I highly recommend Alte as a very professional organization. Based on the age of our roof, we were pretty sure we only needed a professional assessment and relatively minor repairs to shingles or flashing, and perhaps some changes to our gutter system. Alte listened to our concerns and arranged for one of their team to visit our property and evaluate our situation. They scheduled an appointment for a specific day and time, and arrived on time which is a pretty strong indication that this is a professional organization. There was no hedging about day/time or any excuses about running late. Based on the on-roof inspection, we received an estimate within 24 hours including a detailed description of the proposed work, photos to illustrate what would be done, and the price to complete the work. The price was not inexpensive, but was fair. We gave our approval and scheduled the job. Despite having to reschedule due to a conflict that arose for us, a new date was quickly arranged. The technician arrived on time, introduced himself, and got to work. We are pleased with how everything was handled and the quality of the work. I believe the reason Alte Exteriors, LLC handles things so well is that they run it like an actual business. There is someone in the office who takes your call and documents your concerns, schedules appointments, makes call-backs if needed and is an effective point-of-contact. The person who conducted the assessment and provided the estimate, and the technician who completed the work are different people with separate and distinct responsibilities. In our experience, all these individuals were professional, pleasant, and effective in their role. As homeowners we have dealt with many contractors, tradesmen, and companies over the years. Some of the owner-operated small businesses with only one employee are excellent, but many are stretched very thin, and scheduling and quality of work understandably suffers. The good reviews are misleading. Alte had to remove plywood from my roof, and in the process utterly destroyed the attic space - and its contents - with wood fragments and roof gravel. Mid- job, I realized what was happening and asked why no one thought to warn me so I could tarp the interior. The answer was that it was in the fine print of the contract that this could happen, and anyway if I was so fussy as to want it tarped, they'd do that - after the damage had already been done. So here's my advice for you: if you are replacing your roof, especially if removing any plywood underlaying, tarp first! I learned this after one job, but apparently Alte Exteriors hasn't learned this after hundreds of jobs. In addition to that, they used torn shingles on parts of the roof, which I had to bring them back to fix, and when they left the second time, they left another mess of gravel dust. There still may be more torn material that I can't spot from my windows. Now I either have to replace my attic insulation, and the attic contents (luggage, etc.), or hire a disaster recovery cleaning service, or spend a lot of time myself tying to undo the damage. Bottom line: I trusted the nice Google reviews, but don't be so gullible. Find a reputable roofer who does a lot of work in your neighborhood, and use them. Less

Single family home, for the most basic asphalt roofing I was quoted 45k and the owner let me know he would be generous enough to add flashing and gutters for an extra 15k. Owner told me my slate roof was passed it’s time and he would not work on the roof unless I replaced the whole thing and that he did work on the home for the previous owner and there was DEFINITELY wood rot around around the roof/fascia boards. The total quote for the work was roughly 60k. As a new home owner I was shocked and thought wow wood rot I have to get this companies help right away! I contacted a roofer who specializes in slate to learn 90% of the slate on the roof has at least 20-25 years left on it before it needs replacement. Then I learned to replace the entire roof with the same brand asphalt shingles offered by Alte roofing would be max 10-15k. I received a third opinion that solidified this was correct. I was appalled that the owner tried to take advantage of me. Beware, he’ll come off helpful, nice, kind, easy going just waiting for you to bite. Always get multiple quotes before getting any work done. I’m new to this and it’s been surprising the prices companies will quote you just to see if you’ll take the bait. Btw I got all the gutters replaced along with one portion of the roof with flashing for roughly 5-6k. My roof and gutters have held up great with no issues. By the way, there was ZERO wood rot on the fascia board. Less

They also had a great selection of color options if you wanted something a little more personal. On the day of the install they covered my yard and surroundings to minimize any damage to the property, helped ensure any needs I had were met, and used a magnetic sweep to pick up any potential nails that were left on the ground. The roofing crew did not mind me watching them install. They were able to finish the roof install in 1 day for my cape, which was very nice to not be in a state of renovation/construction for long. My wife and I recently bought a home in Readington and we decided that a new roof was needed so we started shopping around. We received quotes from four or five different roofers within the area. In all honesty Alte Exteriors was the highest priced quote that we recieved, although it was not by much. I can't say enough about the exceptional customer service provided by Jeff Alte Roofing. We were experiencing leaking around some old skylights and had them replaced by Jeff Alte Roofing. The following day, we had a torrential downpour, and we saw leaking around one of the new skylights. It may have been caused by a bad seal or a clogged drainpipe. But there were NO QUESTIONS ASKED. They came out the next day to seal the skylights and replace the shingles around them as an emergency repair. Because those shingles didn't match our existing roof, they subsequently came out later to replace the emergency shingles with ones that matched our existing roof. Fantastic customer service. Alte promptly got back to me and I spoke with Dan. I explained my situation, and although it was a smaller job, he got right back to me with a quote and was able to repair my roof. Very good experience working with Alte. Dan explained everything to me while reviewing the estimate and answered all my questions. His install team was great to work with. They started on Friday then storms came in, they protected everything and made sure everything was sealed up. No leakage from the storm Friday night and they returned 1st thing to complete Saturday. Years ago we had our roof redone by Alte, I do remember it being a good experience all around- fair price, professional workers, good cleanup, etc. Recently we experienced an interior leak in our laundry room and suspected the roof. Mike came out to investigate, checked out the roof near the leak, checked out our garage attic. He determined, and showed me, what the real problem was (a pipe joint). All of this at no charge. Called Alte for a roof leak. In a matter of an hour of leaving a message I received a call back from Dan who was very courteous, and was able to schedule me for an estimate the next day.
