Great experience. Mr. Jones brings a great mix of discipline and training and does so in an entertaining fun way. He breaks techniques into small parts to make it easier to understand for the kids and I think this helps the kids learn and perform them and gain confidence in their techniques.

My daughters are students and I am very pleased with how knowledgeable and resourceful the instructor is! The dojo is centered around the family approach and this enables us to feel comfortable sending our daughters (ages 4&6) to the school! They are learning so much and have become very disciplined since attending classes at New Journey MMA. I highly recommend New Journey MMA for all ages!

Unlike most “self-defense/discipline” schools, he doesn’t just give out belts. Not everybody’s a winner. If you get punched once or twice, walk it off and learn from it. You need to earn your reward, and not just participate and get a new belt. This is also not a “be a fighter fast” class. After almost 3 years, i’m still not even halfway to testing for black belt, i’m still learning the basics and some new moves to make sure it sticks. I’m not saying he’s too old school though. Mr. J is one of the nicest and genuine people I’ve ever met. Have you ever seen someone celebrate when you walk into class saying, “today’s gonna be a party!” ? Probably not. From 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM, Mr. J is there for you, ready for you to get some training in, no matter if he doesn’t feel like it or doesn’t want to. But he loves his job, and loves when you come in, and there’s no judgement whatsoever no matter if you’re in the fitness, the MMA, or any other class in New Journey. If I wasn’t in NJ MMA, I would’ve been a wimpy, lousy, weak, and insecure 13 year old boy letting people pick on me and push me around. But this turned that path around, giving me strength, physically and mentally. I always look forward to go to class, knowing that i’m going to have fun, get work, and that this class will make me just that much better. perpetuates body dysmorphia and is discouraging with students -- comparing body types and students to each other in an attempt to "motivate." would avoid if you're looking for a trainer that is understanding toward your needs and your schedule.
