asking the CP open ended questions to understand if the CP was pro natural birth. This was highly beneficial because I quickly realised that my care provider was not the right fit for for me. However, as I had paid the package price when I was about 20 weeks pregnant, I kept up with my appointments as well as started exploring my options with other care providers. Experiencing both systems, equipped with knowledge was an eye opener for me. I began to understand that nurses can provide gravely erroneous information about natural/water birth. My breaking point came at 37 weeks when I went for my routine check up, my CP informed me that my baby has stopped growing since 32 weeks and he was going to induce me at 38 weeks. He reasoned that the increased blood flow in the brain is a sign that the baby is trying to protect itself and my placenta is not supporting the baby well. I was overwhelmed with fear, anger and frustration and I had to think why was this information withheld from me for 5 weeks. I was highly stressed and I even conjured about negative scenarios like having a still born. I turned to Red for support and she suggested that I seek a second opinion. I made a second appointment with the CP which Red had recommended. I was so relieved when the CP pointed out all the factors that were going right - the heartbeat, water levels in my body and the growth of the baby. I am so grateful to Red for sharing such valuable information to vulnerable pregnant women who are caught in a highly medicalized system. Less
